Room was okay, AC was not working luckily it was cloudy, but when the sun came out room got warm due to large west facing window, get the AC fixed, they knew it was broke as a sign had been placed on it saying it was not working.
Do not recommend dining in the bar. As I was heading to the beach to watch the sunset, I asked for the pie in the case and was told I will have a 45 mins wait along with other diners! There is another restaurant before Heartland where the fish n chips was really good. Had it for lunch.
I chose this hotel because it was right in town with complimentary parking. Views of the river and up the Grey Valley were nice.
Chose not to dine here, as the restaurant was in the bar and quite small.
Sadly, there was mo aircon in the room or any building air circulation, which made the room a bit stuffy and certainly warm. There was a plug-in, free-standing fan. The door to the small balcony could open but it had no screen, so flies came in.
The shower tray filled with water after each shower. Not a pleasant experience.
I couldn't get the room safe to work....seemed like the lock was jammed on.
Towels were fluffy and crisp white.
Beds were comfy with plenty of pillows and extra blankets.
Good size tv with large selection of channels.
Mini fridge, complimentary tea, coffee and milk etc.
A pleasant few days in calm surroundings. Great ocean and sunset views. Staff were friendly and welcoming on arrival and eager to satisfy any requests throughout our stay. Accommodation was immaculately clean and well presented.
This is a small place, don't make too many demands. The hotel is a super historic hotel, things are relatively old, don't mess it up. The proprietress is also very friendly and tells you all the information. Of course, wifi does not work well. . I am the spark phone booth outside. Of course, if you change your mindset, look at the scenery more and use less Wi-Fi. Make dinner by yourself and cook everything. Opposite is the lake with nice scenery, it's good to go for a walk.
The hotel is very clean, with heating and electric blankets, so it's not cold; the view outside the window is also very good. The boss lady is very nice, but it's a bit far from the center. If you don't have a car, it's not very convenient. You have to walk a long way, but the boss lady is very good and offered to take us
The boss is not good, he introduces the surrounding environment, there are supermarkets, barbecue shops, bars nearby, you can shop for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and have a laundry dryer. We can't speak English, the boss specially called the Chinese guy in the store to translate, which is great.
Spending New Year’s Eve here this year is particularly memorable! This is a rare hotel on the West Coast that feels close to a five-star hotel in every aspect, and it also has a very nice jacuzzi! Opposite the hotel is Bucclengh, the restaurant of the Centenary Hotel, and the New Year's Eve dinner is also served. It is highly recommended! After dinner, it takes about 20 minutes to walk to the beach (actually driving may be more comfortable haha)
The hotel is located a few minutes walk from the bus station. The rooms are well-equipped and clean. Although the hotel is called a motel, it is actually very comfortable and convenient for non-self-driving travelers. The hotel owner is very friendly and sincere, and is a reasonable young man. We had no choice of bus because there was only one bus arriving in the morning, and it was raining. We urgently needed to check in early. The hotel occupancy rate was full, and we understood that it was difficult for the hotel, but the hotel still arranged to clean a room for us in advance. The two waitresses were also very kind, friendly and enthusiastic, and easy to communicate with. In short, choosing this hotel makes you feel at home. I recommend this hotel.

SSandraHoRimu Lodge was an absolute delight. From the moment we arrived, the owner, Sue Allen, made us feel incredibly welcome. Our room was beautifully decorated and offered a breathtaking view, creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere. Every detail was thoughtfully curated—from the fresh milk for our tea and coffee to the complimentary drinks and chocolates, all adding to the sense of warmth and hospitality.
Breakfast was exceptional, with a delicious selection of cooked options to choose from. The entire experience was nothing short of wonderful. I highly recommend staying for at least two nights to fully appreciate the charm and comfort of this remarkable lodge.
GGuest UserThe male receptionist who greeted us was not particularly friendly; and only when we got to our first floor room did we read about a luggage service. The room was tastefully furnished and clean, and other staff we interacted with were friendly. However the biggest issue is that the walls between rooms are are paper thin so we could hear people next door and doors banging. This woke us up early on both nights we stayed. If you stay - bring ear plugs. There was a lounge with a bar - the bar was permanently closed so there was no where to get a hot or cold drink unless you went to a cafe down the road.
TTohArrived at the hotel a little bit late for the check-in, but the reception was very accommodating and still processed for us with a big smile and was very friendly!
Rooms were very clean, complete with AC and heater, towels provided as well.
Laundry avail for use (paid use only and hours apply)
Beds were nice, great amenities! With full kitchen including fridge, stove, microwave and washing sink. Cooking utensils and pots pans avail too.
Wasn't expecting much for a motel but this was actually a really great and comfortable stay!
Short 2 to 5min drive to nearest supermarkets and petrol stations
1123-travellerA typical motel with its own kitchen and bathroom. The room facilities are very good and the hygiene is also very good. In addition to the bed, there are sofas, dining tables and dining chairs. There are front and back doors, parking on one side, and a lawn and leisure platform on the other side. The service staff is very enthusiastic and will tell you the nearby tourist information and weather conditions. The hotel is on the Fox Glacier Road. Go to Lake Mathisen and the glacier viewing point on the right hand side of the door. Just drive straight and follow the road signs. No navigation is required. In short, it is cost-effective and very satisfactory.
WWater TravelThe staff is very helpful, she asked me where to go when checking out, she told us the road is being blocked for our next next station. So that we can change our itinerary anc book another motel, otherwise our trip will be in a mess.
The motel location is good, only the walking distance can reach the town center and the beach. However the motel is quiet, we can hear the bird sound to wake us up.
But pls note that the motel do not provide toothpaste and toothbrush, remember bring them by yourself.
HHUACHIHWe came here to stay by train. Although the motel is not very new, it has everything. There are supermarkets and daily necessities stores at the foot of the mountain. It takes about ten minutes to walk there. When the sidewalk is about to disappear, there is a trail connecting it in a hidden place, and you can walk to the parking lot of the grocery store.
The hotel can pick you up at the train station, which is actually very suitable for people like us who have big luggage from overseas and don’t have a car. recommend
QQiqidetaikongmanyouThe self-driving trip from Christchurch to Greymouth lasted until very late, and we went to Pancake Rock and West Piont, a nearby 1-hour drive. After checking out the accommodation, this one suited our requirements better, so we decided to drive a little longer. Hokkitika, it was already past 11 o'clock when we arrived at the hotel. I called the staff and told them to put the key directly in the room. This is a family suite with 2 rooms. Because I booked one bedroom and one living room, the other twin room was Not used.
There is a Glow Warm spot in Hokkitika, but I didn’t go there because I arrived too late.
The living room of the room is spacious and can be connected to the APP for screencasting. There is a wireless charger on the dining table. The bathroom is relatively large and the bed is surprisingly clean and comfortable. When I wake up in the morning and look at the sun outside, I can see the local residents outside the window. It feels like I am living in a small town. On, unique and beautiful memories. Everyone put the 🔑 on the office desk when they went out in the morning. Overall, the impression was very good. recommend! !
