I stayed at a hotel in Samarkand City and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is new, very beautiful, and exceptionally clean. Everything was great, and the service overall was very good. The only minor issue I encountered was with one staff member at the reception who was a bit rude. However, this did not affect my overall stay, and I truly enjoyed my time there.
Excellent place to start. Very helpful and intelligent owner with university degree on art history and great colleciton of Samarqand related books, etc. Close to al-Maturidi Mausoleum, about 10min walk to either Registan or Shah-i Zinda Complex.
This is one of the most upscale hotels in Samarkand. The staff are incredibly attentive and meticulous, and the food is also excellent. The hotel also features a lovely garden where you can dine, making for a truly wonderful experience.
Great location, good price, and a courtyard.
The triple room was very spacious. I had breakfast for three days, and the variety varied each day, but it was all delicious.
The heated towel rack in the bathroom was very practical, and there were free water dispensers on every floor, so you could always get plenty of water!
The front desk staff was friendly and spoke good English.
It was a great place to stay in Samarkand.
From the moment I arrived, the host made me feel completely at home — super kind, always smiling, and genuinely helpful with tips about where to go and how to get around. It didn’t feel like just checking into a hostel, more like being welcomed into someone’s home.
The breakfast every morning was such a treat. Fresh, tasty, and prepared with care — the kind of breakfast that actually makes you look forward to waking up early. It gave me the perfect energy to start exploring the city.
The location couldn’t have been better. It’s right in a very convenient spot, close enough to walk to the main sights but still in a peaceful area where you can relax after a busy day. I loved being able to step out and reach Samarkand’s incredible landmarks so easily.
Overall, Old Radio Hostel has such a cozy, warm vibe. Between the amazing host, the delicious food, and the perfect location, it really felt like a home away from home. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants a comfortable and authentic stay in Samarkand — I’d definitely stay here again!
Very spacious room with nice breakfast! The staff were super kind and understanding.
Located in a quiet street end, it does become quite dark during nighttime, but I didn’t feel threatened at all.
The keys are hard to master, though, so I advise people to pay attention to the instructions, I cannot count how many times I was helped by the staff…
Overall, this was a great stay near the Registan Square, and I would recommend this place to anyone seeking a good night’s sleep near Registan.
The hotel is simply wonderful! Very clean, friendly staff! Breakfast is excellent! The spa is superb! I really liked it, I recommend it! If I'm in Samarkand again, I will definitely book this hotel!
We had one of the best stay in Uzbekistan here in this Old City Samarkand Hotel! Zafar was very kind enough to help us with various questions throughout the whole stay and of course the room was very neat and comfortable, just like it’s shown on the website.
Breakfast was also nice to start a day, traffics a bit chaotic but Yandex taxi makes it easy to get to the main attractions in the city center.
Highly recommend this hotel to stay.
I was initially surprised by the mixed-use room, but I quickly adjusted. The neighbors were pleasant and quiet, and no one disturbed anyone else. The hosts were pleasant and helpful when needed. All the sights were within easy reach.

GGuest UserWe are so happy and satisfied with this hotel until the day we checked out. We were accused of taking the laundry bag which is worth 300k Uzbek SUM. I went up with 2 staff and it turned out it was in the drawer all the time (the funny thing is I never even touched it.) I don’t blame these 2 staff as I know it is their responsibility to make sure nothing was missing/stolen (though next time it would be appreciated if they can check it more thoroughly.)
What truly pissed me off is the attitude from another female staff at the reception named Zarifa. From the moment we checked out, she just looked grumpy and when my friend said “we never used it”, she reacted with “I am sure you did” in a very rude way! Even later on, it turned out to be in the drawer in the room, she was not even apologetic (the other 2 staff at least said “sorry for the mistake.”
This is one of the 2 five star hotels in Samarkand and I just hope what we paid at this hotel is equivalent to the amount of respect you show to your customers. The hotel really NEEDS to put more training in your staff’s service.
By the way, we had a really nice chat with another staff named “Firdav” at the first floor bar (if I remember his name correctly, he is tall and bit skinny). He had worked in Hilton for 2 years and the professionalism and politeness he demonstrated is just another level. PLEASE LEARN FROM HIM THAT HOW A STAFF AT 5 STAR HOTEL SHOULD BEHAVE AND TREAT THEIR GUESTS!!
MMladenowskiWe were thoroughly satisfied with our stay at this hotel. Upon arrival, the front desk manager kindly upgraded our room to a suite in celebration of my wife's upcoming birthday—a thoughtful gesture that set the tone for our visit. The suite, featuring a separate bedroom and living room, was impeccably clean and beautifully maintained.
Breakfast was delicious, offering a wide range of continental options. While I would have appreciated more local dishes, the variety and quality were excellent. Both the reception and dining staff were friendly, attentive, and eager to assist. The SPA area and swimming pool were spacious, clean, and designed to offer plenty of privacy, even when other guests were present.
Tip: About 100 meters to the left of the hotel, there’s a fantastic local BBQ restaurant with affordable, tasty food.
A heartfelt thanks to the hotel management and staff for the upgrade and making our stay truly memorable.
HHoracio AngelThe location near the Registan and Timur's Mausoleum is ideal. Located in an old neighborhood, it's wonderful to walk around and experience everyday life. The cleanliness, reception, and room service are all excellent. The Wi-Fi is very good at reception but terrible in the rooms. The pool is shared by families in one-hour shifts, which seems to be culturally appropriate. Both the sauna and the pool are very nice, but you'll need to book in advance.
KKhaira EsmaliStaffs are friendly especially the one that is assigned in day time who always makes us coffee during our 3 days stay.. Kodus also to the lady (chef) who brought us pancake and toast bread during breakfast! 👌
but the other staff at night shift is a bit unfriendly.. Place is aesthetic even though location is not so ideal. Wifi is so bad and Smart Tv is not updated so we still need to set up the TV in order for us to be able to use Netflix and youtube. Overall, its still good!
GGuest UserThe room is huge and felt more like an apartment. Good heating system and tucked away from the craziness of the city. Only con is that even though it is only 20 or so minutes away from the city, it is absolutely isolated and there’s nowhere to even purchase water or snacks.
GGuest UserThe hotel is almost new and very nice and spotless clean. The only problem is the location is far from the city center. Staff in the reception are helpful but the staff in the bar don’t care about serving guests. I had an incident in the first day I checked in and went to the bar and asked for a drink. After waiting for 10 minutes, I walked up to the counter where two employees were chatting and reminded them of my request. Another 10 minutes passed and I went again to the counter and told them to bring my drink. I was the only guest in the place and the employees weren’t busy except chatting. I was infuriated for their lack of respect and ignoring my presence. It’s only after twenty minutes I got my drink. I paid 10% service charge on top of my bill for very poor service.
MMirkozar86Beautiful hotel, clean, modern design and great facilities. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to try their breakfast which sounded promising. The spa facilities (pool, sauna and hammam) are very clean and not busy at all. The room was very spacious and even though is a huge hotel it didn’t feel crowded.
KKeaihouziThe hotel lobby service is very average. The bellhops who drove to the lobby door were not enthusiastic and did not greet guests quickly. You had to call them. The check-in staff were also not enthusiastic and inefficient. Shouldn't they be enthusiastic and quick when you stay for two nights and extend your stay the next day? But the woman was impatient and perfunctory👎; the price is not low for local consumption. A very small room costs more than 1,500 RMB a night. Hilton is a five-star hotel, so shouldn't it provide corresponding services? The hotel's hardware facilities are good, but the soft service training is very poor. Because the hotel is remote and similar to a park, the driver who picked us up could not reach the hotel entrance due to the road closure caused by the local sports meeting, and the hotel shuttle bus was needed to take us out. After the bellhops sent us to the parking lot outside, he didn't even bother to help take the luggage out of the car, and just stood there waiting for us to take it ourselves. I really don't understand how the staff are trained. The service is very poor.
AAnonymous UserThis is one of the most upscale hotels in Samarkand. The staff are incredibly attentive and meticulous, and the food is also excellent. The hotel also features a lovely garden where you can dine, making for a truly wonderful experience.
AAnonymous UserWith such a rich breakfast, such cute cats and such a cheap price, there is no reason not to live here. Very good accommodation experience. Everything is very good. Very welcoming.
