Wuling Ancient State

Youzhou Ancient City: Also known as Wuling Ancient State, it is a museum of Tujia architecture, history, folklore, and culture. The ancient city was founded during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty. It was the Tusi Yamen built by the 12th generation Tusi of Youyang, and after more than 10 generations of Tusi's renovation, it once became the center of politics, economy, and culture at the junction of Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, and Guizhou. During the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, Zhang Zhidong, the Governor-General of Huguang, inscribed the two characters 'Youzhou' for the ancient city on the swaying stilted building.
