AMY GONZALES

Fushimi Inari Taisha

It's probably one of the must-visit spots in Kyoto. It seems to stay open quite late. This place really is a 'grand shrine'; it takes at least half a day to explore it all. And there are many steps to go up and down, so remember to wear comfortable shoes. It's quite different from the serene atmosphere of an average temple; the colors are very vibrant, and the light and shadow effects are great. If there aren't many people, it's suitable for taking photos. Unfortunately, it was extremely crowded when I went, so the experience was just average. I plan to go after 6 p.m. next time to see what's different between night and day. The Senbon Torii gates are a must-see; it's quite an interesting temple.
