I absolutely adored Dunhuang Villa! I loved it so much I had to say it three times! Before my trip, I was a bit worried because some reviews mentioned the facilities were old, but once I stayed there, I found they weren't old at all. It was much better than Beijing Hotel or Mangshi Hotel. Some people said it was small, but compared to hotels in Tokyo, it's really not small at all. Our Castle Twin Room wasn't cramped in the slightest. First off, I loved the room's decor; it had a wonderful Western Regions flair. It fulfilled my princess dreams even more than Disneyland, especially since our generation grew up watching Princess Fragrance in 'My Fair Princess.' The breakfast experience was fantastic; sitting on the castle overlooking Mingsha Mountain was incredibly picturesque, and the spread was very generous. We had lunch in the hotel's courtyard, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The entire villa is quite expansive, almost a landmark itself. You just tell the taxi driver 'Dunhuang Villa,' and they don't even need GPS. The little camel doll the hotel gave us was also adorable. I've recommended it to so many friends since I got back, and if I ever go to Dunhuang again, I'll definitely choose this place!

This hotel deserves a perfect score 💯! It was the most comfortable and satisfying stay I had along the Qinghai-Gansu loop, and the price offers incredible value for money.
1. There were complimentary snacks in the room upon check-in.
2. The staff were very thoughtful and provided a guide to Zhangye, which gave us plenty of ideas for food, fun, and entertainment.
3. The hairdryer being a Laifen brand is a definite plus!
4. Breakfast was incredibly rich and plentiful. Everyone in my group raved about it and said it kept them full until lunch! Turns out the Lanzhou noodles at this hotel are made fresh on the spot.

I've lost count of how many times I've stayed at this hotel. I just stumbled upon these beautiful photos from a previous stay in my album today and couldn't resist sharing them. Every time I walk in, I'm drawn to the authentic, down-to-earth vibe. The front desk staff are always so welcoming, eagerly greeting us and helping with our luggage. The rooms are spotless and incredibly comfortable. But the absolute best part is the snow outside the window. Waking up and drawing the curtains to a pristine white landscape, with snowflakes gently drifting down – it instantly puts me in a fantastic mood. I also have to rave about the hotel's pour-over coffee. The freshly ground beans are so aromatic, and the coffee itself is rich and smooth, not bitter at all. A warm cup in the morning, enjoyed while gazing at the snowy scenery, is pure bliss. The service is also exceptionally thoughtful; any request is met quickly and efficiently. Next time I'm in Jiayuguan, I will definitely choose this hotel again. I genuinely recommend it to everyone!

I booked a basic room, and luckily, there were still rooms available that day, so the butler upgraded me. The tent is really picturesque for photos. The good mood I got upon entering the room compelled me to write a review about the butler!
Before check-in, the butler proactively contacted me, informing me that the room included one fixed-point airport transfer. They also told me about the weather, helped me plan my itinerary and offered travel advice, and even recommended Dunhuang Print Shop for a visit.
During my stay, the butler always responded instantly (except when they were picking up/dropping off guests, which I totally understand if replies were a bit slower). Even when I returned very late at night, a butler was still there. The front desk also left a phone number. I talk a lot and can be long-winded, haha, but they patiently answered all my questions. Huge thanks to the Shazhou Wild Luxury Camp butler team for making a solo female traveler feel so welcome and cared for. I will definitely be back next summer. I highly recommend it to every young lady looking for quality and experience – come and enjoy!
The hotel is very close to the Rainbow Mountains Geopark, and its location is easy to find. The front desk staff were very welcoming; they turned on the heating for us before we arrived because it was cold, and even gave us some local specialty snacks before we left. The room had smart home features, was very clean, and quite spacious. The hotel itself felt new, and its facilities were comprehensive.
I traveled with my father and booked two double rooms, both near the road, which were a bit noisy. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 am, and it was packed with people. There were no seats, so we had to make do with a bowl of noodles and come back later. When we went back, we had to show our meal tickets. Luckily, there were two of us, so we had four meal tickets for the two double rooms, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to have breakfast. The TV was out of service. The hotel was very clean and well-maintained. Overall, I think this is the best hotel in Xiahe. If you want a more comfortable stay, this hotel is quite good. It's not far to walk to Labrang Monastery. Parking is free at the hotel, so you don't need to drive to the scenic area's parking lot. The price-performance ratio is quite good.

I think, apart from the little hiccup with the dining, this hotel is highly recommendable in all other aspects. The booking included a hot pot set meal with beef shabu-shabu for dinner, which was probably worth around 300 RMB. The dining staff, however, definitely need to improve their service; they were too arrogant. I hadn't paid close attention to the menu before, specifically the discrepancy between the listed meat dishes and what was actually served. Since the hot pot seemed to have very few meat options, I ordered an 88 RMB plate of lamb dumplings, which was tiny, only 24 pieces? It was then that I thought to check the dishes, and I realized that the food served was inconsistent with what was listed in the order, and they hadn't even informed us (it was called a 'beef shabu-shabu hot pot,' but there was no beef shabu-shabu or yak meat duck feet that were supposed to be in the set meal). There was also no fruit platter and no juice. When we discovered this and asked the server, she said they just provide whatever is available in the restaurant at the time. She then offered to send us a plate of fruit, to which I replied that a fruit platter was included in the set meal. That's when the server dropped a classic line: ”What's listed on the menu isn't necessarily what we have to provide!” I asked, ”Then what's the point of having the set meal contents written in the agreement?” Finally, I asked her if she could take responsibility for what she was saying, and if she needed to consult her manager. Only after a lot of back and forth, and me fighting for my rights, did they finally appease us with a portion of lamb. Honestly, that 88 RMB dumpling dish was a rip-off, and the hot pot set meal being different was also a rip-off. The way they responded when I tried to claim my rights was also terrible. Luckily, I asked her if she could be held accountable for her words, which helped me salvage my legitimate rights. I think, apart from the dining incident, this hotel is highly recommendable in all other aspects.

Honestly, when you come to Dunhuang, there's no need to rush from one attraction to another every single day! This time, I deliberately chose this guesthouse tucked away in a village, mainly to slow down, relax, and just chill. The overall experience was really therapeutic, but there are a few honest critiques I want to share to help future visitors.
First, let's talk about the major positives! The location truly exceeded my expectations. It's not in the bustling city center; instead, it's hidden in a village, completely avoiding the crowds and traffic of the city. It's peaceful and quiet, not noisy at all, setting the perfect mood for a relaxed vacation. It's also not far from Mingsha Mountain and Mogao Grottoes, and taxis are readily available whenever you step out, making it super convenient to get to attractions without having to wake up early or squeeze onto a crowded bus.
The value for money for accommodation is also great. For around 300 RMB per person, you can stay in a courtyard room with two large beds, offering excellent privacy. It's really pleasant to sit in your private little courtyard and have afternoon tea. I have to praise the memory foam pillows provided; they're just the right balance of soft and firm, ensuring a good night's sleep after a day of traveling – a huge plus point!
The guesthouse itself has an Instagram-worthy cafe. The freshly ground coffee is excellent. There are several spots for afternoon tea, including a sandy area, a pool, and an orchard. Sipping coffee and taking photos with the cool breeze from the desert makes every shot look like a professional, atmospheric photo, instantly bringing a sense of relaxation. In the evening, there's also a stargazing platform. Far from city lights, you can look up and see a sky full of stars, instantly melting away all your travel fatigue. You don't have to worry about food either. While there aren't many restaurants within walking distance, the guesthouse can arrange customized local specialty meals. Having a BBQ or hotpot in the courtyard feels so special. If you don't feel like moving, delivery services for takeout are also very fast, perfectly satisfying any lazy traveler.
Now, for a few honest minor complaints – consider these if you're particular:
Since it's in a village, there aren't many shops along the street nearby, so it's not very convenient to just go out for a casual stroll, snack, or buy groceries. However, anything you need can be ordered for delivery.
The temperature difference between morning and evening is significant, and it can get quite windy in the courtyard. Remember to bring a light jacket if you plan to have outdoor afternoon tea.
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons. This place is perfect for those who don't like rushing from one attraction to another, prefer peace and quiet, and are looking for atmosphere, healing, and a truly relaxing and laid-back vacation.
Perfect location for visiting the Rainbow Mountains, with the western entrance in walking distance. The exceptionally friendly reception also recommended scenic spots in the area, and we were able to borrow traditional clothing for our photo shoot free of charge. The overnight stay in a heated yurt was very comfortable, with shower and toilet facilities within easy reach. The breakfast was excellent and varied; even our demanding children gave it two thumbs up.

My parents went to Jiayuguan for fun, and I booked this for them. I chose Moluo Inn purely because of the reviews, but the feedback from my parents proved that my choice was right. The environment is very clean, the breakfast is exquisite and nutritionally balanced, there are three-fort tea, and herbal bags for foot bath. Because my parents are older, the boss also provided free pick-up and drop-off services, and helped to contact a chartered car for sightseeing the next day, which made people feel the warmth of a strange city. The room is also very clean and quiet. You can see the Qilian Mountains in the distance from the room, which is very suitable for complete relaxation.

KKatKKGWe’re foreign tourists and wanted to experience a local homestay in a quiet area, and we’re glad we made the right choice! We had a wonderful and restful 4-night stay (we extended our stay) at Dunhuang Yun’an Sand Residence Homestay.
When we arrived, we immediately liked the interior design of the property. The owners are very warm and friendly, welcoming us with delicious local fruits.
The room was clean and spacious. My husband and I slept very well as it was very quiet, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The amenities were great, including a washing machine in the laundry room (some rooms also have their own washing machines). There were plenty of snacks available in the common lounge.
We’re usually not breakfast people but decided to try it here. The lady owner prepared a delicious breakfast from scratch using fresh ingredients. The pumpkin pancake and meat bun were delicious! She and her husband were so kind and generous, continually offering us more breakfast.
Although the property is located outside Dunhuang Town Centre, it was very easy to get a Didi to the town centre and to all the famous Dunhuang scenic areas like Mingsha Mountain, Moon Crescent Lake, and Mogao Caves (all within a 15-minute drive). The owner recommended a nice restaurant in the town centre, and we went there twice! The second time, we were so full that we decided to walk back to the hotel. It took us under 40 minutes and was a very pleasant walk after the meal. We also ordered takeaway one evening after returning from the Mogao Caves.
This place made us feel like home. The owners felt like friends! They provided us with all the information we needed and were always eager to help. Not to forget the housekeeping lady, who is very kind and caring!
We highly recommend this homestay!

Upon entering the lobby, you'll be immediately drawn to the colorful graffiti-covered pony chairs! The vibrant reds and refreshing blues, combined with their adorable and artistic designs, make for a perfect photo opportunity. This unconventional and creative interior design demonstrates the hotel's meticulous attention to detail, rivaling even high-end design hotels.
🌸 Elegant and Cozy, Meticulous in Detail
The lobby is adorned with vibrant orchids, paired with tall, stately green plants, creating a sophisticated yet lively atmosphere. The black and gold reception desk is exquisitely elegant, and the thoughtfully provided drinking water and tea sets perfectly blend a sense of luxury with a comfortable and welcoming feel, showcasing impeccable attention to detail.
GGuest UserWhen traveling to Dunhuang, I wanted to book a quiet hotel and chose this hotel. The result was unexpectedly good. Not only was it quiet, but the environment was also very good and very cultural. The preface to the Lanting Collection was carved on the wall of the lobby. I heard it was written by the boss. . The service was also very friendly. Check-in was quick, they answered all our questions and sent us to the room. The room is also very warm, the facilities are new and complete, and there is a humidifier. It is really good to have a humidifier in Northwest China. The bathtub also comes with a disposable bathtub cover, so you can take a bath with confidence. I came back very late from my trip to the Western Front. I asked for two extra pairs of slippers, which were delivered quickly. Good hotel, good service!
ZZhuqinThis trip to Dunhuang was a fantastic experience! We traveled during the off-peak season, and the hotel was incredibly thoughtful, upgrading our room and arranging an extra bed, knowing we had a child. They waited up for us when we checked in late at night, showing such care and making us feel completely at home – it was truly heartwarming. The breakfast was exquisite and delicious, and the airport transfer vehicle was very comfortable, definitely worth praising. Both the service and the facilities were impeccable. My son absolutely loved the children's souvenir and said he wants to come back again. Oh, and to add, the hotel's landscape is very unique, and you can book a travel photoshoot there – the photos turn out amazing!

GGuest UserGreat atmosphere. The tent/bedding was much cleaner than expected despite being in the middle of desert . The heater works well. The owner took his time to take great care of us (noted that we didn’t go during high-season); very service-minded. He took us to/from airports and different tourist spots. Also provided us with many additional activities (not excluded in the initial program of camel riding) such as ATV riding, sand hill sliding, firework. The hotpot/grill dinner was delicious! Overall we were very impressed with everything.

MM309797****The room was small and poorly soundproofed; you could hear your neighbors talking. The toilet seat had fallen off, and there was no hairdryer in the room, making it inconvenient to wash your hair. The only downside was the beautiful courtyard, where you could relax in the evenings. Definitely avoid the restaurant next door!
