Getting it at the airport is quick and easy. My account immediately comes with $100. But the card itself raises questions... because you can't use it everywhere—you still have to carry cash. It was also a surprise that the card can go into overdraft. And the minimum top-up is $50, which is very inconvenient. Also, the terminals don't accept bills smaller than $50. Forget about using change at ATMs with this card.

Two days before check-in, I received a call from the hotel. The gentle voice on the other end asked if I had any special requests. I casually mentioned that it was my child's birthday that day, and it would be great if we could get a room with a nice view so he could enjoy the nightscape. I never expected such a small wish to be taken so seriously. The moment I pushed open the room door, I gasped in amazement – outside the floor-to-ceiling window stretched a dazzling city skyline, the night scene more picturesque than I could have imagined. Even more heartwarming was the birthday decoration on the bed. At that moment, I was truly touched by this unexpected gesture of kindness. We actually arrived at 10:30 AM that day, initially just planning to store our luggage. To my surprise, the front desk staff, with a friendly smile (I regret not remembering her name!), immediately said, ”Your room is ready, you can check in now.” When I asked for recommendations of kid-friendly places nearby, she not only suggested Talent Park but also proactively looked up directions for me, being both thoughtful and helpful. In the evening, we went to Talent Park as she recommended. It was free, and there was a stunning light show reflected on the lake. My child clapped his hands with excitement the entire time. Back in the room, we found more delightful surprises – children's toothbrushes, small slippers, and even exclusive snacks. The room was spacious and bright, with a separate walk-in closet and a comfortable dressing area; every detail was just right. My child especially loved the large bathtub and happily played for over an hour. However, my five-year-old, who can't read, accidentally used the bubble bath bomb next to it (which had a prominent price tag). Later, I explained the situation to a staff member named Rita. She smiled and said, ”Consider this a little birthday surprise for your child; don't worry about it.” With that simple remark, she waived the fee. From start to finish, she never made us feel embarrassed, only moved by her understanding. From check-in to check-out, every detail at Wyndham Grand Hotel spoke volumes: they truly care about their guests' experience. It's not just standard service, but genuine, heartfelt care. This city becomes even more captivating because of such experiences. If Shenzhen is a city you'd want to revisit, then Wyndham Grand Hotel accounts for at least half the reason – it transforms travel from mere accommodation into a memory wrapped in warmth.

As the the five star scent wafts on to the street, we have returned to our home away from home for the 17th Annual Captivating Charity Ball. Futian Shangri-La has fabulous amenities, floral centerpieces. My favorites are on the fourth floor and include the rooftop garden. Beautiful accommodation with minor challenges: ◦ High deposit and no points if you don’t book on Shangri-La Circle. ◦ Twin beds pushed together are not at all comfortable in the middle. ◦ Bedside outlet is near the floor instead of the nightstand. ◦ Carpet leaves something to be desired. Food, too. ◦ Bring your swim cap, they do not sell them. Shangri La Hotel & Residences offers underground parking. Excellent in room service. Lots to do see and enjoy within walking distance. I can't rave enough about its amazing location and thoughtful service! 📍 The location is simply fantastic – the subway entrance is just 50 meters away, there's a huge shopping mall right next door, and downstairs you'll find convenience stores and popular bubble tea shops. For someone as lazy as me, it's incredibly convenient! 💁 And the service? Impeccable! The front desk staff were beautiful and welcoming, and as soon as the concierge saw us with luggage, they immediately rushed over to help. Every day when we returned, we were greeted with warm smiles from the staff, and our room was spotless. They even arranged my cosmetics neatly. The attention to detail really made an impression – this stay was perfect! I've already recommended it to all my girlfriends! I'm definitely booking this place again next time. I was very satisfied with my stay. My friend was coming over, and we planned to go to Hong Kong together, so I booked the Metropark Hotel, which is right above Shaibu subway station. It's really convenient to just go downstairs and take the subway directly to Luohu Port for border crossing. My friend even commented that they'd never stayed in a hotel with such a spacious room before. The room's amenities were complete, even including a dehumidifier. The hotel staff's service attitude was also excellent. Winnie, who assisted us, had a great attitude and even gave us a small panda gift bag. JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen This time I stayed at the JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen, which has always had an excellent reputation, and the views were absolutely spectacular! The welcome fruit platter came with the JW logo and special rosemary cookies, which was a nice touch – definitely not the usual 'traffic light' assortment. The hairdryer wasn't a Dyson, but the amenities were the standard JW AA products, and the drinking water was custom-bottled Bama water. The executive lounge offerings were quite impressive for a Marriott property, and having fresh-squeezed juice was a definite plus. The room itself was very spacious, with a Chinese luxury aesthetic. The living room area was ample, and having a guest bathroom made it feel like a proper suite. The room's view was good, despite the building not being particularly tall. The public areas were well-designed. The changing rooms had both hot and cold plunge pools, which was fantastic, especially since many hotels no longer offer this. The hotel's guest services team was superb! From check-in to check-out, they provided attentive and thoughtful service, truly going above and beyond to make us feel valued and cared for. They were incredibly considerate and thorough! Breakfast was extensive, with local Cantonese specialties. The coffee at the lobby bar was made with Peet's coffee beans, which is absolutely, unequivocally worth trying out!

What a pleasant surprise! I didn't expect this hotel to offer such outstanding value for money. The room, at over 50 square meters, was incredibly spacious and fully equipped with all amenities. What truly exceeded my expectations was the bathtub, perfect for a relaxing soak. The room was impeccably clean, comfortable, and spotless! The sea view was absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, it was continuously overcast and rainy during my three-day stay, so I missed out on seeing the clear blue sky and a beautiful sunrise. That's why I absolutely must return! Both the hotel's Western buffet breakfast and dinner were very satisfying. On my second evening, I also dined at the Chinese restaurant and was equally impressed. It offered great value for money, the food was delicious and hygienic, and the decor created a clean and comfortable environment. A definite must-return!

The room was quite spacious, and although the facilities were a bit dated, they were practical. The bed was comfortable, and the view was excellent; I could clearly see Window of the World when I drew back the curtains, and it was even better at night. The staff were warm and genuine, proactively helping with luggage and opening car doors. The only drawback was that the soundproofing wasn't great for rooms on the Window of the World side, so it could get a bit noisy when there was heavy traffic or when music was playing at Window of the World during the day.

## Facilities: Overall, the hotel feels quite dated, and the facilities are relatively old-fashioned. There's no robot service for things like food delivery. Since the hotel has a pool, it would be great if they could provide a drying rack on the balcony. I called the service center to ask if they could provide one, and the front desk told me to wait for a callback, but I never heard back. ## Hygiene: The hygiene was good. Although it's an older hotel, it was clean. ## Environment: The environment was excellent. I originally booked a mountain-view room, but the hotel upgraded me to a sea-view room for free, which I really appreciate. ## Service: The staff's service attitude was excellent. ## 200 RMB SPA Voucher: This wasn't useful for me. ## Shekou Ferry Terminal Shuttle Bus (requires 2-hour advance booking): This wasn't applicable to me.

We recently stayed at the InterContinental Shenzhen with our family—our 3-year-old daughter, 12-year-old son, my wife, and me—and we absolutely loved it! The hotel is wonderfully child-friendly, with activities that kept our kids delighted throughout. The pirate-themed swimming pool was a standout; our children didn’t want to leave! Our daughter especially adored the train that circles the swimming play area, adding a magical touch to their fun. The gym area is excellent, offering a great space for adults to unwind and stay active. The bar and restaurant exceeded our expectations, and breakfast was superb, featuring an impressive selection of both Chinese and Western dishes to suit every taste. A big thank you to @Dafne 达芙妮 for making our entire stay so special — her thoughtful service truly enhanced our experience. We have been returning to this hotel since our son was 2 years old, and thanks to Dafne, this visit was extra memorable. We are already looking forward to our next stay!

The hotel is located about 500 meters from the subway entrance, making transportation super convenient. There are also many dining and shopping options nearby, which is simply a perfect choice for tourists. The service is impeccable. I'd especially like to commend Xiao Ying at the front desk for her warm service. Every time I encountered a staff member, they would greet me with a smile, which felt very welcoming. I must specifically praise their mattress and pillows; they are just right in firmness, ensuring a dreamless sleep until morning. This is the greatest blessing for frequent business travelers.

Service: Beyond expectations, truly thoughtful and attentive. From Johnny, our butler, who handled the initial communication and arrangements, to Jessie, Vicky, and Louis at the front desk who upgraded our room and kindly extended our check-out due to an unexpected work schedule, and Ivy and her colleagues at the lounge who provided attentive care, along with other staff whose names I didn't catch – everyone was professional and considerate. Facilities: We stayed in a sea-view suite this time, and the view was absolutely unbeatable. Jessie at check-in mentioned we could see the sunrise from the room, so I made sure to get up early the next day, and indeed, the sunrise over the sea was stunning. Furthermore, the dining, as always with the Hyatt group, was excellent. Although the fitness center is outsourced, the equipment is top-notch, and there's a 24-hour exclusive area for hotel guests. Overall, I was extremely satisfied.

The great part is the location very convenient few minutes walk to MRT Hua Qiang Lu and shopping mall. And the price is affordable and consider cheap. I stay in level 5 corner unit, from window can see the main shopping mall  but a bit noisy from the car sound even if I closed the window. The roof top having 2 whaling machines for clothing . But I only found it on my last day. I stayed 3 nights in Maker Hotel.

Huanggang Port and Futian Port Shenzhen|3.51km from city centre
The hotel has a great location, very close to Futian Port, making customs clearance super convenient. Futian Mangrove Ecological Park is also nearby, which is perfect for a post-breakfast stroll. The front desk staff, especially one young lady, was incredibly helpful and patient; she gave very detailed directions to the ecological park. The breakfast in the restaurant was also excellent. The room itself was spacious with a good view, offering a distant glimpse of Hong Kong and Shenzhen Bay's inner sea. The bedding was clean and tidy, and all toiletries were provided. Plus, having a washer-dryer combo in the room made it excellent value for money, especially when traveling with elderly family members and children.

Comfortable stay at this hotel with a very spacious area for families to stay overnight for at least 2 nights. On the street next to the hotel, local food stores are available to fill up your stomach. Only need to take a cab if you want to get over to the nearest shopping mall. In addition, a big swimming pool for kids to have a swim fun. 🏊♀️

Stayed here with my boyfriend for 1 night as we needed a relaxing getaway from Hong Kong. Booked the hotel very last minute (3 hours before we arrived) and it exceeded our expectations! We came during the week so the area itself was not busy (as i’ve read it can get on the weekends) so it was perfect for us to have some peace and quiet. The hotel is ON the beach and there are activities that can be done from there (kayaking, jet ski etc). There are cute little coffee shops/restaurants all within walking distance and in the evening there was entertainment on the beach including an open air cinema with beach chairs for guests. We booked a room with a jacuzzi on the balcony which was lovely in the evening. The room was very clean, the king size bed was huge and we were able to watch english movies via the projector! (Even travelling in the city at more well known hotels, we have had trouble watching english language tv/movies so this was a bonus for us) In the morning we asked for late check out (very last minute) and they let us stay for an additional hour. Also, breakfast was included but we missed the allocated time and they texted us via wechat to offer to bring up 2 plates AND coffee which they did not have to do but was so appreciated. Overall, we needed to relax and this hotel was perfect. We will definitely be returning again AND recommending to our friends.

We stayed at The St. Regis Shenzhen to celebrate our anniversary, and it turned out to be a truly memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, everything felt personal, genuine, and full of warmth. A heartfelt thank-you to Chief Butler Faust and his team, especially Alice, for making our stay so special. Every detail was thoughtful — from the elegant room and beautiful view to the surprise anniversary room decoration and the genuine care they showed throughout our stay. They even went above and beyond by inviting us to experience the signature saber-opening champagne ritual, which made our celebration truly unforgettable!

Jiaochangwei and Dapeng Fortress Shenzhen|41.29km from city centre
This hotel is truly a hidden gem in Dapeng! It offers luxury, comfort, and amazing food, all to an exceptional degree. It's especially perfect for family trips with kids or gatherings. When we booked, we informed the hotel's 'Little Manager Wan' that it was our child's birthday. They went above and beyond by decorating our room and even providing a delicious birthday cake. Our child was so surprised and absolutely loved the special celebratory touch. The room was also meticulously clean and tidy; you could tell they put a lot of care into everything. Just below the hotel is a clean and uncrowded beach with crystal-clear water and dedicated safety management, which our child thoroughly enjoyed. As I was in my late pregnancy, the complimentary travel photoshoot offered by the hotel was incredibly professional. The photographer was skilled, friendly, highly interactive, and humorous, capturing exactly the natural and warm shots we wanted. The surrounding hotel environment also looked fantastic in the photos. We selected a few photos as keepsakes. A big thumbs up to the travel photographer – highly recommended! There are plenty of activities for kids at the hotel. Our child rode the mini train, and there's also a small ball pit playground and even a cinema, offering a very relaxing and therapeutic experience with films that all the children loved. What I particularly recommend is the pet paradise. Our child has always wanted a pet but we haven't allowed it at home, so this was a chance for a close-up encounter with animals. Kids can pick up the small animals, feed them, pet them, and interact with them up close. The hotel's breakfast buffet was incredibly rich and varied. We also had lunch at the hotel's Chinese restaurant, and the food there was delicious – definitely worth recommending. Our entire family was extremely satisfied with this experience. This hotel is highly recommended!

Yantian (Dameisha & Xiaomeisha) Shenzhen|26.99km from city centre
This InterContinental resort hotel was great, living up to the brand's usual standards. The room facilities and cleanliness were all up to par. I stayed for three nights and was very comfortable, with no inconveniences. Most rooms offer a sea view, though not all face directly out; some might be slightly angled due to the hotel's curved building design. During check-in, we were recommended Room 23, which offered a perfect direct sea view. It was excellent! So, for future guests, I recommend rooms in the 20s to mid-20s (you can check the room layout in the photo). The hotel's other facilities are also good. There are three outdoor pools and one indoor pool, all equipped with lounge chairs. The indoor pool even has inflatable toys for guests to play with. The gym and water sports equipment rental facilities were all well-equipped. The gym even had a stair climber, which I appreciated, haha. Breakfast was delicious and generally very good. Every day, I enjoyed a tiny, hard whole-wheat bread that was incredibly fragrant with a strong wheat flavor. Paired with a little light cream, it was super aromatic. The noodle bar also offered three kinds of greens and mushrooms daily. The soup itself was a bit salty, making a bowl of veggies in the morning very satisfying. On my last day, I had oil-splashed noodles (youpo mian) that were freshly shaved, very springy, and delicious. If you don't have a big appetite, remember to ask for fewer noodles. The breakfast restaurant's order and cleanliness were also good, making for a comfortable meal. The hotel's lobby bar also offered decent food. I had two cakes: the pistachio chocolate was better than the Opera cake. I also tried a refreshing chilled dessert (qingliangbu), which was quite tasty. The coffee was just average. I didn't try the hotel's buffet. I had a Tom Yum soup and a seafood salad at the Southeast Asian restaurant upstairs. The taste was good, but it wasn't great value for money. I went to the hotel's Cantonese restaurant, Yuècài Wángfǔ, two days in a row and absolutely loved it (you can see my separate review for Yuècài Wángfǔ). So, dining is definitely not an issue here. The front desk service was superb. The same kind and friendly gentleman, who was a bit chubby, checked us in and out. He was very warm and attentive, leaving me with an excellent first impression as soon as I arrived. All in all, Dameisha in the off-season is well worth it. Falling asleep to the sound of waves every night and waking up to the morning sun. After breakfast, I'd take a walk on the beach or just lie on a lounge chair by the beach or pool, lost in thought until the afternoon. It was truly delightful.

Shenzhen Kempinski Hotel - Excellent Service from Julia My recent stay at the Kempinski Hotel Shenzhen left a deep impression, all thanks to Julia's thoughtful service. When I checked in, she proactively provided information about local transportation. Upon learning I was there for a business trip, she kindly informed me about the hotel's meeting room facilities and express printing services – truly attentive to every detail. During my stay, I casually mentioned some discomfort in my neck. To my surprise, when I returned to my room that evening, I found an extra latex pillow. It turned out Julia had specially arranged for it to be sent. Later, when I needed a late check-out, she quickly helped communicate and resolve it. Her service throughout was efficient and genuinely heartwarming. The hotel itself boasts a superb location and comfortable bedding, but Julia's service truly enhanced the feeling of being at home. Her unobtrusive yet consistently considerate care was unforgettable. I will definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit to Shenzhen!

Traveling during the off-season, I was told I could get a free room upgrade, but then they insisted I sign up for their 89 [currency] membership to get it. All I got was an extra window. The drain in the room smelled terrible, which was a big downside. The location is convenient. The KFC breakfast was okay, but they wouldn't even give an extra breakfast portion for my baby. I won't be staying here again!

Visiting Shenzhen for the weekend, I decided to return to Banshan Yitang. **Pros:** 1. Rooms feature balconies. 2. Bathtubs are available. 3. Excellent, quiet location at the foot of a hill, very close to Sea World. 4. Plenty of dining options nearby, with convenient food delivery straight to your door. 5. There's a swimming pool (I haven't had a chance to use it yet). 6. Some room types offer kitchens (I haven't personally booked one with a kitchen here). **Areas for improvement:** 1. Breakfast was rather mediocre. 2. Only two complimentary bottles of water are provided (more can be requested). There are no free mini-bar items, but a refrigerator is available. 3. While the location at the foot of the hill offers tranquility, it means everything is a bit of a distance away. It's quite inconvenient without a car, but easy to navigate with a car or by taxi.
