Our regular hotel whenever we visit Penang. Hotel is clean and just beside New Lane Night Market (except Wednesday). The only downside is the swimming pool comes with lots of crows and pigeons. Hope the hotel management can set up some netting or so to prevent the birds from coming to the pool. Anyway thanks everyone. ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
My second day at Crowne Plaza Penang Straits City was just as enjoyable as the first. The hotel’s modern design and new, upscale feel make it a great place to relax. The room remains clean, spacious, and comfortable, with all the amenities I need.
The service continues to impress—friendly, efficient, and professional. The location is also convenient, making it easy to explore the area.
Loving the fresh and contemporary vibe of this hotel. Definitely a solid choice for a new and modern stay in Penang!
Overall, I had a wonderful stay at Gurney Bay Hotel. The bed was super comfortable, and the room was spacious and cosy—plenty of room to relax. They provided lots of amenities too, so all I really needed to bring were my clothes!
However, I found that most of the food lacked strong flavours. I’m guessing the hotel might be going for a healthy concept, or perhaps trying to suit international palates. But as a Malaysian who loves bold spices and a good kick of salt, the food didn’t quite hit the mark. For example, the nasi lemak tasted more like plain rice—missing that creamy, rich coconut flavour.
Also, I have to mention—they might need to work on their rice game. It just wasn’t soft enough, which made the dining experience a bit less enjoyable.
Had a wonderful experience yet again at Ascott. We'll appointed rooms, lovely infinity pool and great accessibility make this a good choice. Above and beyond everything else, the service from Mr Yau was immaculate. Felt like a home away from home. Thank you Mr Yau!
Upon check-in, we were warmly welcomed with two delicious chocolate chip cookies, which was a lovely touch. The hotel offered stunning sea views, and there was a convenient walkway providing direct access to the beach. The breakfast buffet was impressive, featuring a wide selection of both local and international cuisines. The swimming pool was spacious, well-maintained, and perfect for children to enjoy. Overall, we had an exceptional stay and would highly recommend this hotel to families and beach lovers alike.
Was an impromptu trip for my boy who us on holiday. Traffic was good, tourist were minimum...the hotel was not busy during our stay. Which was great as we didn't have to struggle with check in etc. Pool was great, a bit deeper would be great. I wasn't fond of the pool with sand, but I guess it creates a beach effect...altho the beach was just like 15 meters away...from check in to housekeeping, all the staff were more than happy to assist. Thank you hard rock!!
The recent stay at Iconic Marjorie Hotel was amazing! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure a seamless and memorable experience. The room was clean and comfortable, with a separate wet and dry area, elegant design, and thoughtful amenities such as plush bathrobes, toiletries, free mini bar, coffee machine, high-speed hair dryer, handheld steamer, and additional pillow options from the pillow menu. The hotel's beds were incredibly comfortable and guaranteed a good night's sleep. Free WiFi was available both in the hotel and in the rooms 🛜. Tiffin Hall, a unique Nyonya themed restaurant, was elegant and comfortable in an environment. The food was delicious. Senses Bar offers stunning views of the city skyline, and you can relax by the infinity pool and enjoy a refreshing drink by the pool bar to the relaxing beats. The staff was amazingly attentive and every request was met, making us feel at home during our stay. The room was also kept spotlessly clean by the housekeeping staff. A big thank you to all the staff for making our stay a memorable one, exceeding our expectations and combining luxury with genuine hospitality. I'm already planning my next stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone considering a trip to Penang, whether you're travelling for business or leisure, highly recommend this hotel!
During this trip to Penang, I stayed at Dongjia, Murren, and Shangri-La. My favorite is Murren Autograph Collection. The hotel is owned by Marriott, with a very stylish design. The sea view room has a charming view, and it is great to soak in the bathtub and enjoy the sea view. The semi-buffet breakfast lobster meat omlette is very delicious, and during breakfast, the waiter also sent various snacks for the guests to taste. There are also two large full-length mirrors in the room, and the dressing table is also very stylish and practical. The staff are very friendly and satisfied! I will only choose to stay in this hotel when I go to Penang in the future.
Good location and it's nice place to stay. The staffs are very friendly, the room very clean, spacious & comfortable with excellent service. The parking is free and it easy to access from parking lot to room. Definitely will come again.
Quite a nice hotel. I arrived sharp at 3pm to check in, however my room was not ready. Mr Firdaus the receptionist was kind and well explained. And giving me a token was a plus point.
Breakfast was good however do come before 8.30am as if you come late, the bright sunlight will disturb your breakfast.

MMyranI stayed for 1 night on Saturday.
1st, I came in, Reception wearing kebaya with sour face. But, she did check-in process overall OK.
My very frustrated point was, we went out for our dinner and came back to hotel at 12midnight. Unfortunately, parking space was full. And, as in-house guest, we need to park our car outside from hotel coverage which across the street (beside Lebanon Restaurant). To me., as in-house guest, we are NOT supposed park our car far from hotel coverage.
In fact, i spoke to parking staff whereby i wanted to do double park & leave my phone number to them, but strictly denied by those staff which again I felt very down. I dare to offer for double park because I will leave the hotel as early at 8.00am next morning.
When we checked-out at 8.30am next morning, all of the cars still not moving. SO, THERE'S NO HARM IF I DID THE DOUBLE PARK !!
Common sense la management !
RR...AThe hotel is very old located in the center of George Twon closer to seaside. I have booked family room. Space and lay out is ok but 2 issues, 1 the inner parents room has a large empty space by the window (seaview the say but hardly seeing tho) we were puzzled why no pair of sofa chairs with a tea table, what is this space for? Super odd...
2 the connecting door for two rooms doesn't close well, not saying the lock doesn't work, no no, the door can't even able to be fully shut.
Services is almost zero. Don't count on it. All in all besides the location and fact has family room options, I don't have anything else to write home about this hotel. Oh and the sound proof is zero too, not saying between our 2 rooms. I basically had bad sleep whole 4 nights stay cos outside in the hall almost never stopped having doors open/shutting and people loudly talking/walking by noises...
Won't book again.
WWenwuPros: The hotel is centrally located in the heart of georgetown. It's my second time in 6 months. It's nice that they always let you check in early. Plenty of carpark so nothing to worry about.
Cons: Toilet is always clogged. They really gotta do something about it. Breakfast needs improvement. Variety is too little.
GGuest UserA short trip with the little one. She enjoyed the splash zone section and the beach experience. We even got a complimentary cake to celebrate our anniversary. Pleasant stay!
SSights and Eats2nd time staying at this hotel. The queen bed room is smaller than double bed room. It’s a little difficult to fill the glass bottles (provided by hotel) with water at the water dispenser, so suggest guests to prepare their own wide-neck bottles to refill drinking water. Location is fantastic! Families with babies/toddler can request for a baby bath tub.
GGuest UserUpon arrival, I discovered that the air conditioning in the room was not functioning properly, as I was unable to adjust it to my desired temperature. I promptly informed the front desk before leaving the hotel for some time.
When I returned, I was informed that the issue had been addressed, and I was told that the temperature variation was limited to 3 degrees. For example, if set at 28°C, the temperature would remain around 25°C.
However, later that night, the air conditioning became excessively cold. I have attached pictures and videos for your reference. Despite attempting to increase the temperature and restarting the system several times, I was unable to achieve a comfortable setting.
This situation caused significant discomfort during my stay. As I have had pleasant experiences at your hotel in the past, I am writing to bring this matter to the attention of your management. I kindly request an acknowledgment and a response regarding this issue.
I lodge this complaint at the hotel, they acknowledge received my email but after 5 days no reply
WWynnie8585The hotel has a great location, but there’s still room for improvement.
The staff are okay, and the service and facilities are average. During Ramadan, the buffet breakfast is replaced with an à la carte menu. The food tastes average—just enough to fill your stomach.
The hotel is quite old, so there are visible black stains and mold in the room. While it’s not exactly dirty, the age of the building makes it hard to maintain cleanliness. The bedsheets also had an unpleasant smell, so I think the laundry staff may need better training.
On the bright side, when I shared my feedback with the front desk, they informed me that the hotel is currently undergoing renovations.
Overall, considering the price, it's still an acceptable stay.
AAnonymous UserMy recent stay at the Angsana was truly exceptional! From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making me feel right at home. The room was impeccably clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. I especially appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as the comfortable bed and the complimentary water bottles. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable experience.

KKatrina Marie VersoI was very surprise that when I get into my room it was updraded to seaview with balcony. This was my 2nd time booking here 1st time I had been here I sign up for membership. Not sure if the upgrade is because of my membership and it was my birthday on that day. Anyhow I am so glad I enjoyed my stay with them. Food were alll good. There are wide selection of breakfast and dinner.
