Yuexiu Mountain House, one of the four famous gardens in Lingnan
Guangzhou Guangdong Yuexiu Mountain House
Yuexiu Mountain House has always been the first choice for photography groups in ancient costumes, and I have admired the masterpieces of the group members several times. This afternoon, I stepped into this long-cherished famous garden. Yuexiu Mountain House, together with Liangyuan in Foshan, Keyuan in Dongguan, and Qinghui Garden in Shunde, are known as the four famous gardens in Guangdong. They are representative works of Lingnan classical gardens.
The wall that was blown by the typhoon is still covered with canvas, and no trace can be found in the garden. Entering from the archway of Yuexiu Mountain House, passing through Youchang Hall, the black lacquered gate is flanked by colorful door gods, majestic. The first sight is Wenchang Garden, which should be a newly built scenic area, with corridors built around the water feature, supplemented by pavilions, terraces, and towers, very much in the style of Jiangnan. Wenchang Pavilion is octagonal in shape, a three-story building with flying eaves and high-hanging red lanterns. The rooftop enshrines the god of Kui Xing, who stands alone at the head of the Ao, the second floor enshrines Guan Shengdi Jun and Wenchang Dijun, representing loyalty, bravery, and the pursuit of fame and fortune. At this moment, the sun sets in the west, casting mottled shadows through the lattice bricks.
Following the corridor straight into the essence of the mountain house, the so-called winding path leading to a secluded spot is just a direct walk into the backyard. First, enter the gray sculpture art gallery for a basic training, and the walk behind is full of wonders. Looking out from the courtyard is the gate of Jun'an Hall, turning right into Shenliu Hall, the owner's reception hall, with a spacious interior, beautifully decorated, and many woodcut prints. Entering the Wo Piao Cottage, a resting place, with blue and white Manchu windows, light and shadow penetrate into the room, bright and full of illusions.
The most exciting place is the exquisite water pavilion, connected by a corridor with windows on all eight sides, the setting sun shines through the flower windows, and there are many women in ancient costumes, either fanning or playing the zither, swaying in the light and shadow. The surrounding bamboo is lush and the red carps play in the waves.
Following the Huanhong across the green corridor bridge to the low Qihuhu, admiring the exquisite beauty, the seal script couplet says: 'Three bows of surplus land suffice for the red rain, one corner of shade under the sky deepens the green clouds, Lingnan has no sense of autumn, still flowers red, willows green, sky blue, clouds white.'
Behind is Yuyuan, slightly feeling twisted and narrow, but the carvings are exquisite. Climbing to the second floor, you can embrace the view of the mountain house's black tiles and flying eaves standing among the lush phoenix trees like clouds.
At this time of sunset, the silhouette of the flying eaves is cut against the crimson clouds, heavy and solid, gradually entering tranquility.

Yuyin Shanfang is one of the four major gardens in Lingnan.
