"The hotel is located directly across from Lake Windermere, nestled on a hillside. There are many small rabbits hopping around, and flocks of sheep peacefully grazing on the grassy slopes next to the hotel. You can also find plenty of blackberries in the nearby fields, which are quite tasty. The external environment is absolutely beautiful, with lots of lavender and other flowers in the hotel's courtyard, where plump bees busily fly around collecting nectar. On the hillside overlooking the road, there are several swings facing Lake Windermere for guests to enjoy, offering panoramic views of the lake just across the way. Next to the swings, there are a few apple trees bearing fruit. Lazily swinging here makes you feel like the whole world slows down. Our room, the Hazel room, was quite spacious, featuring a large bed (I'm not sure if it was two single beds pushed together or one with two mattresses) and a sofa bed. The bathroom was also very large, with both a shower and a bathtub. There aren't many restaurants near the hotel, but fortunately, the hotel's restaurant is decent, and the prices are comparable to other establishments. For public transport, you're reliant on buses, which aren't very frequent. We initially wanted to go to the town and the Lake District National Park, but as it was already afternoon and we missed a bus, we decided to give up. Instead, we explored the area around the hotel and enjoyed some slow time on the swings, which was also a great experience."

"The hotel location is great.  The hotel staff are very friendly.    The breakfast was good.  My only complaints were that the lift wasn’t working which meant trailing our luggage up 2 flights of stairs.  The water from the shower was cold and did not heat up at all.   All in all the hotel is just tired and in need of some investment and upgrading."

"Great experience with the Belsfield. It was our first time visiting the Lake District. Initially had a misunderstanding in regards to a double booking, which was thankfully sorted out by Diego I would like to commend him for his exceptional service. Staff overall are very pleasant to interact with helpful and the location is absolutely stunning with a great view out the patio off the entire lake, which is just a 5 minute walk down from the hotel. Rooms are a bit dated but clean and comfortable for the most part. Overall, would highly recommend the Belsfield and will stay again if we visit another time!"

"A great stay and fantastic value for money on Trip. Location superb by side of Derwentwater with launch jetty for lake at bottom of Hotel grounds. Ideal for walk round lake, Lodore Falls. Bus stop nearby so Keswick 10 minutes away and bus over passes to Buttermere and Lorton and Whinlatter . Room small double. Clean and suited us. Not the hotels best but for price we paid exceptional value for money. Breakfast range excellent. Staff very efficient and friendly. Sofia on reception couldn't do enough to help us. Will certainly return. Many thanks to all at"

"Very stylish hotel, with a British pastoral feel. The small courtyard is not big but has a rural feel. The room is relatively old and there is no elevator. If you want to carry a suitcase, you need some strength. The bed is relatively narrow. Fortunately, there is a bathtub in the bathroom for a bath. The breakfast is also a simple English breakfast."

"Rum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself. We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area. Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too. We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful. After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks. We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny"

"The hotel is located in the most bustling town in the Lake District, with plenty of shops and businesses. It's about a 5-6 minute walk to the lakeside pier. I booked a king room and a quad room. The quad room was in the building with the spa, and there was a bar downstairs. It felt a bit cramped for four people, and the bathroom was extremely small, plus there was only one. The king room in the main building where you check in was quite good. We stayed for two nights, and the breakfast was excellent with a good variety of fruits, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely time."
