This is a fabulous place for an authentic Japanese holiday. The location is beautiful. The outdoor hot spring bathing area is clean and looks like a movie set. The included meals are generous in portion size and are delicious. Our room overlooked the river and it was great. Tatami floors and shoji screen windows. This is an old and historic place and does not cater to western norms. You sleep on futons on the floor. Only Japanese food is available. But it is a wonderful place to spend some time.

We had a very good overall experience at this onsen hotel. The atmosphere was relaxing, and we enjoyed our stay very much. We especially appreciated having an English-speaking staff member available — it made communication much easier and helped us feel more comfortable during our visit.

We stayed in a warm and comfortable tatami room, which included two meals. The hotel offers a convenient shuttle service to and from the station, and the staff were very attentive throughout our stay. The on-site hot spring was excellent; it snowed heavily the day we visited, and soaking in the hot spring while watching the snow fall was truly a magical experience. We also enjoyed the complimentary delicious late-night snack provided in the evening. Additionally, parking is available, which is convenient for those driving.

I really liked the Comfort Hotel. Great location, easy access from maebashi train station and quick walk to shopping areas. The room was just what we needed with helpful amenities. Staff are lovely and helpful. Would recommend for a short stay.

The hotel is not far from the station, about a five-minute drive away. Near the hotel is Tianyi Art Museum whose owner is an artist of traditional Shakuhachi musical instruments. The decoration and details of the hotel are very artistic. Inadvertently found a hotel with a local traditional culture atmosphere. You need to make an appointment if you have a private soup, and you can see the outdoor scenery. Public soups for men and women are separated and served 24 hours a day. The breakfast is delicious and authentic with local specialties. The dinner will provide musical instrument performance and experience. Interesting.

It was pretty close to the stone steps, which was nice, but the building was a bit old and the food was average. We were given a 4,000 yen voucher for two people, but it couldn't be used to buy souvenirs at the shop, and could only be used for drinks at dinner, so we didn't drink Angkor, and we ended up with about 3,000 yen left. Very disappointing!

May not come again. The hotel rate is considered pricey because the service did not meet that price standard. We booked a private onsen and found out there is limit number of times you can use onsen. In fact, only 1 person used once at night and in the morning. When we used in the morning, the water is as low as below knee height. After calling the front desk several times, there is still no onsen water. Food is simple, like those we can find in local food restaurant.

The hotel is located in the highest location of Yixiangbao Street, which is very convenient when going out. The hotel room is Japanese-style tatami, the mattress is very thick and comfortable, and you will not feel back pain after sleeping. The room space is also very large, with a sofa and dining area, and there is no feeling of cramped at all. The hotel staff was very friendly and saw us as non-local, and a foreign staff member who was good at English took the initiative to help. Knowing that we did not buy the hotel restaurant dinner, we will introduce the nearby restaurant, thanks to her introduction, we found an izakaya nearby, the food standard is also very high. The hot springs are divided into men and women, and will be exchanged at specific times so that customers can enjoy all the hot springs. The hot springs are divided into indoor and open air, all very comfortable. The whole hotel is very large and the decoration is Japanese style. If you go to Yixiangbao next time, you will also choose Fuyi again. This hotel with a high CP value.

Rooms were small and tight for a couple. Location was great with the rail station just next door. Eateries were easy to find and there is a mall. Super convenient if you need anything. Overall we had a great stay

I stayed at this onsen hostel and had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent—very convenient for exploring the area. The staff spoke English, which made communication smooth, and the place had a nice mix of Japanese and Western atmosphere. Everything was clean and comfortable. That said, I was hoping for a more traditional, authentic onsen experience. Still, it’s a great option for travelers looking for comfort and accessibility.

BBenjaminsim87Omori has a rich history as a Ryokan. The interior is homely and vintage! Like it’s frozen in time in the 1980s. The lounge has a panoramic view of Mount Akagi and several other mountain ranges. you can sip sake or wine from paid dispensers while you find your zen. The Level 8 outdoor bath is awesome and spacious. Views are awesome and the air is refreshing. Omori is right next to the Ikaho bus station as well as the Ikaho Ropeway. Just a 5mins walk to the stone steps as well. Even though the nearest Kombini (Famimart) is a 15 minute walk away, they have their own minimart. Breakfast was well crafted with hand-picked local Gunma produce. Awesome!!!

BbrianchuThe ancient charm and the hard work of the staff in maintaining it allow visitors to experience the charm of 140 years. The daily meals are so exquisite that you can't bear to eat them. The exquisite menus are taken home for storage. Although the hot spring area is not large, the number of guest rooms is not large, but it is still very comfortable. There are also single hot spring rooms that can be reserved for families.

JjohnyjohnsonLocation - about 10min walk from the bus terminal at Kusatsu station. Walkable unless it's snowy or froze on the ground as part of the path is quite steep to walk up. Not hard to find as the town is quite close to everything. About 15min walk to yubatake for the famous onsen for pictures and local food and snacks. You can walk to the Sainokawara Onsen(open air public onsen) for about 8min which is located just behind the hotel itself. Service - they do provide transport to and from Yubatake with a specific timetable. They also have an open luggage area at the main hall if you area before check-in you could just leave the luggage and explore the town. They also have separate gender onsen with both indoor and outdoor facilities. They came around 7pm to my room to offer to set up my sleeping mattress. The dinner time was 6.45pm to 8pm and they may vary between seasons. You will be located in a seat in the dining room so don't worry about the crowd and having to fight for your seat. It's buffet style food and I read previous comments about food being cold. They aren't cold as it was heated around 60c ish but the moment food leaves the Bain Marie it will become cold especially during winter. Alcohol is included but you need to be 18 years old. They will start closing some stations including soft serve around 7.30pm so do get there earlier. Cleanliness - just an older building and maintenance pretty ok. You could tell from the design it's a bit outdated but it wasn't dirty or messy. Amenities - they have a Japanese sleep/bath robe at the main hall for guests to take if you need. There's no wifi in the room unfortunately and the only free wifi provided by the hotel is just located down at the main hall. I was given a Japanese style room which is pretty standard. It was on the 7th floor so it came with a pretty good view.

GGuest UserThe location is great, right in front of the Yubatake. The room is quite old, so the toilet, bath, and sink are small, but the steak and tempura for dinner were delicious. I didn't know there was a last shuttle bus from the parking lot, so I arrived after the last one had left, but they arranged an extra bus and got me to the hotel safely. Next time, I'd like to arrive a little earlier and explore Kusatsu.

GGuest UserRoom & vibes Stayed in a traditional tatami room and it was so Japanese in the best way – futon, tatami smell, the whole ryokan fantasy. Super cosy, perfect if you’re here to soak, chill, and live your best onsen‑town main‑character life. Buildings & facilities Hotel has three blocks, all connected via the main building, so you’ll always pass through it anyway. Most of the good stuff – hot springs, buffet etc. – is in the Annex building where I stayed, so it was really convenient, just no Yubatake view (that’s only for the main building rooms). Location & mini shopping zone They literally have their own shopping area on the first floor of the main building, right by Yubatake and the hot spring street, so you can roll out of the hotel in yukata and start browsing. Super easy to snack, shop, then hop back into the onsen without feeling like you “went out”. Transport & walking in snow There’s a shuttle bus to the nearest public transport stop, so luggage days are easy. You can walk it in under 10 minutes, but in snow season the road gets icy and crazy slippery, so honestly not recommended unless you trust your shoes (and your balance). Staff & service energy Hotel staff are amazing – super friendly and actually proactive. Besides Japanese and English, some staff speak Mandarin and will just switch to it to help you out, and they’ll even offer to take photos for you before you have the chance to ask, which is perfect for solo or shy travellers.

SSRL13064Excellent service. I will give 10 out of 5 if I could. There was a staff who rushed out to us and asked if we were going to stay at the Ryokan. Very helpful for lost travelers overwhelmed by the cold weather. Greeted us warmly when we arrived. Explained the important information to us as best as they could in English, which is perfectly fine. Room was big. Decorated meticulously in the traditional Japanese style. Yukata and Obi provided added on to the immersive experience. Dinner was exquisite. Dishes gave us a taste of what traditional Japanese cuisine was like. The food was sincere (didn’t feel like frozen / canned / ready made food), served and plated meticulously. There were 2 onsens, indoor and outdoor. They were clean and spacious enough. Water (I believe) is from the hot spring nearby and was immensely therapeutic. Ryokan was near the heart of the town and everything was within walking distance. Kindly shuttled us to the bus terminal when we checked out (we didn’t have to wait for fixed timings) and carried our (heavy) luggage. All in all, we enjoyed the one night stay very much and they set a high bar for Japanese hospitality.

GGuest UserWonderful experience! Staff were excellent and the perk of having an on site lounge for snacks and drinks was a bonus. Hotel could explain the request for wearing the provided “room wear” for those unfamiliar with the practice. Once I understood the request it was fun to wander around in the provided clothing!

AAimee AzizThe location of the hotel is actually near to the bus station but because it is elevated therefore it was quite tiring especially when we have luggage. Therefore please book the shuttle bus in advanced. The shuttle also will bring you to the onsen part of the city so its very convenient. It is a nice hotel but a bit old. The hotel and room can use some upgrading. We took the tatami room which is veryy big room. The tatami also is suuper comfortable. The room has no shower in the room. Just a sink and a toilet. So to shower, you will need to go to the onsen at the basement. Its very nice with very warm water to soak in. They also have a gift shop that has the local snacks and souvenirs, kids area and manga corner as well as vending machines. Our room came with breakfast which has all the local delicacies. Super interesting. Overall nice hotel but could use some sprucing up.
