The place was super clean and well kept. Any girlies wondering about good water pressure, THIS IS THE PLACE. Water pressure in the shower was 1000/10! The only feedback I think can be slightly improved on is the parking spot could be closer to the elevators but it wasn't like toooo far away. It was like a 1 minute walk to the elevators. Also I thjnk the parking label came off(?) so we weren't sure if we got the correct spot. However, the owner was quick to reply the WhatsApp we sent to reconfirm. Owner was also friendly and had good response on WhatsApp. Unsure why we had the parking access card when the beam just opened automatically anyways hehe we only used the entrance card and the blue chip thingy for the door. All was good though! Enjoyed our stay! Oh, definitely should bring your own plug extensions as houses/apartments in Malaysia usually don't have a lot of plug outlets, but owner did provide one plug adapter =] Also, don't put your shoes outside because if it rains, it'll get wet (due to wind blowing the water in). Other than that, loved the vibes, loved the place, definitely will look for this place again the next time we come to Penang! Thanks Mr. Lau for the pleasant stay! ♥️ Oh yeah, price was also very suitable with the place (please don't raise it hehe)
It was a great stay. Just that the google map does not provide us with accurate direction to the hotel. Entering from the highway, it says the hotel would be on our right when its actually on our left.
Check in was smooth and easy. Finding our room is also easy. The room was spacious and clean. I was just a little disappointed when I asked for a prayer mat and they said they used up all of them already. Every of the amenities provided are good, but why don't you provide a prayer mat as well in the room?
Breakfast was also good, though they arent so much varieties, but the kitchen staffs might be understaffed or something? I noticed theres only one waitress cleaning the tables, the girl who manned the counter also helps in the kitchen, food that are finished took time to be topped up.
We stayed in a king-size bedroom with a sea view. The room was clean and comfortable, but the design wasn’t quite what we expected—the sea view window was smaller than we had hoped, as we imagined a larger, more open view.
The price was a bit on the higher side, especially when compared to other places nearby that offer two-bedroom studios for similar rates. I believe the hotel is still quite new, which may explain the pricing.
Despite that, we enjoyed our stay! Since our room wasn’t ready at check-in, the hotel kindly offered us a late check-out as compensation, which we really appreciated. Overall, a great experience with thoughtful service.
Picked this hotel cause it is located along the New Lane Street Foodstalls.
Zim Sum restaurant, Dking Penang, No. 5 CKT & the famous Sister Yao's Char Koay Kak just within walking distance.
Check-in after 3pm. You may drop your luggage bag at the concierge. Check-in at the kiosk requires assistance from the hotel staff as different booking numbers were assigned. You need to insert your nric, get your face captured & make RM6 pymt (TnGo/CC) before the room card issue.
I appreciate the hotel staff, Mr Hasan, for assisting me to get my room card as my room is not yet ready at 2.55pm.
There's a travel kiosk located inside the hotel if you need a day trip or car to the airport.
There's 3 lifts in the hotel that require room card to access. The room & the restroom are spacious & clean. I was given a connecting room. Luckily, no one stayed next door. The shower room water pressure is strong. It's a traditional toilet bowl with a bidet hose on the wall.
The bed is a bit uncomfortable as i can almost feel the mattress spring. 2 medium-firm pillows for each bed. The blanket is a bit short as it reaches my chest only (165cm height).
Basic amenities at the coffee table & toiletries are provided. Additional will be the iron & ironing board inside the cabinet.
TV has local, overseas & youtube channels. The remote control is hard to use. The volume is set very low. Need subtitles or lip reading if you rest at the bed.
Overall, it's a comfortable 2 night stay as i visited on normal days. No crowds and everything is smooth. Check-in & checkout during peak or festival season might take longer due to the hotel procedures.

We had two nights at this property. Hotel has free parking. Hotel is nice and staffs are very friendly. Room 1514 seaview was spacious and clean and located 30minutes walk to Gurvey hawker centre. The nearest supermarket is in Gurney Paragon and Gurvey Plaza about 20mins walk. There is Gurney Walk next to this hotel but no supermarket to buy fruits.
It was alright for us as we drove around and the view was my main attraction.
Large room. Excellent service and housekeeping was top rated and quick. I went to breakfast and returned to a refreshed room! I stayed a week and would stay again!
Had a nice one night stay at Golden Sands. Received warm welcome and service by friendly staff. Room was huge and well equipped but does feel it has seem better days. Prob due for room update. On-site amenities were very impressive, easy access to the beach although not swimmable. Activities for patrons were aplenty. Kudos to the staff for hosting these activities and keeping the atmosphere lively for the patrons. Overall was a good stay and will visit again.
everything just nice, just I don’t know how to handle the TV although there got tv box available. There got sofa bed can fit 2 ppl, 1 room with double bed, 1 room with single bed (is really small room), 1 bathroom (no need worry about the water pressure), kitchen with water filter, kettle, microwave, fridge, cutleries. House just next to lift, the sound proof at living area not really good, can hear outside ppl walking, room window sound proof ok. The parking locate at 6th floor and quite hard to go up & down, we decide park road side after that.
Quite unhappy with the condition of the room. After checked in, we were so excited and straight away going to the room to get some rest. Unfortunately, the bedsheet is damp and it has a bad smell. The aircond is dripping so the floor is wet. We called the housekeeping service to do the cleaning and changing the whole bed sheet and linen, spray the room hoping that the bad smell goes away. It remains for few hours and the same condition happened. The pillow case smells like men sweating on it. We really hope the Operation team can improve the service.

GGuest UserFirst time staying at the Grand Ol Dame of Penang, celebrating its 140th anniversary. Stayed for 2 nights and the experience was great. Room was spacious and comfortable, facing the sea and you wake up to the sounds of crashing waves. Service was excellent. Breakfast was great, with cook-to-order char koay teow and roti canai, in addition to the standard eggs station. Hotel location was strategic, with plenty of food options a simple Grab ride away. The only thing lacking was the TV, coffee machine and fridge in the room, all of which could use an upgrade.
GGuest UserThe good:
No deposit upon checking in, check in and out was a breeze, parking provided, the room carpet is clean and centralised aircond cools the room very quickly, the bed and bedding is comfy, cleanliness is tiptop, there's a pool and gym that's nice, and the TV channels were decent
The bad:
Did not validate my car plate and upon driving out, i was charged rm60+ for overnight parking. this was sorted out very quickly but was a hassle, the entrance to room from the parking lot is weird and not disabled friendly.
Overall, i had a good rest at st giles wembley at a decent price. Joined the membership and got a nice cup of coffee at the lobby. I got a room near the lift, so there were noises outside thus the soundproofing is not very good. But felt safe and the clean room feels good. A solid 4 out of 5, could have been better if it came with breakfast minus the hiccup at parking fees.

JJeslyn Tan EJThe reception is really grand and nice. They also offered a cup of welcome drink once u arrive. However there's a weird smell in the bathroom basin. Not sure what is that smell but it was there all the time. Probably cos of the age of the hotel. Bed was clean and super big! Got the deluxe king room with sea view but we got the room slightly block. So not v sure if it's worth, maybe its also because we checked in pretty late... Will recommend people with kids because the pool looks fun and also near the beach. Location is pretty good as its about the heart of batu ferringhi.
AAnonymous Userdecent sized room with gorgeous view, can see the mountain as well as the sea. Buildings nearby are very low, so you can see miles away. Professional staff especially at reception. They are carrying genuine smile and ready to assist. I would say they are more proactive than those five~star hotels i stayed in Penang and Langkwawi during this trip.
However i really wish staff at concierge (night shift) can be more cautious and careful when handling shipment including parcels delivered to the hotel. They could have checked the identity of the one who pick up the parcel instead of not validating and allow anyone to go over to the counter to pick up by themselves. in the end who will bear the responsibility if the parcel was lost?
BBittersweetjuneThe location is convenient for those needing to catch an early flight, as it is close to the airport. The room is spacious, but the building is old and has only undergone partial renovations; the flooring is still quite dated. While the bedding is clean, the bath towels have an unpleasant smell. Additionally, the operator is not very responsive to phone calls, so I had to go to the front desk to request a hairdryer. There were also no toothbrushes or toothpaste provided.
