We recently stayed at Hotel Okura in Niigata and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautifully situated overlooking the Shinano River, providing stunning views, especially during sunset. The location is very convenient, with easy access to the JR Niigata Train Station and Niigata Airport, making it a great base for exploring the area.
The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. We particularly enjoyed the variety of dining options available at the hotel, including a French restaurant and a Japanese restaurant.
The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. We appreciated their attentiveness and willingness to assist with any requests we had.
Overall, Hotel Okura Niigata offers a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and excellent service. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Niigata.
Art hotel in Niigata is great. A very accessible location in many restaurants around especially the main station of Niigata. The hotel is clean and they have a very welcoming staff. We stayed there for one night only but we will definitely stay again.
Great location, within 5mins walking distance from Niigata station. There are nearby convenience stores. The place also seemed to be recently renovated and is well maintained. Staff service was good. affordable breakfast buffet option is also available. The food was very good, the locally sourced rice is excellent.
It was conveniently located near the station!
I went by car, and it was great to be able to park right next to it for 1,100 yen for one night. There were only a limited number of spaces, so it was first come, first served.
The floor of the unit bath was dirty...there was hair on it and it looked like bath salts had been left behind...
Breakfast was simple, but included, and I think it was very good value for the price.
The hotel is right next to Niigata Station, with direct access from the third-floor exit, which is very convenient. The hotel is average in size but the bathroom is not cramped, which is a good comment. The room is also relatively new. It's just that the breakfast is really lackluster, there is nothing to eat at all, but the breakfast is not expensive. Will stay again next time.
Great value for money at this classic hotel. The room key is quite vintage, and they even provide free facial masks. The location is excellent, very close to Niigata Station, and there are plenty of dining options nearby. The only downside might be the lack of a hot spring bath, which would be really nice to have, especially in winter.
The hotel is a short walk from the train station. It was quite a walk to the sightseeing spots so we had to go to the station to catch a loop bus. The hotel was clean and has nice onsen. It's convenient that Dormy Inn provides drinks or even noodles and icecreams. The rooms are not big though.

__WeChat291341****The rooms are classic Japanese style with fairly complete facilities. The ski resort and cable car are right outside, making it a perfect place to relax. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The guesthouse also offers a variety of delicious food. After a tiring day of skiing, you can go back to the guesthouse for a hot shower – it's incredibly relaxing! I'll definitely come back with friends next time. Highly recommended!
GGuest UserThank you for providing the comfortable hot springs and clean accommodations, allowing us to relax and unwind during our trip. However, our service during this stay fell short of expectations, and we would like to offer some sincere feedback as a reference for your pursuit of excellence.
First, it must be acknowledged that the hotel's facilities are indeed commendable. The excellent quality of the hot springs, and the consistently clean and tidy public areas and guest rooms, demonstrate a five-star hotel's commitment to basic quality, which is impressive.
However, the core of a true five-star experience lies in the service provided by the ”people,” and this is precisely what we found most regrettable. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we experienced an unexpected ”self-service” atmosphere. We were carrying a lot of ski equipment, making movement quite difficult, yet no porter offered to help us unload our luggage or provide guidance. We had to carry our heavy ski equipment and luggage piece by piece from the vehicle to the luggage cart ourselves; the chaotic process contrasted sharply with the attentive and welcoming service we had expected.
After check-in, several attempts to contact the front desk for inquiries were unsuccessful as the phone remained unanswered for extended periods. This communication breakdown inevitably caused anxiety and helplessness at crucial moments. Furthermore, occasional obstacles were encountered in communicating with staff in English, leading to unnecessary misunderstandings. The most obvious example was a notification letter we received regarding upcoming maintenance work in our room; the English version contained significant translation errors regarding the dates of the work, causing initial confusion. These details reflect room for improvement in the hotel's international service standards.
Additionally, adding hot and cold water dispensers to the common area, particularly in the coffee corner, would be beneficial.
BbeebiezIf you want true ski in ski out , then I would recommend this hotel. The lifts are just just 50 meters outside the hotel buildings and they lockers for each room to keep your gears, which is very convenient. As for breakfast the spread is acceptable for the price charged.
The rooms are rather small and I found some dusts on the furnitures. It would be better if the reception staff can speak better English, I had to go back 3 times because they kept on giving me the wrong room card (they mixed up my father’s room card and mine 3 times!). I appreciated that they offered to give me a fan when I told them the heat was too stuffy.
The vending machines are pretty pricey even for water so it’s better to be prepared.
Onsen is small and the changing area is often quite wet so don’t expect much.
Overall not bad if you want ski in ski out near Tokyo.
GGuest UserNot the most modern. But very cosy and warm, impeccable service and hospitality. Child play facilities inside the hotel (up to 6 or 7 years old). That's a bar for the adults too, open tab until the night. Private onsen is available for 1000jpy for 45 minutes, and is adjacent but separate to the public onsen that is available to hotel guests. Parking is just outside the hotel. Restaurants and snow gear rental is available down the road.
LLieu Munn LoongMy wife and I have had a 3-night stay at this Toyoko Inn Joetsu Myok Eli Nishi Gucci Room #1306 from 13 to 16 October 2025.
The Hotel is just a 1-minute walk away from the Joetsumyoko Station. Similar to other Toyoko Inns, the modest reception is on the First Floor and it has limited parking lots on besides the Hotel, and also a bigger open car park about a 2-minute walk away. So we are grateful and thankful that we were given a lot for just ¥300 per day for 3 days at the open car park very nearby. The Hotel staff are polite and helpful, and are not quite able to communicate in simple English.
As the Hotel is located quite away from the city centre of this very small city, so there is no shopping centre nearby except a few eateries are near the Station and within comfortable walking distance.
The hotel room is the standard typical type whereby it is small but very clean. The bed and pillows are comfortable for our liking, and the small bathroom - again the typical Japanese type - is clean and its has strong water pressure for a comfortable shower.
Like all Toyoko Inns, the Hotel provides daily breakfast of simple home cook styles; varieties are limited, but it is very comforting that gives a nice start for the day. Also, it offers free coffee and tea via machines 24 hours daily.
At SGD S$97 per night with breakfast, we find it value for money and we will choose to stay here if we travel to Joetsu or Myoko again.
SSze Yu FungMy wife and I visited this onsen resort in 2023 and we loved it. My wife especially likes the many onsens they have. We have always wanted to come here again and finally did after 3 years. Like three years ago, the room and facilities are very clean and well maintained everything just as they were. One thing did change and we are quite upset about it, is that the staff is not as enthusiastic as they were (there are some familiar faces, many new ones). I still recommend this place to everyone, Futaba is still the best compared to the other two onsen resorts we’ve visited in between. Hope they can figure out some way to motivate the staff and offer a better experience to guests.
KK三浦We have continued to use it since last year.
The size of the room is similar to that of a typical business hotel, but it is kept clean and the bed is comfortable.
Because location is near interchange, it is convenient to go here and there.
HHuikLocation is good walking 3 mins to reach echigo yuzawa station. One of the highlight—you can ask hotel call to th ski rental shop, they will come to hotel pick you, first to the shop and after choosing ski equipment, then they will arrange a driver fetch us to the Gala Yuzawa, that’s very convenient.
EEduTWe had an amazing time at NASPA New Otani — this hotel is a fantastic choice if you’re visiting Yuzawa, especially for a winter getaway! The staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay, making us feel right at home from check-in to check-out.
Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable — perfect for relaxing after a day of skiing. The location is ideal for winter sports lovers with ski-in/ski-out access to the slopes and easy shuttle service to Echigo-Yuzawa Station, which made getting around a breeze even in snowy weather.
The onsen and bathing facilities were relaxing and just what we needed after spending time outdoors. The buffet breakfast and dinner had plenty of variety and were really enjoyable, with something for everyone.
While the hotel is set a little away from town, the free shuttle made it convenient to explore the area if we wanted. Overall, it felt like a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and superb service — highly recommended!
