This hotel gives the guest a warm and personal touch. The best part of the hotel is that the owners are so friendly, treating the guests like family. On the first night I asked for a hot water bottle (热水袋) because I prefer to sleep with that rather than use the AC heating, and the ”mom” of the hotel went out of her way to find me one. On the last day when I was leaving early in the morning before the official breakfast time, she also made sure to give me a prepared breakfast so that I wouldn't be hungry on my day's journey. By the way, the normal breakfast of noodles/mixian is very tasty and nourishing with high quality ingredients. Anyways, the family that runs this hotel really want to make sure you have a comfortable stay, so they are always there to greet you and answer any questions and help you with whatever you need. Even when I asked for clues about where to find batik (蜡染) artists, they found me the phone number of batik artist in a nearby village. They are so eager to help guests squeeze the most out of all of Guizhou's wonders! In my case, as a foreigner and someone who doesn't speak Chinese too well, I found them very patient and helpful. The rooms of the hotel are really elegant... simple, aesthetically pleasing design. The amenities are all comfortable: the bed mattress was a perfect balance of firm and soft, the shower had high pressure and hot water, etc. The wifi was strong and stable. I should point out that some of the hotel rooms only have a squat toilet, so if you need a seated toilet you should probably contact the hotel in advance to make sure that they have such a room for you before booking. I should also point out the special location of this hotel. If you, like me, do not have a car and rely on didi or public transportation, then you should know that this hotel is quite a way into the countryside. In fact, on the road to the hotel, the taxi driver asked me, ”Why would you stay in such a remote hotel when there are good hotels in downtown Anshun?” Well, one of the reasons is because I do prefer personal hotels rather than corporate hotels. But also because my primary goal for my stay in Anshun was to see the old garrison villages (屯堡) in the area, not to see other sites like the famous waterfalls. If your goal is to see the old villages, then I think this is the perfect hotel for you. For one reason, one of the original garrison villages is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel. It's little-visited by tourists and so you'll have the whole place to yourself and get really great photographs. That village (called BenZhai [本寨]) is of great historical importance and is very photogenic, and it's so neat to live so close to it. There's another even bigger and more commercialized (and absolutely beautiful) garrison village, also within walking distance (15-20 minutes by walking), called YunShanTun (云山屯). You're also not too far from the most famous villages, namely JiuZhou and Tianlong. Those are at least an hour by walking, so you'll want to get a car. I found it to be nearly impossible to get a Didi driver to accept such rides in this countryside area, but the good news is that the hotel manager found a friendly guy from the village to drive me to those villages and also later to the airport, for the same prices that Didi predicted it would charge. If you do have your own car, then I don't think you have to worry about anything, as this villages in near the highway and thus you can readily access any of the sites of interest in Anshun from this hotel. Overall, if you are looking for a hotel with warm and human experiences that is near to the places of great historical interest, this is the right hotel for you!
Fanbo Yashe Hotel (Tongren high-speed railway station)

Booked 3 nights in the ”Elegant Residence City-View Double Bed Room” at the Fanbo Yashe Hotel. Overall, it was a good experience and a comfortable stay. The front desk was quite helpful, especially the wonderful receptionist Xiaoya, who assisted me with numerous things with enthusiasm, such as answering any questions, showcasing the various free amenities in the lobby, giving a quick demonstration of how to use the shared laundry area, and offered additional water or other services as needed. The bed and other furniture were comfortable and clean. The shower and bathroom area were fairly good as well. The atmosphere and decor of the room were probably the best thing. Most hotels have a stereotypical and replicated hotel room, but this hotel's rooms give you something more enjoyable since it is a different style from the norm. Special note on cleanliness: I did want to give this a 4.5, but kept it rounded-up to a 5 since it was minor enough. The room did have some leftover sunflower seed shells in a few corners or where a piece of furniture meets the floor, and a little bit of dirt stuck where the floor layers overlap in the middle of the room. However, it was not that big of a deal. This is maybe a reminder for the hotel to take a second look where dirt or trash may get stuck when simply sweeping or mopping quickly. Special note on the bathroom mirror lighting: The lighting by the bathroom sink and mirror could use some more direct lighting, since the position of the current lighting is not too strong and caused shadows on the face. This is not a big issue, but it could prove inconvenient to others, such as women putting on make up or trying to carefully trim a beard. The top-down lighting can cause shadows and unclear views under the eyes, nose, lips, and neck. Tips for guests: Name of the Hotel: While this website says Fanbo Yashe, you may actually see it named Van Gogh's Garden in person. Don't be confused; it is the same place. ”Fanbo” is related to the Chinese name for Van Gogh, ”Fan Gao”. Laundry: Yes, is it available, but there is only one washer and dryer available (hopefully these are increased to two or three!). Laundry detergent is provided. It can be a little troublesome trying to manage around other guests, so it is likely best to do it during the day when people are busy. There is also some nearby clotheslines one can use or just hang in your room if there is not too much. Foreigner Friendliness: Very good. They'll use Wechat to translate and communicate with you if necessary or find some other methods. In short, foreigners should have an easy time here. If other receptionists are friendly like Xiaoya, then there is nothing to worry about. Attraction Services: The hotel seems to offer some ticket and transportation services for nearby attractions (or at least advertises third-party services), but I did not use them and cannot attest to them. Location: It is right next to the bus station in Tongren (and a few streets away from the train station). Once the bus drops you off in the lot, you will need to exit the lot and head slightly east towards the nearby main street, then make your way south. You should encounter the hotel next to where the bus tickets are sold.

I really liked this hotel! First of all, I was so grateful that, even though I arrived a little before noon, the hotel managers allowed me to check in early with no extra charge. And I found them helpful and efficient and friendly (always greeting me when I returned each day). The room itself was a pleasant change from what I'm used to. First of all, my room had no window. But I didn't even get bothered by that because the room itself has such a warm feeling. The floor is a dark wood that makes the whole room feel a sense of integrity. The decorations in the room also give a sense of old world elegance. For example, they put a 1940s style phone in the room (which is very clearly modern since it uses digital buttons instead of the rotary system) just to keep up with the entire theme of the hotel as a place stuck beautifully in time. The shower in the room was excellent; it even had a bench built into the wall that I suppose you could sit on. The shower had good pressure and a full supply of hot water. The room was a bit hot for me, but I suppose I could have called the front desk and they would have helped me adjust the settings; it wasn't too hot that I was uncomfortable. Actually, at that time of the year when Guizhou is so cold and damp, other hotels I had stayed at previously in Guizhou had the problem of being irreparably cold, so perhaps I should be grateful for this point. I like the fact that the hotel has breakfast. I intended to try the breakfast but I got food poisoning from some street food the night before and didn't feel like eating anything the entire next day, so unfortunately I didn't get to try it... but it really looked good! They also seem to have a late evening dinner option, but I didn't try that either (I should have!). The location is also excellent. I took a cab from this hotel to the history museum, Qianling Mountain Park, and the airport, and all were quick and cheap rides. Obviously a visit to Qingyan Ancient Town is going to be an expensive ride wherever you are coming from unless you're staying in Qingyan itself. Anyways, this hotel is also within walking distance to a lot of great restaurants. Just go out the door and turn left and within a few blocks you'll be in a food area with professional restaurants and street food. I, regrettably, was determined to visit Guiyang's famous ErQi Food street, so I kept walking. From the hotel to ErQi food street, it took me about 45 minutes to walk. Not bad! As it turns out, something I ate there didn't agree with my digestive system, so I should have just eaten at the many great restaurants near the hotel. But the point I'm making is that the ErQi Food street ”on the other side of town” was only about 40 minutes by walking. I could also walk to Yan'an Lu and other such streets or to Jiaxiu Tower (I walked right by it... only about 20 minutes from the hotel by walking). That shows what a fantastic location this hotel offers!

Booked Mushan No. 2. The balcony window was broken and could not be locked. Apart from the problem with the window lock, the facilities at Mushan No. 2 were also good. Mushan No. 2 was fully booked that day. The front desk changed it to Mushan Hotel, which has a much larger room. The breakfast was good, with many choices and good taste. The service staff was very nice. I didn't have time to take pictures of Mushan No. 2, the pictures are of Mushan Hotel.

Guiyang North Railway Station
It is very close to Guiyang North Station and very convenient to take the high-speed rail. The hotel is very clean, the service is very considerate, and there are supper every night. It is also very convenient to eat downstairs, which is within walking distance. We booked 4 nights and breakfast was provided. There is also a high-speed rail pick-up service, but the later booking depends on the time of the first booking. It is recommended to book in advance, otherwise the time is very passive. If you live near the road, it is a bit noisy. But overall, the overall experience is good, the price is also very friendly, and it is worth recommending.

Instead of arriving at 22:11, I arrived at Guiyang North Railway station at almost 23:00, the manager promptly replied to my messages to see to it that I correctly followed the directions to the hotel since I don't speak Chinese and it was already late at night. He assured me that the staff was expecting me and the room had been prepared and reserved for me. They upgraded me to a bigger room + complimentary breakfast! ❤️ - The staff and the manager helped me book a taxi to the airport. It was raining when I left for the airport and they provided a service umbrella and instructed the driver to drop me at T2 on my behalf since I am a foreigner and I don't speak Chinese! Facilities: The facilities and equipment are relatively complete, and the hotel is quite considerate. In addition to the necessary toiletries such as toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel, sewing kits, care kits, hair ropes, etc. are also prepared, providing guests with relatively comprehensive services. The room I originally booked was a Shanwu room with a high cost performance. After arriving at the store, I was upgraded to another room type. The upgraded room has a bathtub, bath salts and bath bags. The facilities and equipment are relatively comprehensive, and I like it very much. Hygiene: The room hygiene is also very clean, the dead corners of the room are also cleaned very neatly, and the bathtub and bathroom are also spotless. Environment: The environment is relatively comfortable. The hotel is located halfway up the mountain, opposite the famous Ba Linghe Bridge, surrounded by mountains, and there is a Dishuitan Waterfall diagonally opposite. The waterfall is very spectacular during the flood season. Staying in such a beautiful holy place is unforgettable. There is also an activity of boiling tea around the stove in the evening. Everyone can sit and eat fruit, as well as roasted sweet potatoes, roasted potatoes and small tofu. Especially roasted sweet potatoes, they feel sweet but not greasy. I really like it. Service: The butler service is very good. The day before check-in, a housekeeper called and added WeChat, and sent me the relevant check-in guide. After arriving at the parking lot, I contacted the hotel, and a housekeeper came up on a tricycle to take our luggage. It was about a 2-minute walk from the parking lot to the hotel. When checking in, the housekeeper poured us tea and put a small card holder on the ID card, which was very considerate. We don't have to carry the luggage, there will be a housekeeper to take the luggage. After checking in, the housekeeper will take us to the room and introduce me to the relevant matters of check-in. Check-in is also very timely. Occasionally passing by the front desk, the housekeeper will greet the guests very enthusiastically. When checking out, they also gave us a souvenir of Bobo candy. I really like their store and will come again next time.

What a wonderful experience! Definitely the best hotel service and personalised. Upon arrival we were offered a hotel tour due to its unique design and also our room was upgraded😀 Yiliya, was most generous with her time and also offered us some cocktail vouchers and access to view the current photography exhibit on the top floor of the hotel. The room included mini bar and delightful evening dessert. Morning breakfast was also very appropriate. On departure we were also provided some snacks for the trip back and a souvenir Maison Alvar sheep toy. Thanks to everyone at the hotel for their hospitality definitely the best in china. Some special mention to Ada for helping us take some great photos too. Would love to visit again when in Guiyang.

We had an incredible stay here. The views from the rooms are incredible and look out to the karst mountains and rice fields below. The rooms were clean, the showers strong and the sheets and bed were comfortable. The check in was simple and easy. Breakfast was a big bowl of fresh noodles. The food was delicious, fresh and very flavourful! The staff were so kind, friendly, helpful and always greeted us with a smile. The owner went out of his way to help us have the best time during our stay so we could see as much as possible in the park! It’s located right inside the Libo Maolan National Nature Reserve. Navigating your way there is easy and there is plenty of free parking out front. At night the only sound are the frogs and crickets and it’s so quiet. We saw an incredible darkened sky lit up with stars, the most I’ve seen anywhere in China, you could even see the milky way! We went on a glorious 7 hour hike and the father was our guide. He was by far the best nature park guide I’ve ever had in my life! He knew so much about the history of the park and all the names and traditional uses of the plants. Was very friendly too! Five hole bridge is only a 10 minute walk from here where you can go for a refreshing and much needed dip after a wonderful day exploring. The owner also drive us to the starting point of Qinglong Waterfalls and it’s wonderful- you can easily walk this riverside straight back to the hotel! Would really recommend this place for families, couples or friends travelling as it’s just wonderful! Can’t wait to come back and stay again!
