The room was clean and spacious. There's an early morning shuttle to the airport, which was very punctual. I calculated that I left my room at 5:15 AM, took the 5:20 AM shuttle, and arrived at Terminal 3 before 5:25 AM. Since I had no checked luggage, I was through security by 5:40 AM – super convenient! The only downside is the poor soundproofing; I could clearly hear the phone conversation from the next room at night.

This hotel feels like a natural oxygen bar! It's right next to a lake, and there are so many different types of trees on the property, making the air super fresh. Every morning, I woke up to the sound of birds singing. It's perfect for those driving, as there's ample parking both above ground and in a large underground garage. Within a few minutes' drive, you can find shops and restaurants, and major shopping areas like Nanmendou are just a 10-minute drive away. The staff here are incredibly welcoming. The security guards not only help with parking but also proactively offer to assist with luggage and guide you to the lobby, which was fantastic! Check-in was smooth, and the front desk staff even provided information about the swimming pool and gym without me asking. The hotel has a lovely Chinese courtyard style that's very comfortable. My room was clean and tidy, with a balcony and a great wet/dry separation in the bathroom. Each building has security personnel, which is a big plus. If you order takeout, it gets delivered to the first floor, and the security staff arrange for a little robot to bring it to your room – super cool! The breakfast offered a rich variety, including local rice noodles and vermicelli.

This was my first time visiting Fuzhou, and since I was traveling with family during the Chinese New Year, I booked three rooms for three nights. The hotel's location is excellent, right next to Wuyi Square, so you can walk over to watch the flag-raising ceremony, or even just enjoy the view from your room if you don't feel like going out! It's about a kilometer's walk from the hotel to Sanfang Qixiang, where you can really delve into the residences of famous figures from Fuzhou's modern history. On the morning of the first day of Chinese New Year, the hotel even organized a grand worship ceremony and a lion dance performance, which was a great experience for guests. My only suggestion would be: could the laundry facilities be made free of charge? It's a small expense that shouldn't really be charged for. I imagine there are very few hotels left in China that still charge for washing machines and dryers.

I've stayed at this hotel several times when visiting Changle. It's right in the town center, making it super convenient to get anywhere. The hotel is clean and well-maintained, and the breakfast spread is fantastic. The front desk service is particularly excellent. It's also a short bike ride to the beach, so overall it's very convenient. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I'm in town.

I stayed at the Lakeside Hotel by Fuzhou's West Lake, and the environment was truly serene and pleasant. The service was attentive and thoughtful, making me feel right at home. The breakfast was a particular highlight – an impressive array of choices, with both authentic Fujianese snacks and Western dishes done exceptionally well. The fish balls were tender and flavorful, the taro paste was smooth and comforting, and the freshly cooked guobianhu (a local specialty) was piping hot, starting the day off perfectly. Overall, it was a comfortable and enjoyable experience that I'd highly recommend.

The hotel room I booked was a Luxury Executive River View Room, facing the southwest corner. The views and natural light were excellent, and privacy was high. It's truly one of Fuzhou's top room types. The interior space is large, with mostly wooden flooring and some carpeting – very impressive. The hotel also features a pool and gym with fantastic views, as well as an afternoon tea restaurant, all of which are of a very high standard. The afternoon tea cakes are freshly made, and the breakfast selection is quite rich and delicious, with fresh and light flavors. If I had to mention any shortcomings, it would be that some in-room facilities could be upgraded. For instance, the toilet isn't automatic, and the showerhead and faucet operation are a bit too traditional and impractical. There aren't full-room electric curtains, and the TV clarity isn't great. Also, the toothbrushes and toothpaste aren't from a well-known brand. If they could upgrade these details, it would be perfect. **Cleanliness**: Very clean and tidy, satisfactory. **Service**: There's butler service and reception at the entrance to help with luggage, etc. Check-in required queuing due to many guests, but the service felt very good. **Environment/Location**: The location is excellent, right in the city center. Minjiang Park is right at your doorstep, and nearby shopping malls and attractions are not far, all within a short taxi ride. This room design is very suitable for couples.

The room was spacious and well-equipped with toiletries, which were replaced daily. However, the soundproofing in the hallway wasn't great. Breakfast offered a good variety. A suggestion: please provide disposable toilet seat covers that are of better quality or properly fit the toilet seat, as the one provided didn't fit at all and tore easily when stretched. Also, the cleaning staff didn't do a thorough job on the toilet; my child's urine splashed onto the side of the tank, and even after I covered it with tissue paper, the paper was removed, but the urine stain remained.

Staying at the InterContinental Quanzhou, just like Wu Lei! The lobby, inspired by the concept of 'Xuan' (a traditional Chinese pavilion), blends ancient Minnan architecture with modern design – I was immediately struck by its sophistication upon entering. The room also boasts fantastic views; the large floor-to-ceiling windows offer a bright and airy feel that's incredibly comfortable. Outside, you're directly overlooking the sea, a cable-stayed bridge, and a Ferris wheel. They say there's only one thing to do at the InterContinental: lie back and watch the Ferris wheel sunset! The hotel is right next to Taihe Mall, and getting to most tourist spots and the city center only takes about 15-20 minutes by car, making it very convenient for getting around. The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable, the bedding is incredibly soft, and the hairdryer is excellent. All the little details are perfectly executed. Quanzhou is addictive, and I'd choose to stay at Taihe countless times again. Chinese tea set: plenty of tea varieties. Coffee capsules: convenient.

EElizabeth Frances RoseThis place makes me wish there was an option for six stars. I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay. I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me. I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters. To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget. For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms. Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful. The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees. This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine. This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit. It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

GGuest UserThis is definitely a treasured B&B that will make you want to return again. From the thoughtful phone call from the B&B host after booking, I felt incredibly caring. They even provided directions, taxis, and snack guides. The B&B is perfectly located, within walking distance of the Music Square and Pearl Bay Beach. The Zengcuoan entrance is just a few minutes' walk away, and taxis are easily accessible to other attractions. I loved the large balcony in the room. In the evening, I could sit and enjoy tea, relax in the breeze, and watch the sunset, and all the fatigue from my travels would melt away. There are many treasured snack shops nearby, offering excellent seafood and satay noodles.

GGuest UserThis hotel truly exceeded our family's expectations. We initially thought it would be an old, run-down star-rated hotel, but upon checking in, we found both the rooms and service to be excellent. The service, in particular, was outstanding – from the front desk to the concierge and housekeeping. They even upgraded our room to one with a sea view! The location is superb, right next to Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street, and not far from the Eighth Market. Heping Wharf is also just a short walk away.

GGuest UserFrom my experience at 4 different accommodations in the Jinjiang/Quanzhou area, I have come to learn that the cleanliness (or rather, lack thereof) at this hotel is typical of this area at this price range. So I don’t want to make it sound worse than it deserves. That said, the first thing I saw when I entered the room was a gross-looking tangle of hair on the floor. I sent a WeChat message to the person managing it, and to their credit they were very apologetic and sent someone to clean it up, which they did (I was gone at the time). When I got back, though, I was disappointed that although that particular tangle of hair had been cleaned up, the rest of the floor still had visible dust and who-knows-what on it. I ended up seeing a broom and dustpan in the hallway against another door, and I decided to briefly borrow it and quickly sweep my own floor so I didn’t have to feel like it was gross. After that it was ok. Also, there was a sort of dank, unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom, which I believe is from the drain. The toilet is the kind that you are not supposed to flush toilet paper down (instead put it in the bin next to the toilet), so it’s also possible the smell was the result of that system after the previous occupant’s stay. There is a water problem in the bathroom such that when you take a shower, water ends up sitting in a kind of puddle on the floor near the sink, so it’s hard for the bathroom to ever be entirely dry, which no doubt also adds to the difficulty of keeping the bathroom smelling fresh. The room itself was big and included a washing machine, which was very helpful! There was a little kitchen area and a kettle and such. Water bottles were supplied every day. The bed was comfortable and clean. There was a sofa and a coffee table, and another sort of recliner seat near the window. Unfortunately the coffee table looked dirty (some sort of sticky residue on it) from the last occupant, so I didn’t want to put anything on it. The location is right next to the Jinjiang airport, which is of course convenient for arriving or departing by plane. Checkin was done via WeChat - I just told them I had arrived, and they sent me a code for the door. There was no one at the front desk when I arrived, but I can’t say for sure that no one is ever there. Possibly if I had waited longer someone would have come, I don’t know. For all the negative comments I had above, I want to repeat what I stated at the beginning - this level of cleanliness is apparently fairly normal for this price range in this area. I still think more effort could and should be put into making it a cleaner and more inviting space for customers, and things like the standing water problem in the bathroom should be fixed to prevent mold growth and such, but it’s also possible I just need to suck it up and spend more money on a better hotel room if I feel that my standard of cleanliness is so important.

DDaniel RodThe hotel is located fairly centrally in the island of Pingtan in a small village. Its exterior is nicely decorated with lights, and if you arrive late at night like we did, you’ll thank for that, as it shines like a beacon in a otherwise not very well lit street. The service shone from the beginning. One of the staff was ready to help us with our luggage and show us in, and there was no delay with the registration of my passport (something that as any foreigner that has travelled in the Chinese Mainland will be able to tell, is not something to take for granted), and was immediately added to WeChat, where through the entire trip I was kept updated on everything relevant to us as guests, from the time breakfast was ready, to the fact that a guest with a dog was going to stay in a room next to ours (to which they offered to change if we needed in case any of us was scared or allergic to dogs). Breakfast was always kept warm for us, even when we were coming down late and were not expecting it to be there, and in general the staff’s attitude was always what you would expect in a bigger, more established (and more expensive) hotel, but with a home-stay twist. The hotel is not very close to any scenic spot or touristic destination, but they offer a service of e-bike rental that we used through the trip, and that we’d recommend to anybody is staying here as it took transportation off the list of things we had to think about, and allowed us to fully take advantage of the central location of the inn. With 2 people per bike, going very far North, or South to the city (sometimes both in one trip), we never ran too close to empty our batteries. The room was clean, big enough, and as we were staying on the last floor and our door opened to a patio, very well ventilated. The patio also proved to be a nice place to sit and chill or eat, and I was able to make work I had to finish feel less of a sore in the middle of my holidays. The only things I’d add or change to the room experience are a place to hang clothes (there wasn’t any closet or the sort), the toilet paper (they offered tissues but they don’t feel the same when you want to, you know, keep your hands clean), and real towels (they offer disposable towels, but they’re just not the same). In conclusion, not only I would come back but I most certainly will, as I had an amazing trip and this inn played no small part in it. Would 100% recommend if you like less noisy, more home stay-ey atmosphere, and don’t mind to be a few minutes drive from the city.

11360195****The hotel's location is excellent, right in the heart of Gulangyu Island. It's tucked away in a quiet spot but still close to Longtou Road, where all the restaurants are, and attractions like Sunlight Rock and Shuzhuang Garden. We stayed in Building 9, which was very peaceful. It hardly felt like the bustling National Day holiday, but as soon as we stepped out of the hotel, we were met with throngs of people – truly two different worlds! The hotel has a private back exit for guests that leads to a quiet beach with very few people. The kids absolutely loved it, braving the heat and strong sun for over two hours, catching several small crabs. The hotel used to be a government retreat and is now open to the public. While the facilities and decor are a bit dated, you can tell the original fixtures are still of good quality. The room even came with tea ceremony tools, and the kids had a blast playing tea master – the Dahongpao tea was delicious. The hotel service is outstanding. They offer exclusive shuttle transfers from the ferry terminal to the hotel when you arrive and depart. If you're heading straight to the ferry after sightseeing, you can arrange a time with the hotel, and they'll deliver your luggage to the terminal, allowing you to enjoy your day worry-free. The staff are also incredibly helpful; knowing the kids wanted to play on the beach, they even brought sand-digging tools. When we encountered a staff member on the road and asked for directions to the beach, he simply walked us all the way there. We genuinely loved this hotel and highly recommend it.
