My colleague stayed here before and recommended it, so I decided to give it a try this time. It's a bit of a shame the window wasn't perfectly aligned for the best view, but I could still see the ocean, which was nice. The area downstairs is great for walking around too, with malls, drugstores, and supermarkets all easily accessible. Plus, the subway is nearby, making it super convenient for getting around.
This hotel offers great value for money. It's my second time in Hakone, and compared to the hotels by Lake Ashi, this one feels much newer. The rooms are quite spacious for Japan, with a 1.5-meter bed and a 1.1-meter bed side-by-side. The toilet is separate from the shower, which is a wet/dry design. The view from the window is also lovely. The hot springs are on the sixth floor, featuring both outdoor mountain-view onsens and indoor ones. The outdoor area also has a single and a double private pool, which is a nice touch. Overall, it's pretty good. The breakfast and dinner are more Japanese style, with ramen, miso soup, sashimi, and sweet shrimp. The mattress in the room was really comfortable. All in all, a great stay. Right opposite the hotel is the Okada Museum of Art, which I highly recommend visiting, especially as a Chinese person. The first floor of the five-story museum is dedicated to Chinese porcelain from various dynasties, with the oldest being a green-glazed阁楼 (pavilion) from the 2nd-3rd century BC (Former Han Dynasty), standing about a meter tall. I won't say too much more, as photography of the artifacts is not allowed.

The soundproofing in the room was pretty good. Even though I was placed right next to the elevator, there was hardly any noise. This is my second time staying at this hotel in Yokohama; last time I had a nice sea-view room, but this time I opted for a city view. There was no one at the front desk who spoke Chinese, and their English wasn't very good either. I had to rely on a translation app to check in. Right after I lay down to rest for a bit, I suddenly heard my room door being swiped open. It scared me, and I quickly went to check. Luckily, I had engaged the security chain. A man's hand was already reaching into my room, trying to disengage the chain. There was a male and a female staff member outside the door. I was too shaken to grab my phone, but I understood him asking if I had checked in. I showed him my room card, and he said something else I didn't understand before leaving. The next day, I complained to the platform. The hotel sent three different emails with varying excuses and eventually stopped responding. However, the platform kept following up and communicating with me, which was good.
It's a short walk from Fujisawa Station. We arrived before 3 PM and, since we had sightseeing plans, left our luggage at the front desk without any problems. The room was of average size, but we slept quite well. I had read reviews suggesting there wouldn't be a private shower, but the twin room we booked had a bathtub and shower head. Perhaps it just meant there was no private hot spring bath? The breakfast was good, and you could borrow an iron from the front desk. Overall, it was a good experience.
This is a very spacious onsen ryokan with a kids' book corner and a manga nook. The private onsen baths are free of charge, making it perfect for family trips, though they are quite popular and require a queue. There are complimentary afternoon refreshments and late-night snacks. The courtyard features a bonfire and foot bath. From check-in in the afternoon, there are always facilities to use, and it never feels too crowded, even on weekends, as the space is very well-arranged and comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located right next to Gora Station, making it easy to get around by bus or train. The staff are very friendly, and snacks are constantly replenished, so you don't have to worry about missing out if you arrive late. After a hot spring bath, there's milk and popsicles available. The 24-hour self-service beverage bar also has hot water and hot tea, so those who prefer warm water are covered. The only downside is the lack of a full-length mirror in the room, which is a bit of a pity.

The hotel is nice and not far from the train station. There is a McDonald’s and a Lawson right in front of the hotel, which is very convenient. Transportation is easy and getting around is hassle-free. However, the sound of passing trains can be noticeable, so it may not be suitable for light sleepers.
The hotel is incredibly convenient, located directly within the Odawara Station complex, although it can be a little tricky to find for first-timers. From Odawara Station's East Exit (stay within the station building), take a short escalator down. You'll spot the Lusca mall on your right. Upon entering, Marugame Udon is on your left, and Seijo Ishii supermarket is directly opposite. Walk past Marugame, turn left to exit the mall, then turn right onto a glass-enclosed walkway outside. Continue straight, passing a parking lot on your right. Keep going until you see the hotel's directional sign (like the one in the last photo). Take the escalator up to the 4th floor, where you'll find the hotel lobby.
We stayed in a Double B room, which was relatively spacious and well-suited for a family of three. This particular room type, which we only saw listed on Ctrip, was excellent. The bathroom featured a wet/dry separation but no bathtub. However, the public bath on the 10th floor was very comfortable (remember to bring your own towel!). There's also a foot bath on the 14th floor offering scenic views. If daily cleaning is desired, simply place the 'clean my room' sign outside your door, and fresh towels and yukata will be provided. Even if you forget the sign, they thoughtfully leave fresh yukata and towels at your door – a really nice touch. I appreciated this considerate service that respected our privacy. The bedding was comfortable, and individually packaged facial cleanser, makeup remover, and body lotion were replenished daily.
Odawara is a wonderful city, and this hotel's location makes it extremely convenient for visiting Hakone, Atami, and Kamakura. I would love to visit again and would definitely choose this hotel for my next stay. The only minor downsides were the slight train noise (though I still slept very well during my three-night stay) and the slightly stiff toothbrush provided.

The hotel doesn't have a coin laundry on-site; there's one about 500 meters away, so be prepared for a short walk. On the bright side, a Seven-Eleven convenience store is conveniently located right near the hotel entrance.
The rooms themselves are quite spacious and comfortable. Do note there's no clock or TV, which makes for an incredibly quiet stay.
While there are hot spring facilities, they are gender-separated, and there are no private onsen baths. This is something to keep in mind.
Finally, if you have a car, you'll be perfectly fine. If you arrive without one, the hotel offers a pick-up service, so there's no need to worry.
Additionally, a bus stop right by the hotel entrance makes getting to tourist attractions easy. Just remember to check the bus schedule.

This was my first stay at a Prince Hotels property, and I was really impressed with the facilities. They even had ********* staff who spoke Chinese, which was a huge help. I had such a lovely day there! Definitely book a lake view room if you can. The hotel also offers a shuttle service from Odawara Station three times a day.

Oosiris27This hotel is conveniently located about 200 meters from the Tenyu bus stop, accessible by Hakone's main bus lines, Z03 and J03. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and has a very stylish ambiance. The Japanese-style room, though not huge, was quite spacious and quiet. Despite checking in during February, the room's excellent insulation actually made it feel warm. The private open-air bath on the balcony was amazing; even with outside temperatures around 5 degrees Celsius, the continuous flow of 40-degree-plus hot spring water meant it was never cold. The hotel also offers outdoor public baths and a footbath. Plus, on the 5th floor lobby, there are two free ice cream machines – just ask the front desk for complimentary tokens to enjoy as much as you like – and a continuous supply of various iced teas. I must especially commend the dining experience; half-board (dinner and breakfast) is an absolute must! Upon check-in, the front desk proactively changed our two nights of shabu-shabu to one night of shabu-shabu and one night of kaiseki. Each dinner was a full course, incredibly delicious, and left us completely stuffed. For breakfast, there are two restaurants, and I highly recommend the buffet; the variety is extensive and far superior to the breakfast at the Imperial Hotel, which is often ranked as a top Tokyo dining spot on Ctrip. The hotel also hosts free evening performances, and you can even pay to release sky lanterns. Honestly, if I came to Hakone 100 times, I'd stay at Tenyu 100 times.
GGuest UserTake the Shinkansen from Osaka to Odawara, then transfer to the tram to Hakone Yumoto, and then take a bus to Gora. Two people dragged their suitcases and walked uphill for 15 minutes. They were exhausted. When they arrived at the hotel, they found that they could wait for the train in Gora, and it only took 5 minutes to walk. The hotel facilities are not new, and there are not many guests, mostly Japanese tourists. The hot spring is relatively small, and the water temperature is very high. You have to come out to breathe after soaking for a while. I experienced the private bath and open-air hot spring, and there were a lot of mosquitoes. The food is OK, worthy of the price.
GGuest UserYama No Chaya has its own beauty and serenity. I personally don’t find it hard to locate - 2 bus stops away from Hakone Yumoto station + a 5 minutes walk are worth the stay. (Bus service stopped for one of the days due to bad weather and we walked for 20 minutes to Hakone Yumoto Station - all good)
The team is very hospitable - they also have some English and Chinese speaking staff otherwise simple English is not an issue to communicate. Our butler - Sandip always carry a smile with him, and he ensured we are very well taken care of. Every morning, the team will prepare heat pack and umbrellas for us (it was raining and snowing). In the evening, they made tea and prepared snacks (vary from mochi to sushi) for us upon our returned.
The room we booked is Yamano Ichigo (main wing) - just nice for 2. The viewing platform was where we relaxed every evening and we soaked our tiredness away in our very own private onsen at the basement. Despite of having our own private onsen, I still went to visit 3 other public onsen within the Ryokan - you will not be disappointed.
Our room came with daily breakfast and we added on dinner for 1 night. I must say the chef and culinary team put in their passion and effort to prepare all the dishes. It’s not common for a visitor like me to taste Kaisekai cuisine which I enjoyed very much. You need to take time and an empty stomach to full experience it :) However, my partner and I weren’t used to heavy breakfast and our butler noticed it - we get to change to western style for the rest of the stay which was equally delicious. We are thankful that we minimised food wastage.
Overall, we felt pampered during our stay at Yama no Chaya :) I will return again in the future when I visit Hakone.
AANASTASIIA_BERDNIKOVAThis hotel is a paradise in the mountains of Hakone! Traditional style of the rooms - it feels like you are living in a Japanese family. We were prepared a traditional dinner, which was served in our room. It was very tasty and varied! The hotel has 3 onsen: 2 - private, 1 - public. We visited only the private ones (you need to book a time in advance at the reception upon check-in, the visit time is 30 minutes). It was wonderful! The hotel also provides a transfer from and to the nearest train stations. The rooms are clean, cozy, we slept on tatami under soft blankets. The hotel has a relax room. With massage chairs and a very quiet atmosphere. We stayed in this room after visiting the onsen and got great relaxation. And you are also given national clothes for rest and sleep. It is very beautiful and cute. Breakfasts were also in kaiseki style - varied and unusual. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. this hotel allows tattoo baths. great experience, thank you very much! want to come back again!
TTuntun1101821341Hakone Yumoto Onsen Tenseien Hotel is a very large hotel with excellent service. What impressed me the most were the buffet breakfast and dinner. Both offered a wide variety of Chinese, Japanese, and Western dishes. The sushi and tempura were particularly delicious. The hotel also provides free ice pops, and the onsen (hot spring) baths are plentiful. The next time I visit Hakone, I will definitely choose to stay at Hakone Yumoto Onsen Tenseien Hotel again.

GGuest UserMy husband and I stayed here for the first time. We really enjoyed it. We did privat spa at 5 am. We purchased both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant, the food were amazing and beautiful. The landscape of the hotel were amazing, we felt like in the woods which is the experience that we want.
The hotel located near all transit. 2 minutes walk to the trainstation and 4 minutes to the bus station, super convenient, especially if you carry luggages or the weather is not too good.
It is also very convient to visit museums.
Over all, do more research before arrives, so you know how to purchase tickets to places.

GGuest UserAmazing hotel! The rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The onsen is large and has beautiful views of Mount Fuji from the women's section, but unfortunately, I couldn't see it from the men's. The food was spectacular; I was surprised by the quality, especially for a buffet. The staff, both at reception and in the restaurant, were very friendly and attentive. The only downside would be the location, as it's a bit out of the way, but otherwise, it's excellent.
