Anonymous UserLet me start with the location.
-a little bit far from the center, had to drive around 5-10 mins to reach nearest 7e. forget about the other attractions, it needs more than 30 mins from the hotel.
Staff.
-i dont know but i feel like not helpful enough. they could’ve done better for the so called “5 stars” hotel wannabe.
Cleanliness.
-well it was clean BUT! right when we entered the room we saw the notice of the charlie ants. we were so scared to touch the floor with bare foot as i lost count on how much we had seen and managed to kill the insects on our own!
Buffet.
-was ok, not the best. many verities to choose from. well at least they tried.
Facilities.
-they won this time. my only complaint was the insects on the floor and walls of the toilet.

SitimushFirst of all, I love this hotel. As a mother, I think my son enjoyed the kids pool a lot. We spent almost all our time at the pools, including the pool at Level 3. We went swimming till 7:30 as they close at 8pm. The beach is also great, very clean and not crowded. But we didn't spend much time there because of the weather that time is drizzling and windy. Not to mention, all their staff are nice. Everyone is kind and friendly. I felt very welcome here. The scenery from every angle is wonderful. Rooms are clean and spotless. And thank you for the upgraded room, it made our stay even more special. Thank you! I will definitely come again.

Guest UserOur last hotel in Penang was in Batu Ferringhi. The hotel isn't very large, and the room facilities are a bit dated, but the experience was excellent! First, the resort layout is well-designed; despite its size, the areas are cleverly arranged, creating beautiful views at every turn. There are several swimming pools, including two for children with slides and more. Most importantly, there are staff members consistently present at the slides and by the pools to supervise and maintain order, ensuring children can play safely and securely! Breakfast was also great; although there was a queue during peak hours, the food was delicious and offered a wide variety. The beach bar also had good food, and it was lovely to relax there with the lights on at night.
The best part is that the hotel has direct access to the beach and the sea! And the path from the hotel to the sea looks absolutely beautiful when lit up at night.
We booked a two-story family room with a lovely balcony. The staff service was also excellent. I'm giving it five stars.

I was a bit hesitant after seeing the reviews, but I booked this hotel for convenience, and my stay was surprisingly great with no complaints.
First off, check-in was seamless, the room was clean, and the facilities were quite new. Housekeeping was excellent every day; if I requested cleaning before leaving, the room was usually spotless when I returned. One afternoon, I overslept and missed housekeeping, but the next morning, a staff member from housekeeping came to ask if I wanted my room cleaned. 😄
Regarding transport and food, there aren't many dining options directly around the hotel, but getting around Malaysia relies heavily on ride-sharing, so I wasn't worried about transportation or food inconvenience at all. Plus, food delivery is quite convenient; if you don't want to go out or eat at the hotel, delivery usually arrives within half an hour.
The gym and yoga room aren't huge, but they're perfectly adequate, and the equipment is new. I went every day and rarely encountered anyone else there.

Overall, the rooms are quite spacious and comfortable, with balconies offering views of both sunrise and sunset. I booked two rooms; my friend's room had a sunrise view, while mine had a sunset view. My first booking was on a weekend, and the breakfast experience wasn't great due to the large number of guests – many items ran out before they could be refilled. However, for my second stay, I chose a weekday (Monday to Friday), and the experience was much better. I booked for five consecutive days, and the hotel gave me two complimentary breakfast vouchers. The breakfast selection was quite rich, and the staff were patient and could communicate in both Mandarin and English. The rooms also had some smart features, which is quite good for the local area.
I had staff clean my room daily, and overall, I'd give it a 9 out of 10. The cleaning staff were very responsible, but perhaps the cleanliness standards didn't quite meet our personal expectations.

Guest UserUnfortunately, my stay at Shangri-La Rasa Sayang was disappointing, especially considering that I paid around RM3,000 for two nights in the Rasa Wing.
The hotel is clean and the staff are generally friendly, but the entire property feels extremely outdated — from the exterior and lobby to the rooms. The room had a very hard bed, an old non-Smart TV with no YouTube or modern features, and the toilet blind was not working properly, leaving a gap where people outside could still see in. Overall, the room felt like an old hotel room with very little modernisation.
The Rasa Wing benefits were also disappointing. The afternoon tea and evening cocktails were average, with limited variety and quality that did not feel up to a five-star standard. The evening cocktail selection in particular was very limited and boring.
Service was friendly but extremely slow and disorganised. I had requested and reconfirmed a complimentary birthday cake/decorations for my father’s birthday before arrival, but nothing was ready when we entered the room. The cake and decorations only arrived later in the evening while we were already in the room. Even the minibar was empty and only stocked later. The check-in and escort to the room were also confusing and slow.
For comparison, I paid a similar amount for my stay at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, which is also an older hotel. However, the experience there was completely different — the hotel is beautifully maintained, comfortable, updated and truly feels like a five-star property. The service, room, food and overall experience were exceptional.
Being an older hotel is not an excuse for feeling outdated. If Shangri-La Rasa Sayang is not planning to renovate and modernise the property, the price should be reduced. At around RM3,000 for two nights, I honestly did not feel that this stay was worth the money.

Anonymous UserLocation: Straits City, about 1.5 km from Penang Sentral. You can take a Grab or use the hotel shuttle (ask the front desk for details). Both the train and ferry are very convenient. The area around the hotel is still under development, so it's very quiet. There's a 7-Eleven downstairs!
Cleanliness: The air conditioning and vents were dusty and really need cleaning! The power outlets were also very dusty! Still giving it 5 stars though.
Facilities: As a new hotel, the facilities are quite modern! The ceiling light in the room kept flickering! There weren't enough power outlets in the room; as a traveler, I had to take turns charging my devices! The sink design isn't very practical; water splatters all over the counter when you wash your hands!
One thing I really want to mention is the tissues – they ran out after just a few pulls. I guess housekeeping only restocked about 10 sheets.
The pool was nice, but I didn't have time to use it.

I did a lot of research before deciding on Hotel Sentral Seaview by the Beach.
Most reviews weren’t favorable however I was willing to take a risk considering my last hotel was horrible.
Overall, I was surprised and it has exceeded my expectations. Having said that my expectations were pretty low!
Positives:
- Rooms were clean. The hardware of the hotel has undergone some major wear and tear. However, the hotel and room has undergone a fresh coat of paint. There is a faint smell of paint, but that for me wasn’t a negative.
- Initially in my room was facing the hotel next-door. On the same level I could see the security guards and the neighbor hotel walk back-and-forth. As a female guest, this made me feel super uncomfortable. I went downstairs and requested a room change. The response from the front desk was “Just close your curtains.” In the end I was changed to another room on the other side of the hotel facing the ocean.
- The view! Wow. Seeing and hearing the waves from the beach.. all the stress falls away! Because I was given this room, I made the decision to rebook another 2 nights at the hotel!
- Wi-Fi was strong.
- Hardly anyone using the pool, which made it really peaceful and quiet. Water is cool and clean. On the first day I was there the hotel were doing maintenance and cleaning of the pool area.
- The beach is quiet (not many people)
- and quite clean.
- Right in front of the hotel, few footsteps away is a huge food court with lots of variety of food. It’s fantastic. 10 min walk is Lotus Mall.
- There is a bus stop outside. Take 101 to go to Batu Ferringhi Beach.
- 200 m from the hotel is the Oceano Symphony cafe. Good food and drinks.
- Breakfast - was basic but ok.
- Staff are friendly and helpful!
Overall, the positives outweighed the negatives. I can understand that this hotel may not be the standard of a lot of international guests. But for peace, little crowds and sounds of the waves, in a quiet spot on the Penang island it’s been great.

Guest UserWhat a fantastic accommodation. My husband and I loved the place. The room was spacious, and bed was comfortable. No issue with noise.at all and zero issue with a good night sleep. As this hotel is just newly opened, everything is very new.
The service from the team is excellent, helpful and friendly. We love the common areas like the laundry room which also served as a chill out room for a game of pool or some board games. The seating area beside the pool is also a nice place to just relax. I did not try their breakfast so cannot attest to that.
If I have to really pick on something, it's that the shower control of the water feels very sensitive and takes a little getting used to to get the right temperature. Water pressure is also not the strongest. However this did not at all affect our experience of this stay. Would come back to this hotel in a heartbeat. ❤️
