Guest UserOur stay at Marriott Perhentian exceeded every expectation once again. This was our third visit in less than 12 months, and each time the experience has been even better than the last.
, with crystal-clear water, pristine beaches, multiple swimming pools and incredible views in every direction. The resort itself is beautifully designed, perfectly blending luxury with the natural beauty of the island.
What truly makes this place exceptional is its people. Every single staff member we encountered went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and genuinely cared for. Their kindness, attention to detail, and willingness to help at every opportunity made all the difference. Special thanks to Faizal and zafirah our host.
The rooms were immaculate, spacious, and extremely comfortable. The food was consistently excellent, offering great variety and outstanding quality. With 3 restaurant to chose from, Sekoci for fine dining and day time pizzas and quick bites, Dapur for breakfast and dinner with wide selection of delicious local and international food.
A special thank you to the entire Marriott Perhentian team for creating such memorable experiences. It is rare to find a place where every aspect of hospitality is delivered with such passion, consistency, and genuine care.
Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Marriott Perhentian to anyone looking for an exceptional island getaway. Returning three times in less than a year speaks for itself, and we are already looking forward to our next visit.

Mel1A Resort with Great Potential, but a Very Disappointing Stay
Peridot has one of the nicest, quietest, and most beautiful stretches of sandy beach in Redang. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended for us.
The resort has tremendous potential, but it is let down by poor maintenance, limited food choices, and pricing that simply doesn’t match the overall experience.
Our biggest disappointment was the villa. Despite paying over RM1,000 per night, the spacious villa was fitted with only a single 1.5HP air-conditioner. The room was unbearably hot throughout our stay. We had no choice but to drag our beds directly in front of the air-conditioner just to get some sleep. We made repeated complaints over three nights, but unfortunately nothing could be done.
On our first day alone, we had to request repairs for the leaking bidet, faulty shower head, rain shower, and several other maintenance issues. While the staff responded promptly and were always polite, there is only so much they can do. The underlying problem lies with the overall management and upkeep of the property. Even the reception aircond is leaking 🫣
The swimming pool also deserves immediate attention. It is widely known among visitors staying at other resorts in Redang that Peridot’s pool is often dirty and murky. Ironically, the seawater at the beach looked much cleaner than the pool itself.
The restaurant was another letdown. The menu was very limited, yet prices were among the highest on the island. Even the breakfast selection was disappointing and did not reflect the premium rates charged by the resort.
What surprised us most was that many neighbouring resorts, despite having beaches that are not as beautiful as this one, felt much more vibrant, lively, and better maintained.
After travelling to many countries around the world, it is genuinely disappointing that one of our most memorable negative hotel experiences happened in our own country.
I sincerely hope someone from the company reads this review. This resort has enormous potential but requires significant investment in maintenance, facilities, food quality, and overall guest experience. More importantly, it needs an experienced hotel manager who can revive and properly manage what could easily become one of Redang’s best resorts.
Malaysia is well known for its hospitality. Please don’t let such a beautiful property tarnish that reputation. With the right management and commitment to improvement, this resort could truly become something exceptional.

Guest UserI would like to sincerely thank you for the wonderful hospitality, friendliness, and helpful service throughout my wife’s and my stay at Tanjong Jara Resort. From the smooth check-in until check-out, every moment made our stay truly enjoyable, memorable, and relaxing.
We had a very happy experience at the resort and would highly recommend Tanjong Jara Resort to our family and friends. It is definitely one of the best resort choices in Terengganu.
Special thanks and appreciation to Ai Li, Umah, Haziq, Ruzly, Angel, Amira, Athir, Yusri, Yanna, Khairi, and Aidil for their excellent service, warm hospitality, and dedication in making our stay so pleasant.
Thank you once again, and we hope to visit again in the future 😊

Guest UserSummary: Good place to stay if you prefer quiet and tranquility with a beautiful view of the jetty with the boats. However you may need to spend more on transport such as renting a scooter or request for van transfer if you would like to explore the island and get to the beach.
Good:
1) Price is lower than resorts situated in Long Beach.
2) Room condition is good. Cleanliness is good, air conditioning is cool and water pressure is strong.
3) The resort itself has adequate facility e.g. swimming pool, simple gym, recreation area and the cafe is acceptable.
4) Staff are courteous and polite.
5) There are cats that roam around the resort but they generally mind their own business and don't bother anyone.
6) A trip to marine park is included, so you can take advantage of it for a snorkeling trip.
Bad:
1) Need to rent scooter (RM60 for 24 hour) to travel around. If you want to visit Long Beach you need to take the boat (RM50 per trip), not a big deal for those like us that prefer quiet and peace instead.
2) For some reason on the first day the cleaner asks if we want to do housekeeping. We declined due to want to rest in instead. But on the next day when we request for housekeeping they said they can't do it that day.
3) If you like to snorkel, you will need to travel to Turtle Point by scooter or book a island hopping snorkeling trip. There is a small patch of beach that you can walk to in the resort itself but it is quite close to the jetty so I would not think it is suitable for snorkeling.
My suggestion to the resort is if they could provide bicycle for free or by rental for people to travel around. There are some places that is a bit too far to walk to but a scooter ride is overkill.

Guest UserOverall, it was great value for money. We booked a family suite, which turned out to be a connecting room with a king-size bed and a living area, plus a standard twin room. The room was incredibly spacious – listed at 79 square meters, but it felt even larger – and had fantastic views from the window. Soaking in the jacuzzi tub was pure bliss. The hotel service was also excellent; the shuttle service was always waiting for us ahead of time. Although it's a 2012 hotel, it's very well-maintained, and the room facilities don't show their age.
The only two things we found challenging were the mattress and the dining options. My husband and I are used to firm mattresses, and the hotel's beds were a bit too soft for us to get used to. As for dining, there's only the hotel restaurant, and nothing else to eat nearby.
Overall, we were very satisfied.

rubbyjing530The facilities show that the hotel is quite old, which is evident from the wooden doors and furniture. It's roughly equivalent to a 3-star hotel in China.
Hygiene: It was just okay, as there were still black marks on the sheets that hadn't been washed off.
The restaurant serves Muslim-style food. People from China might not be used to it. You could try eating in the nearby Chinatown instead.
Service: Excellent! In the morning, we were taking too long to get a Grab, so we asked a staff member to call a taxi for us. They immediately found a taxi that arrived in five minutes. Many thanks!

XyrahasnanYou will have a great stay in Redang as long as you stay along the Long Beach as it is itself the shark point. We snorkel to view the baby sharks at our time which was an amazing experience we had with the kids (provided u bring ur own snorkel masks. The water was shallow enough here for u to just float without a life jacket). Redang Divers was amazing as it is not just beachfront but the room itself was facing the beach- we literally walked barefoot from our room to the beach. Equipped with taps at the room entrance to ease washing off sands. This is particularly great but i would rate cleanliness as just bare minimum, no shower gels provided but have great warm showers.

The room is large, with a courtyard, and a little bit of a Maldivian feel, but no hair dryer was found. The food is good, the taste is OK, the ingredients are fresh, and it is slightly more expensive than other nearby restaurants. The service is still quite enthusiastic, especially the on-demand food service staff for breakfast, who are very enthusiastic and proactively ask if there are any dishes that need to be ordered. Proactive service is precious and feels very good. However, the front desk service is perfunctory, seemingly enthusiastic but not solving the problem. After waiting for a long time, no one took the initiative to tell us that we can check in. We went to the front desk to ask, and a few chatty waitresses smiled and said that it was ok now. When we left, we missed the boat because the front desk arranged to wait for the water taxi. Obviously, we were very anxious and asked many times, but the front desk told us that there was no problem. The boat is often late. I asked them to call the shipping company to inform us that we have not boarded the boat yet, and I guess there was no communication. I was speechless. The service to customers should not be just superficial enthusiasm. I hope to really solve problems for guests instead of creating problems.

Very good hotel in a good location (private beach). Nice pool with a great view. Breakfasts were average, but lunch and dinner were very good (tasty dishes). The staff were friendly and very helpful.
Getting to the hotel was a bit difficult – like many places on the island, it's only accessible by boat. It's steep, but the view from the terraces is fantastic.
I recommend it.
