Very nice Japanese style room overlooking the river and the tree filled riverbank hill. It was very private. Breakfast and dinner was served at the table and was excellent. Much variety of fish, chicken, pork, tofu, and vegetables. The overall atmosphere was very elegant and relaxed. The ryokan is located right on one of the bus stops for easy access from the train station. It is a short 10 minute walk to the main area of town. There are several onsen pools. Some rotate between men and women at different hours. Very clean with good amenities. Overall a very memorable stay.

A relax and nice view in Kusatsu. The hotel is located a bit far from bus terminal. However, there is a free shuttle bus service which connected with bus service. I strongly encourage the private onsen package where we can taste three different type of onsen in the hotel. My platinum ring changed colour, may be due to the acidity of onsen water😂. The dinner and breakfast inspired and it is good for family trip with a number of accessible service for elderly with physically limitations.

The room is clean, tidy, comfortable, spacious, bright and sanitary. It is very comfortable to live in. The breakfast and dinner are rich and delicious. I arrived early and the front desk arranged for us to check in in advance. The hotel's gold and silver soup is great and it is very comfortable to soak in!

This was the first time my family and I stayed here. It was in a residential area so it was a little hard to find, but the building itself was very clean and spacious. ✨ It has the latest electrical equipment, so it was very hot when we arrived and we were tired, but we were grateful that the air conditioning was working. One of the rooms was also equipped with a projector, so we were able to enjoy our time in the room. Each residence also has its own parking lot, so it was easy to carry our luggage. It's near a residential area so we had to be careful about noise, but we were able to relax very much.

Pros: + Stunning outdoor onsen: The outdoor bath is the highlight. The natural scenery is beautiful, especially with the surrounding mountains and snow. + Tourist-friendly onsen: The resort provides special underwear so guests can comfortably enjoy the onsen without needing to be fully nude, which makes it much more accessible for international visitors. + Excellent kaiseki dinner: The traditional multi-course meal is well-prepared and delicious. Definitely one of the highlights of the stay. + Great atmosphere: The entire setting feels very authentic and relaxing, especially in winter. + Service meets expectations: Staff are professional and the hospitality is solid throughout the stay. Cons: - Outdoor bath is quite far from the main building: You need to walk through a snowy path wearing the traditional yukata, which can feel very cold and slightly inconvenient. - TV lacks modern app support: The in-room TV does not support apps like Netflix or other streaming services. - Tight schedule for check-in and check-out: The first shuttle bus arrives at the resort around 2:00 PM, leaving only a few hours before dinner at 5:45 PM. After dinner you can enjoy the onsen again until midnight, and it reopens at 5:00 AM. However, breakfast starts at 7:00 AM, and guests must check out by 9:00 AM to catch the 9:15 AM bus. This makes the morning feel rushed and limits the time you can spend enjoying the onsen. The rest of your day might be feeling tired. Despite a few inconveniences - mainly the walking distance to the outdoor bath and the tight check-out schedule. Takaragawa Onsen is still a highly enjoyable experience. The stunning outdoor, beautiful scenery, and great kaiseki dinner make it a memorable stay. If you're visiting Japan and want to experience a famous outdoor onsen, this place is definitely worth it and shouldn't be missed.

We had a very good overall experience at this onsen hotel. The atmosphere was relaxing, and we enjoyed our stay very much. We especially appreciated having an English-speaking staff member available — it made communication much easier and helped us feel more comfortable during our visit.

Kanemidori is a short walk from the bus depot. The staff at the reception and restaurant in the hotel were all very nice and helpful. The futons and bedding in the room are very comfortable and warm for winter. You can also control your own in room heater. The hotel onsen is well maintained with full amenities: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash, face pack, hair treatment, and multiple types of lotion. We booked the room only but added on a dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Both meals were carefully prepared and delicious. The main tourist area is within walking distance of the hotel and you can go around in the yukata paired with the long and short kimono jackets provided by the hotel in the winter.

Great location and overall a good stay. I would consider staying again. However, the soundproofing was very poor. I could clearly hear noise from the hallway and the neighboring room, including an alarm that rang for a long time early in the morning. If you are sensitive to noise, this hotel may not be suitable. 立地がとても良く、全体的には満足でした。また宿泊候補の一つです。ただし、防音がかなり悪く、廊下や隣の部屋の音、早朝のアラーム音がはっきり聞こえました。音に敏感な方にはおすすめできません。

HHaoyundingdangmaoThe hotel is quite a walk from the bus center, and the uneven roads make it inconvenient for luggage; taxis are also scarce. The room is spacious, and the tatami area with heating was very comfortable. It was handy to be able to pick up yukata (robes) for men and women in the lobby. The service level at the hotel's front desk was generally poor. They didn't even bother with a fake smile, haha 😂. Japanese service is becoming more expensive and the quality is getting worse – a clear sign of decline. The hot spring pool in the hotel is very small and the facilities are quite old, so don't expect too much. My favorite part was still the Nishinokawara露天温泉 (outdoor hot spring) outside the hotel. It's 100% natural mountain spring water, so healing! For 800 yen, there are no services, no showers, and you need to bring your own towel. It was totally worth the trip and instantly made up for the round-trip train ticket from Tokyo.

BBenjaminsim87Omori has a rich history as a Ryokan. The interior is homely and vintage! Like it’s frozen in time in the 1980s. The lounge has a panoramic view of Mount Akagi and several other mountain ranges. you can sip sake or wine from paid dispensers while you find your zen. The Level 8 outdoor bath is awesome and spacious. Views are awesome and the air is refreshing. Omori is right next to the Ikaho bus station as well as the Ikaho Ropeway. Just a 5mins walk to the stone steps as well. Even though the nearest Kombini (Famimart) is a 15 minute walk away, they have their own minimart. Breakfast was well crafted with hand-picked local Gunma produce. Awesome!!!

JJaQwWe stayed in Naraya House for 1 night and it was perfect. The staffs were all very kind and helpful that I am truly grateful for all their assistance given throughout our stay. We had a suite, rm no.206, it was stunningly amazing! I only know I am booking a suite with a beautiful view of the yubatake and private onsen. I didn't know it's a gigantic duplex suite with the best view of the yubatake! The room door opens to a western style living and dining area that fits with a set of sofa for 6 and a dining table for 4 with 2 benches. To the left of this western style area is 2 double beds, a walk-in closet and a toilet. I could see Japanese syle beddings in a cupboard which I believe they would be made when the room is booked for more than 2 persons. Facing the sofa is a TV panel. Behind the TV is a Japanese style sitting area with a coffee table and a view of the yubatake. The view is picturesque. There you can also find a stairs going down to the suite's private onsen bath. It's actually on a balcony overlooking the yubatake, the same gorgeous view as in its Japanese style sitting area above, just without the windows, ie closer and clearer picture of the yubatake without reflections. But be aware ppl on the street can see u too, as you can see the windows r just next to 7.11 The meal provided was fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the freshly made sushi. The salmon roe was just so fresh that they were actually shining like marbles. All the ingredients used are high quality. My kid, who is usually picky on food, was pleased with the menu. He already wanted to come back again. Next time, we will stay here for more nights in order to better experience the beauty of Kusatzu. Ps I usually don't bother to write a review, I am doing this one in return to the hotel's great service and hospitality. Thank you and until next time~

SShuiyonglexiaotuzaiziI booked two rooms. In one of them, even with the heating set to 28 degrees, it was still freezing cold, and I shivered through the night. In the other room, with the heating set to just 20 or 21 degrees, it was unbearably hot. For a hot spring hotel, not having a private in-room hot spring bath and only a shower is a bit of a letdown. I booked three hot spring hotels for this trip, and this one was the least comfortable. Overall, it was just okay.

GGuest UserThe hotel facilities are a bit old, but the location is excellent. The front desk even has staff who speak Chinese, and there's a great selection of free yukata to choose from right next to the front desk. Both breakfast and dinner are buffet-style, and the restaurant offers a rich variety of food, including all-you-can-drink draft beer.

GGuest UserRoom & vibes Stayed in a traditional tatami room and it was so Japanese in the best way – futon, tatami smell, the whole ryokan fantasy. Super cosy, perfect if you’re here to soak, chill, and live your best onsen‑town main‑character life. Buildings & facilities Hotel has three blocks, all connected via the main building, so you’ll always pass through it anyway. Most of the good stuff – hot springs, buffet etc. – is in the Annex building where I stayed, so it was really convenient, just no Yubatake view (that’s only for the main building rooms). Location & mini shopping zone They literally have their own shopping area on the first floor of the main building, right by Yubatake and the hot spring street, so you can roll out of the hotel in yukata and start browsing. Super easy to snack, shop, then hop back into the onsen without feeling like you “went out”. Transport & walking in snow There’s a shuttle bus to the nearest public transport stop, so luggage days are easy. You can walk it in under 10 minutes, but in snow season the road gets icy and crazy slippery, so honestly not recommended unless you trust your shoes (and your balance). Staff & service energy Hotel staff are amazing – super friendly and actually proactive. Besides Japanese and English, some staff speak Mandarin and will just switch to it to help you out, and they’ll even offer to take photos for you before you have the chance to ask, which is perfect for solo or shy travellers.

GGuest UserThe hotel service attitude is very good. The hotel staff remembers every guest, the staff get shoes and put them at the door, and can help me. Another hotel where we could go skiing and return with peace of mind. Check in at that hotel directly is ok. Breakfast and Dinner The hotel sends an English-speaking one-on-one service.
