Guest UserI was greeted with a fruit platter during check-in, which was a wonderful welcome gesture considering I left my home about 24 hours earlier, traveling non-stop from California to Datong, China. The Inn provides a wonderful experience for the first-time foreign visitor. The interior decor has that Chinese charm consisting of artwork, a book display, an aquarium with an auspicious collection of 8 large fishes (carp, I think), in-room tea set with an on-table electric stove, which would be unique to most Westerners. The glass flooring adds an extraordinary appeal since I have never experienced that in a hotel before, and I have traveled to dozens of countries.
The Inn is well located, a short bus ride to Datong Railway Station (for non-high-speed rail travel)*, and a short taxi ride to Datong South Railway Station (for high-speed rail travel)**. It is just next to Datong City Wall. You can walk along the top of the City Wall at no cost. A 10-20 minute walk takes you to nearly all the attractions within the ancient City Wall. Here you will also find a variety of restaurants serving local food as well as souvenir shops. There is also a small shop that sells sundry items including drinks (beer included) within a 5-minute walk from the Inn. Across from this sundry shop, is a shop that specializes in ancient Chinese clothing (Hanfu dress). They can dress you up, cosmetics included.
The Inn provides directions to Yujian Yun Gang - a popular destination for travelers to Datong. Here you will see ancient Buddhist cave art, including large and tall (several stories tall) sculptures. It takes two bus rides to get there, 1RMB per ride.
My booking choice was for either a guest room on the 1st or 2nd floor but was assigned a wonderful 2nd-floor guest room.
The owners of the Inn were exceptionally friendly. I met both the mother and her daughter. My room was professionally cleaned and provided with drinking bottled water daily.
If I return to Datong in the future, I will certainly book a room at this Inn.
*I took a train from this station to travel south to Xinzhou after checking out.
**I arrived in Datong from Beijing Daxing International Airport

A wonderful inn nestled in a tranquil location amidst the bustle of the city. From the initial pick-up and parking arrangements to the final departure, there was not a single unpleasant experience; they were incredibly attentive, helpful, and meticulous. The inn is elegant, clean, and tidy. The staff are friendly, patient, and responsive. The aroma of freshly baked bread fills the air daily, and the Chinese and Western breakfasts are cooked to order. While the variety isn't extensive, every bite is satisfying, especially the bowl of beef noodles, which is incredibly good! The room's simple and elegant decor perfectly reflects the ancient city's style. No matter how exhausted you are from exploring, returning to the courtyard provides a truly relaxing and tranquil experience. Overall, it was a truly wonderful two-day stay. I'd especially like to thank Ms. Dong Yanxia (I think that's her name) for her patient, meticulous, and attentive service, which has left me and my family with wonderful memories of this holiday!

Anonymous UserThis is by far the best value five-star hotel in Taiyuan. The management is well-organized, and the hygiene is consistently excellent, making you feel right at home. Both the facilities and services are well-maintained. The surrounding area offers a complete range of commercial amenities and convenient transportation, with a subway entrance right next to the hotel. Tianmei and Beimei New World shopping centers are just next door. Overall, it's great value for money. The only minor drawback is that it's an older hotel and could use a full renovation. Given that Shanxi is a strong tourist province, a refurbishment would certainly justify a price increase.

The hotel's location is excellent, very close to the snack street, Bell Tower shopping area, and Liuxiang commercial district, making shopping and dining incredibly convenient. The Jin Merchants Museum (former Governor's Mansion) is also within walking distance of the hotel.
The thoughtful touches like the 'Cozy Teahouse - Afternoon Tea Time' (including a pot of tea) and the coffee were much appreciated.
We also enjoyed the 'Immersive Experience: Journey through a Jin Merchant Mansion with Free Young Mistress Attire'.
Plus, there's a very friendly cat named 'Facai' in the hotel lobby!

This guesthouse is located right inside the ancient city, which is a great spot. It's really close to the city walls and Kuidxng Tower, and you can walk to Huayan Temple in about ten minutes – super convenient. They have underground parking with charging stations too. The decor is very tasteful, and since it gets quite dry in winter, every room has a humidifier. The pear soup at the front desk was especially delicious. The breakfast spread is quite good, all homemade by the hostess, especially the knife-cut noodles – they're just as good as any noodle shop outside, absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be back next year if I get the chance!

The Taiyuan Nanzhonghuan Intercity Hotel is conveniently located directly opposite the International Financial Center, offering easy access to dining and shopping. Parking is convenient, making it ideal for guests traveling by car. The hotel is very new, with well-equipped rooms and a simple yet elegant decor. It's exceptionally clean, and the breakfast is extensive, featuring both Western and Chinese options, as well as local Shanxi specialties. The front desk service was excellent; they thoughtfully upgraded my room. Everything was thoroughly satisfying, and I'll definitely choose the Nanzhonghuan Intercity Hotel again on my next visit to Taiyuan.

Guest UserPingyao Yundingxuan truly exceeded our expectations! This ancient courtyard, a former Shanxi merchant's residence, has an incredible atmosphere, perfect for amazing photos. The location is superb, right on West Street in the heart of the old town, within walking distance of 'Impression Pingyao' and all major attractions – super convenient for sightseeing and dining.
The hotel offers free pickup and drop-off at the city gate, helps with luggage, and provides thoughtful and attentive service. They patiently explained sightseeing routes and even assisted with discounted bookings for 'Impression Pingyao' tickets, saving us time and effort.
The rooms are clean and tidy, with soft and comfortable bedding. The courtyard is quiet and tranquil, making it a very reassuring stay for both elderly guests and children. The amenities are comprehensive, and the breakfast is authentic. It offers incredible value for money. It's definitely the top choice for family trips to Pingyao. Highly recommended; we'll definitely stay here again next time we visit Pingyao.

The hotel has very spacious and comfortable rooms. The breakfast is only Chinese, but rich and plentiful. We can't comment on the location because we always took taxis to the attractions around Datong (the wooden pagoda, hanging monasteries, and the Yungang Grottoes), but right next to the hotel are plenty of restaurants and places to grab a quick bite. The staff seemed helpful, but no one spoke English, so we had to use a translation app, which wasn't always accurate, and communication was somewhat hampered.

The location is absolutely fantastic, right in the heart of the ancient city.
For dining: Xi Jin Dao is downstairs, Fenglin Pavilion is a 10-minute walk, and Long Juxiang offers delivery directly to your phone. Every time we took a taxi back to the inn, we'd get off at Huayan Hotel and walk two minutes. The popular Heshengcai is a 10-minute walk (though the taste was just so-so, and none of the pastries even had an ingredient list).
For sights: Huayan Temple is a 5-minute walk. I visited Shanhua Temple at night, which was about a 15-minute walk. During the May Day holiday, there were only about 10 people in the entire temple at night, so we could enjoy a peaceful visit. On the way back and forth, we also saw the city wall's light show and passed through a lantern festival. Rumeng Datong (Dreams of Datong) was also within walking distance.
Service was great too. On our last day, we had to leave for the train station at 7:30 AM, and the owner even packed breakfast for us. The lamb offal soup with vermicelli every morning was delicious.
The furniture is all elm wood. The loft family room was perfect for our family of three. The only downsides were that the room rate was expensive during May Day, and the bathroom design was a bit impractical.

Guest UserMy friends and I love simple, bright, and fresh decor, which is why we ultimately booked this B&B on Ctrip. The pick-up and drop-off service was perfect for us non-driving independent travelers; the car took us to the entrance of the ancient town, and then the shuttle bus from the ancient town dropped us right at the hotel entrance. This was so much better than dragging our luggage through the ancient town like other tourists. Although the B&B isn't on the main street of the ancient town, it's a short walk from everywhere, which is very convenient, and it offers a quiet retreat from the bustle. The butler's service was incredibly thoughtful; they gave us a map of the ancient town and even explained how to explore and where to eat. Even though it's a renovated old house, the interior feels very modern, and the hygiene is excellent. They provide disposable bath towels, regular towels, toilet seat covers, and even bathtub liners. Overall, it was a comfortable stay with attentive service, definitely recommended.
