A trip to Northern Thailand is not complete without visiting the White Temple in Chiang Rai

This is a must-visit place in Chiang Rai, the Wat Rong Khun, also known as the White Temple. It was expanded from the original temple in the village. The famous Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat led the construction, without accepting any external donations. The construction was self-funded, growing from the original 30 workers to thousands, and it is still under construction. The white sculptures are decorated with shards of glass, shining brilliantly under the sun. The golden toilet symbolizes that wealth is as worthless as excrement, not brought with birth nor taken after death. The master originally said that there would be no admission fee for life, but now it is 100 Thai baht.
