Muthu Belstead Brook Hotel

The hotel is just on the outskirts of Ipswich. The staff are very welcoming, and extremely helpful. The rooms are of a good size and very clean. The housekeeping staff cleaned our room every morning after we had gone out, which was excellent. The restaurant food is of a very high standard and there is a good choice including vegetarian options. In the bar area where it is of a relaxed nature, you can order food from the bar menu or the restaurant menu. Either way, nothing is ever too much trouble. The swimming pool, sauna and steam room are a must. My husband used the gym which was of an average size and then would come down to the pool area for a jacuzzi. Although they have the spa treatment available, I can't really comment as I didn't use the facility. If you want a relaxing time or want to visit the seaside, Felixstowe is only a 30minute drive away. There are also many National Trust houses to visit. This the second time we have been to the Belstead Hotel and I can honestly say we will be visiting it again.

A very foggy cold night after a busy day it was nice to be welcomed by a friendly and informative receptionist. One nights stay room with small balcony overlooking the golf course and an incredible heater. Water pressure in shower is low but water hot The rooms feel they would benefit from being updated a few ******* . *TV remote didn't turn TV off had to get up and pop hand behind set and turn off at socket. **The hair on the bath definitely not mine! **No obvious hairdryer. ***Room Service called twice extn not answered went via reception transferred to the bar salmon cream cheese on brown ordered arrived quickly unfortunately on white bread. Pink G&T delicious. Breakfast. Warm welcome and explanation offered from team. Great variety and the hot food was hot. **** The team brief at the bar perhaps could have been carried out elsewhere. Checkout painless.

Booked one night to enable us to go on a 'stable tour' the next mornig - absolutely everything was first class... friendly and helpful staff, lovely room with all that you could possibly want in it and one of the best breakfast choices that we've seen in a long time. Will definitely use again...
The Butchers Arms Freehouse

I am giving 4 stars because this accommodation has great potential. We were given a very warm welcome even though we had arrived in the middle of a very busy Sunday lunch service. The owners have not been in place long and have obviously worked very hard to get everything in place for visitors. The accommodation was a self contained unit in the grounds of the pub. It was very clean but small. The mismatched bedding was fine by us but may annoy others. The ensuite with walk in shower was modern and very clean but a bit cramped. Breakfast is ordered the previous evening which I think is reasonable for a small establishment. The breakfast on time and my poached eggs were perfect and my husband's full English was well-cooked with very generous portions. There was ample parking.
The Mill Hotel

We stopped at The Mill for lunch. A great success. They were busy with a big function but Katy looked after us very well and the food was splendid. It is a great setting by the river. Thoroughly recommended if you are passing through Sudbury - Simon and Kathy.
Wherry Hotel

When we arrived we were greeted By Sue who was a lovely lady she got us booked in and told where to go to get to our room, it was only one flight up but as Me and my partner couldn't climb the stairs we went up by lift, there was only a couple of steps to get up to our room, it was basic but it was lovely, we tried to shut the window but it was stuck but apart from that is was a lovely room, we went to our friends wedding reception which was lovely the room was massive and the table were laid out really well, we had some of the evening buffet which was really lovely too ::) we got up for breakfast again lovely but I think they need to replace their toasters as they didn't cook very well and my partner's first lot of toast got stuck and burned but all in all we loved the stay :)
The Orwell Hotel
3.6/5102 Reviews
Alarm bells started to ring when we arrived twenty minutes before the official check in time and were asked to wait in the lounge with no attempt to check if our room was ready or not. On retiring to bed on our first night when we pulled the duvet back we were greeted by faded brown stains on the bedding which was stomach turning, .Because it was late at night I had to report this to the night porter who was also shocked at what he was looking at , he immediately removed the bedding and returned some time later with more sheets . We offered to make the bed on doing so found the replacement bedding to be as badly stained as the previous bedding. Once again we had to report to the night porter who again expressed dismay at the situation ,he returned sometime later plonked the new bedding on the bed explaining there was no bedding other than what he had in the hotel, luckily this was clean. The issue was reported to reception where we were informed by the general manager an investigation would be taking place , and we would be contacted on conclusion in a few days time as to the result . Three months later after numerous emails and the obvious blocking of our phone numbers we are still waiting to hear from the Orwell hotel. We stayed at the Orwell for four nights bed and breakfast, on three of the days we went for breakfast we found ourselves with half loaded plates waiting in a queue for staple breakfast items to be replenished ,staff handling bread and clean plates without gloves as well as removing used plates and cutlery. The only advice I can offer any one who has the misfortune to be staying at this hotel is to bring your own bedding and do not eat the food.
Waveney House Hotel

A good friend and I visited this hotel for the first time for a two-night stay and we were very impressed. It had been recommended to us by friends of ours. I stayed in Room 12, at the top of the hotel, with the most perfect view of the river. The room was very well appointed and comfortable with a lot of character. We enjoyed all of the food very much and the staff were delightful. We were also fortunate enough to enjoy the most perfect weather! A perfect location and well situated for other things in the area to explore. We would certainly visit again!
Holiday Inn Ipswich

Stay here on a regular basis with work and the location is great, 5 minutes from the A14 and 10 minutes from the town centre. Huge free carpark, but you need to log your registration at check in, speedy service at the reception with a great room which you would expect from Holiday Inn. The swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi are all now available. Restaurant is a reasonable size with a decent menu and they also have BT which shows football when it’s on,breakfast is self service with a great choice.
