It was definitely an enjoyable and worthy experience of traditional ryokan with tatami and futon with the best view of Mt. Fuji from the room window! The hotel itself overlooks parts of Mt. Fuji with Lake Kawaguchiko, and we even added on dinner and breakfast during the stay! They are simply one of the best meals during the trips in Tokyo! The onsen is another bonus to enjoy while seeing the view of Mt Fuji, even though it is public hot spring which might be a culture shock. Definitely worth to try it out again to enjoy the traditional Japan vibes around Lake Kawaguchiko.

Guest UserBeautiful Ryokan with private onsen overlooking Fuji-San.
Love the impeccable service and the amenities we can use.
A walk in the garden is certainly recommended and look for the Fuji-San Vantage Point

WFaiOne thing that’s best - Mount Fuji view when the weather is good. It seemed like just right in front of you.
No matter from the room or the 4th floor restaurant where we had our breakfast or even the open rooftop.
Rooms was clean, top class in-room amenities provided, very good buffet breakfast with scenic view overlooking Mount Fuji and staffs were friendly and helpful. We got free parking in front of the hotel throughout our 2 nights stay.
There were so much you could do while staying at this hotel. Whether you want to enjoy the beautiful Mount Fuji with coffee brew in your room, or get discounted price + early entry to the amusement park right beside the hotel, or enjoy the onsen hot pool next to the hotel.
They even send us to the top of Fujiyama Tower complimentary and there you’ll have a stunning view of Mount Fuji and the amusement park, plus you’re able greet to the riders of the king of coaster when it pass by.
Highly recommended!

Probably one of the most kids friendly hotels I’ve ever been to. The entire basement is full of kids activities and the highlight is the massive wooden playhouse. Third floor has multiple game rooms (train room, music room, wooden ball runs) and a big japanese style tatami communal lounge with boardgames, free flow drinks and snacks at certain timing. There are even rental of potty seats, high chairs etc FOC.
However, we went late March and the surrounding areas are mostly closed. We almost couldn’t find a restaurant to eat past 8pm. Makiba park and Moegi village were closed too. I’d suggest going at the non-peak period for more activities outside of the hotel, make your 4-hr drive from Tokyo worthwhile!
The rooms are old Japanese style, slightly dated but spacious and clean. Hot spring is more like a big bathhouse. Staff are friendly and helpful. Keep it up!

Guest UserI very much enjoyed my stay at the Shimobe Hotel. I originally wanted to stay at a nearby temple in Mount Minobe but realized that it was mainly an experience made for foreigners. I think we were the only foreigners there for our 2-night stay. I personality want to avoid staying with foreigners and want more of the local experience. The service was great, they could check you in and out without too much of a language barrier. We added dinner during check-in without any problem, we realized that the town closed early at night and was concerned that we wouldn't find a great place to eat dinner. The buffet dinner was great and we got a complimentary sashimi plate and yuzu highball on our second day. The breakfast buffet was also very good with a mix of local and western dishes. The station is located right near the hotel so it makes it a perfect spot to make a quick Mount Minobe day trip.

This hotel has amazing views! You open the window and there's Mount Fuji right in front of you! The shuttle service is very convenient. There's a hot spring downstairs, and it even has an outdoor area, which is super relaxing! The hotel is located near the lake, so if you have time, I highly recommend spending a day walking around Lake Kawaguchiko – the scenery is absolutely worth it!

수비니버스Service staff were efficient, although queueing to trade your keys for your shoes slowed things down. (Understandable, because this is also a day-trip onsen, so the hotel needs to ensure all tabs are covered before letting guests go.)
Facilities were old but well-maintained, although my room window couldn't be closed without force. Wide variety of baths to choose from, and convenient hours.
Note that there is no shampoo, conditioner or body soap in guestrooms, as this is an onsen facility - all soaps and bath amenities are provided in the onsen area.
Several onsite restaurants providing many food options, which made up for the lack of vegetarian-friendly options around the area.

Anonymous UserFuji Lake Hotel is situated right on the shores of Lake Kawaguchiko. On one side, you're treated to the magnificent silhouette of Mount Fuji, and on the other, breathtaking lake views. In the early morning, the lake is often shrouded in a light mist, with the mountain's outline subtly emerging. Evenings bring stunning sunsets, casting a golden glow over the water, creating a tranquility that truly takes your breath away. The hotel's courtyard is a picturesque scene with vibrant maple leaves contrasting beautifully with the evergreen pines.
What truly made an impression, however, was every single staff member. From the polite greetings of the doorman, who also ensured our luggage was in our room before we arrived, to the front desk staff who patiently and thoroughly explained the hotel's operating hours (a special thank you to Mr. Oishi for his enthusiastic introduction to the hotel facilities). When we returned to the hotel on a rainy day, we were offered towels, and there was hot tea available in the lobby. The restaurant staff were very professional. During our four-night stay, our room was consistently spotless every time we returned (many thanks to the housekeeping team). Upon check-out, staff saw us off at the door, waving goodbye. Every detail was handled with such care, making us feel genuinely welcome. Fuji Lake Hotel didn't just leave us with memories of Mount Fuji's reflection; it left us with the gentlest encounters of our journey.

Pim_naraThe room is nice. But It used to be more impressive when we stayed at this ryokan 5-6 years ago. Somehow we felt like their service dropped significantly. Everything are more strict for example daily cleaning time is 11.00 -11.30 only and cannot be postpone. Check out time is 11.00 and then we decide to chill a bit at the lobby before leaving ( around 11.20 ) they politely asked us to leave by telling us that they will clean the lobby. Which I think is there right to do so but it really feels uptight - not relax at all - and not as impressive like the other ryokans we stayed.
