Good stay at Jazz Hotel Penang 👍
Really satisfied with my trip here. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with a bathtub and even a complimentary bath bomb which made the stay extra relaxing. Love the rooftop pool and the overall modern vibe.
Location is convenient — walking distance to Straits Quay and easy access to Gurney area for food. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay.
Overall a pleasant experience, will definitely come back again!
The deluxe suite was big and comfortable. Only downside was the sofa bed in the living area - not comfortable to sit on as the cushion had thinned out and you could feel the steel bars when sitting on it. We did not use it for sleeping as there were only two of us. I can't imagine that it will be comfortable for sleeping. The guy at the reception told us that they were gradually replacing the worn sofa beds in the suites. So that's good news, but why gradually (?). As the hotel is slightly off the main road, there's not much noise from the traffic, good for light sleepers.
Five stars all around! Big shout-out to the friendly front desk staff. I was torn between JEN Hotel and Wembley, but ultimately chose Wembley because I saw reviews mentioning early check-in, which was a huge draw for me. It's also Chinese-friendly, and the front desk staff can communicate in Chinese. Even though rooms were very tight during Chinese New Year, the hotel still allowed me to check in quite a bit earlier. This gave me a precious three-hour nap, helping me avoid the hottest part of the day and making my first day of sightseeing rich and energetic. Wembley and JEN are just across the street from each other, but Wembley is on higher floors, offering a more expansive view. It's only about 700-800 meters to both Mural Street and the Clan Jetties. There are also plenty of shopping and food courts nearby. The hotel itself is well-maintained, and soundproofing is decent. My only minor complaint: For two adults and one child, we requested an extra comforter, but they brought a blanket instead. Using just a blanket requires quite some courage!
Really liked the hotel environment. The location is super convenient, right below Komtar. We came to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks, and after it was over, we could go straight upstairs to rest, no need to deal with crowds. The staff were also great, and the room was very clean.
Design of the room wardrobe and working table is very welcoming and appreciated. Room size is spacious and comfortable. Amenities and toiletries were sufficiently provided. Room and wardrobe cleanliness is thumbs up.
Thank you, once again to the Bellman, Faizan for his friendliness and warmth hospitality. Good interactions with hotel guest making us feel so welcoming.
But, few setbacks in the room
- there were sands on the bed covered by duvet
- bathroom grouting puts me off
- the basin tap head hit against the toiletries shelf, each time to turn on and off, adjustment is definitely necessary
- hot water mixer is too unfriendly, due to temperature it resulted to hot lever so, you be shocked to touch it
Hotel offers a comfortable and pleasant stay. The rooms are clean and well maintained, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The location is convenient, with easy access to nearby malls Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon. The breakfast menu is somewhat limited, but it is still satisfactory. The room soundproofing could be improved, as conversations from outside can occasionally be heard. Overall, it’s a good choice for travelers looking for an affordable stay.
The semi-transparent door in the room is really not family-friendly, and it doesn't close properly, always leaving a 3cm gap. This severely impacts the sense of security. After complaining to the staff, they just put a lock on with double-sided tape, which, while it allowed the door to lock and reduced the gap, still didn't make it close flush.
On top of that, the water pressure is extremely low, and the overhead shower is unusable. The staff mentioned that many guests have complained about this, but it still hasn't been fixed. Although there are two air conditioners in the room, one frequently turns off by itself, requiring me to switch it back on multiple times throughout the night, which disturbed my sleep. The light above the bed was also broken and kept flickering.
However, the staff were generally friendly, and the hotel itself is spacious and quite clean.
This hotel is absolutely fantastic! The price is reasonable, and its central location makes it super convenient for visiting attractions and enjoying delicious food. You can easily walk to Lebuh Kimberley (Kimberley Street) for famous night market food. For breakfast, the Sia Boey market (also known as Pasar Chowrasta) on Jalan Kuala Kangsar is a must-try – their duck kway teow soup, pastries, and 'gua wa mee' (Hokkien Mee) are all incredibly tasty. In the afternoon, head to Penang Road for the famous cendol and laksa. Right next to the cendol stall, there's a coffee shop serving amazing laksa, char kway teow, and oyster omelets. Seriously, whenever I return to Penang, this hotel will be my top choice!
Check-in was smooth and the staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help with any requests.
The room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained. The bed was comfortable, and the amenities provided (Wi-Fi, toiletries, coffee station, etc.) were more than adequate. Housekeeping did a great job each day.
Overall, this hotel offers great value for money. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and friendly service.
A bit far from Batu Ferringhi and Teluk Bahang, where the kids love to play, but very close to the core area of Penang. Suitable for young adults and seniors.
Breakfast was pretty good, and the kids absolutely loved the pool. It's not far from central Penang, so shopping and dining are convenient. The melodious call to prayer from the mosque outside lulled us to sleep.
Cons: The air conditioning in the lobby was too cold. You could see the distant Penang Bridge, but where was the bay view? :)

MMontYQingdaoThis is one of the loveliest hotels we have stayed at. The staff is exceptional and extremely friendly. The environment is elegant and welcoming. The grounds are impeccably manicured. The dining experience is classy but reasonably priced. The rooms are well cared for, comfortable and clean. The breakfast buffet has a wide array of options and is very delicious. This hotel is very remote and is a fifty minute drive to Georgetown....but the seaview is worth the extra traveling. Thanks to the ENTIRE staff for giving us such lasting memories. 💛💛

GGuest UserPerfect for family trips and couples! The hotel is right next to Batu Ferringhi Beach, with direct access to the public beach. The hotel's pool is also fantastic, and the lush greenery and coconut trees give it a wonderful tropical vibe. We booked a sea-view room and successfully got a room in a central location after requesting to avoid the end-of-corridor rooms at check-in. The breakfast selection is decent. You'll need some basic English as there are generally no Chinese-speaking staff at the front desk.

XXingzoudemaixuanfengThe room was new and the facilities were great. Plus, there was a sea view! It's a bit far from the city center, but overall it was good. Finding places to eat or shop for small items nearby wasn't very convenient, but other than that, no complaints. I'd choose this place again next time.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel location is far from eatery place, but the surrounding is quiet and nice scenery when face to sea view.
The shower pressure is strong and the temperature increse quite fast.
The bed and pillow is comfy.
The selection of breakfast item is varied. However, the yogurt does not have a Halal logo. Wondering how the kitchen make decision on the food preparation for halal compliance.
GGuest UserWe were a bit nervous after reading the reviews online but we had a really excellent stay. The rooms were super clean and modern with a beautiful sea view and the bed was really comfortable. The rooms had a kettle with teas, a hairdryer and iron and the shower was lovely and hot. Great AC too. The pool was lovely with a beautiful view of the sea and very nice and peaceful. The location was also great with a huge food market right opposite. Overall a really lovely stay
JJudith1708A bit disappointed cos the buffet breakfast is very local. I thought it’s shangrila so it should be international. They put western for sausage snd harsh brown other than that all malay food. We booked a 2 rooms for me n my husband and another room is occupied by my children, my children room toilet is leaking so everytime we bath there will be flooding. The aircon is not so cold in both rooms even the technician repair it, it’s still not cold, cos I think its because the hotel is too old and they never maintain it. Cos u can see the dust rust in every corner.
