Good stay at Jazz Hotel Penang đ
Really satisfied with my trip here. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with a bathtub and even a complimentary bath bomb which made the stay extra relaxing. Love the rooftop pool and the overall modern vibe.
Location is convenient â walking distance to Straits Quay and easy access to Gurney area for food. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay.
Overall a pleasant experience, will definitely come back again!
The room was massive, I was genuinely shocked when I first walked in! It was incredibly clean and tidy, and the service was excellent. They offer a selection of different pillows for free, and we chose memory foam, which was super comfortable. There was also a water dispenser in the hallway right outside our door, which was very convenient for refilling water. The location is great too, convenient for getting anywhere, and yet it's very quiet â no noise disturbance at all.
Hotel was clean and service was very good. Room was large and comfortable . Swimming pool on eleven floor is a plus on hot days. Good view of the town and the sea from our room.
Strategic location in the heart of Georgetown. Close to Komtar, First Avenue Mall and Pragin Mall. Short walk to Cecil Market and Chowrasta Market with many eateries nearby selling Penang local delicacies.
Really liked the hotel environment. The location is super convenient, right below Komtar. We came to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks, and after it was over, we could go straight upstairs to rest, no need to deal with crowds. The staff were also great, and the room was very clean.
Front desk is very friendly, the check in is fast and smooth. They also offer us 2 welcome drinks at the lobby lounge.
A Rm 100 deposit is required and will be return upon check out.
Room is spacious, but the lighting a little dark, I prefer brighter room.
City area, easy to get a grab, very convenient with a pharmacy nearby and also Starbucks.
A relaxing stay and the location is tops. My go-to hotel each time I come to Penang which is often. Service at reception & the bell boys were very polite and professional. I appreciate the free buggy rides from the hotel to Gurney Plaza. There was beautiful Christmas decorations in the lobby and the buffet breakfast restaurant which lent a festive feel to the Season.
This time around, the only adverse feedback is that I am unsure if any vacuuming was done for my 3 night stay. I only asked for the room to be cleaned once after my 2nd night but a loose piece of long white thread in the middle of the carpet which was there for the past 2 days/nights remained in the same spot after the room cleaning was done.
It was the last hotel at the end of a two week trip in Malaysia. I chose it seeing it was closer to the airport.
It was perfect! A spacious room in a boutique hotel, and some pampering and rest before a long flight home.
Positives:
- Pool, was cool and busy.
- Complimentary drinks, were appreciated.
- Spacious room and bathroom.
- Loved the âSay No to Plasticâ environmental initiatives.
- Cafe space, food was tasty and reasonably priced.
- Staff were friendly and efficient.
- Convenient Store down stairs for snack and drinks.
- I asked for an extra hour for check out.
Itâs in a residential area, next to a busy road. So itâs not a place to explore the local area and a GRAB is needed to get around.
However, a perfect STAY for the last day of holidays and itâs closer to the airport.
I'd say the value for money is decent. The room and views were both good. We didn't book breakfast, and the restaurants across the street seemed like local eateries, with many not open in the mornings, so we just bought instant noodles from the supermarket on our second day. It's quite close to the popular beach, and the swimming pool service was good. The housekeeping staff were also very polite and delivered things promptly. However, the only issue was that on the first day, there were no small towels in the room, and on the second day, there were no large towels, which is quite unacceptable. Also, the hotel beer is very expensive at 32 MYR a bottle, even more so than at the beach bars.
Overall, a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was comfortable and well maintained. The only minor issues were that the door was a bit difficult to push open and there was a small amount of dust in the corner of the room.
The food was good, although the variety could be improved slightly. The gym and pool facilities were both very good and well kept. Aside from these small details, everything else was perfect. I would happily recommend this hotel.
We stayed here for a family trip and overall it was a decent experience. The room was averagely clean and acceptable for a short stay. Basic amenities were provided, and everything was functioning properly.
The overall environment of the hotel was okay, but the property feels a little old and could benefit from some renovation or upgrading. However, it was still comfortable enough for our family to rest after a long day out.
In general, itâs suitable for families who are looking for a simple and practical place to stay, though not luxury.

GGuest UserThis hotel is quite a distance from the city center, even further than the Shangri-La by a few kilometers, located on the beach. There are no convenient facilities nearby, so you'll need to take a taxi to get around. However, a 2km taxi ride will take you to Dadong Seafood Restaurant. All the hotel rooms face west, offering sunset views. The gym is small and lacks equipment. There are two pools, but they are quite shallow. Housekeeping cleans twice a day, but I still noticed some stains on the bed linen. There were also small ants, which is to be expected in a beachfront hotel. During peak breakfast hours, you might have to wait. If you're looking for a quiet escape in Penang, this is the place. At least it's relatively new and offers decent value for money. During the Chinese New Year, they even had fireworks and a weekly 'iron flower' performance. It really made a great impression.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel's location is excellent, right next to the night market, and the sunset views in the evening are fantastic. There are lots of delicious food options nearby. The only downside is that it's a bit far from George Town, about a 20-minute motorbike ride or a 35-minute taxi ride. The hotel itself has a 5-star standard in terms of facilities, and the breakfast offers a wide variety. However, the hotel was incredibly crowded, probably because of Chinese New Year.

GGuest UserOur first night was unfortunately not good. Our room was on the 6th floor, directly under the pool area and pool terrace. We could clearly hear kids running around and chairs being dragged late into the evening.
The sound insulation of the building also seems quite weak. We could hear the couple in the neighboring room talking very clearly, and they were noisy throughout the night, which resulted in a sleepless first night.
The next morning we spoke to the hotel staff, and they arranged another room for us in the main building. This room was much better, and after that we were able to enjoy the rest of our stay.
The air conditioning was quite noisy, so we had to turn it off at night.
On the positive side, the location is very nice. There is a very good food court right next to the hotel, and George Town is about a 25-minute Grab ride away.
Overall, after changing rooms the stay improved significantly, but soundproofing could definitely be better.
SShuiyin407The mattress was incredibly comfortable, and the service was warm and welcoming, truly living up to five-star standards. The breakfast was incredibly rich and delicious, so much so that I felt it was even better than some of the street food in Penang â you could just eat here and skip those street stalls altogether. The shuttle bus to the ferry terminal was also very convenient. My English isn't great, so I didn't try to arrange a pick-up, but the hotel dropped me off at the terminal. From there, it was just a two-ringgit ferry ride across, which was really convenient. From the other side, you can walk to most of the main attractions. However, it's essential to visit in the morning and evening, as it gets extremely hot around midday. This seems to be the way to explore Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, and Penang â enjoy the sights in the morning and evening, then return to the hotel for a nap and a swim during the hottest part of the day. The pool area had a fantastic view, and swimming there was very refreshing. All these positives, combined with the excellent price, make this hotel highly recommendable.
GGuest UserWe were a bit nervous after reading the reviews online but we had a really excellent stay. The rooms were super clean and modern with a beautiful sea view and the bed was really comfortable. The rooms had a kettle with teas, a hairdryer and iron and the shower was lovely and hot. Great AC too. The pool was lovely with a beautiful view of the sea and very nice and peaceful. The location was also great with a huge food market right opposite. Overall a really lovely stay
GGuest UserYou absolutely *must* book a sea-view room! Sea-view! Sea-view! The hotel is right on the beach with expansive views, and it's about a ten-minute walk to the fireworks show and the iron flower performance. It's livelier than the quieter resorts nearby, but in a fun way, and the kids absolutely loved playing in the various pools. If you don't have kids, you might find it a bit noisy and not appreciate the lively atmosphere. Seriously, do NOT book a non-sea-view room, as they face the mosque's loudspeakers. The morning calls to prayer start early, and just walking by, you feel for the guests staying there. Our sea-view twin room was upgraded to a suite by the front desk, which came with its own play facilities, including bunk beds for kids â a truly memorable experience. Although the hotel has been open for a while, the facilities are still well-maintained. While the front desk staff don't speak Chinese, there's usually an assistant in the lobby who can help with Chinese communication, so it's not a big issue. Breakfast was decent, nothing spectacular.
