The Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT) is the easiest way to travel between key areas such as Taipa, Cotai, Hengqin and Seac Pai Van. It is clean, modern, and easy to use, making it a good choice for both first-time visitors and regular travellers.

Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT) Map
Macau does not have a traditional metro system like Guangzhou or Hong Kong. Instead, the city uses the Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT), which is the main rail transport for visitors and locals. The LRT is clean, easy to use, and especially convenient for travelling between Taipa, Cotai, the airport and border areas. It is a good choice for tourists staying in resort and casino zones.
At present, three LRT lines are in operation. The Taipa Line is the core route and the most useful for visitors, linking Taipa Ferry Terminal, Macau International Airport, Cotai resorts, sports venues and residential areas. The Seac Pai Van Line extends service to the southern part of Coloane, making it easier to reach quieter residential and local neighbourhoods. The newest Hengqin Line, opened in December 2024, connects Taipa directly to Hengqin Port, allowing smooth transfers between Macau and mainland China.
More lines are under development to improve coverage. The East Line, expected to open around 2028, will connect the Macau Peninsula with Taipa, serving busy border areas and city districts. Future West and South Lines are also planned to further link the peninsula, inner harbour areas and tourism zones.

Most Macau LRT services run from 6:30 AM to around 11:15 PM on weekdays, with extended service until 11:59 PM on weekends and public holidays. Trains run frequently, but it is still best to check official notices for real time updates.

Important Notes

- Each sea crossing section counts as two stations, including Barra to Ocean Station and Hengqin to Lotus Station.
- For trips involving Seac Pai Van Station or Union Hospital Station, Union Hospital Station is counted as one station.

How to Buy Macau LRT Tickets?
Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT) is easy to use, but payment options are a little different from mainland China.
Tickets can be bought at Ticket Vending Machines or at the Customer Service Centre inside each LRT station. Machines are simple to use, but mostly accept cash and LRT Cards, while service counters offer more flexible payment options for visitors.

How to Ride Macau LRT?
1. Plan Your Route 🗺️
Check which line and station you need. Macau LRT currently has Taipa Line, Seac Pai Van Line and Hengqin Line. Route maps are shown at stations and on electronic screens.
2. Buy a Ticket or Prepare Payment 🎫💳
You have a few easy options:

3. Enter the Station 🚪
Go through the entry gate:

The gate will open once payment is accepted.
4. Wait for the Train 🚉
Follow station signs to the correct platform.

5. Ride the LRT 🚈

Check-in felt a little unaccommodating, even with no queue. The room had a dated, musty smell, and sadly, the kettle handle overheated and burned my hand while I was preparing water for our baby. Stayed in the Deluxe Grand Emperor Quadruple Room at the Grand Emperor Hotel Macau. The room had one king bed, one single bed, and an additional rollaway bed, so everyone had their own space without disturbing each other – the room was perfectly spacious. I've always wanted to stay at the Galaxy Macau, but unfortunately, there was a thunderstorm warning on the day we checked in, so we couldn't enjoy the water activities. It was a bit disappointing. However, staying at Galaxy is incredibly convenient; there are plenty of dining, entertainment, and shopping options available. Plus, if you show your Air Macau boarding pass, you can get many discounts and free gifts. It's also super easy to get to the Venetian, Big Ben, and Parisian from here. After a good night's sleep, we could even pop over to Rua do Cunha the next day, which is very close by. What I'll remember most is how incredibly comfortable the beds are at the Galaxy hotel. The room was beautiful and clean, and the service was absolutely fantastic. Truly five-star service! The facilities and environment are excellent, but the staff's attitude doesn't match the hotel's star rating.
1. When checking in, I was carrying a large suitcase and my phone, along with many other items. A staff member saw me but no one offered to help, not even to push my luggage into the lobby.
2. The hotel reception doesn't allow external food deliveries. I wasn't informed of this during check-in. I'm not sure if the delivery person was told, but the front desk doesn't check which room an order belongs to by name, nor do they instruct the delivery person to leave it elsewhere. My phone had no signal locally, so the delivery person couldn't reach me and left the food at the front desk. Within a mere fifteen minutes, it was cleared away by a cleaning staff member, mistaken for trash... Although the front desk staff helped me look for it, they were extremely impatient, as if it had nothing to do with them. It's just a stone's throw from the Ruins of St. Paul's and right in front of Yaohan Department Store. While not overly spacious, the rooms are thoughtfully designed and comfortable, maintaining a respectable standard. The cleanliness is impeccable, and the service is quite satisfactory, especially their excellent luggage storage service. What's particularly impressive is the complete absence of noise despite being in such a bustling area, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep – truly satisfying! The value for money is outstanding!
Around the hotel, the nearby streets and alleys offer a wide array of dining options, with various Chinese and Western restaurants to choose from. A dim sum restaurant is right around the corner, so you can fill up on breakfast before heading out to explore.

Many thanks to the reservations department for their efficient replies and thoughtful service, which made this trip possible (it was almost canceled due to a thunderstorm ⛈️ warning). The front office staff provided warm and detailed service; a special thank you to Forrest for the care! The in-room service was particularly impressive. Every staff member was well-trained in etiquette and manners, and they responded promptly. The turndown service was especially warm and welcoming! I specifically brought my mom here for her birthday. The ambiance, service, and cleanliness were all excellent, as expected from Wynn. Since it was my mom's birthday, the hotel even gave us a small, delicious cake. There was a minor hiccup during our stay: some other guests were being loud in the hallway at night, disturbing our rest. However, the hotel staff did their best to resolve the issue. I was in Macau for a quick one-day business trip and needed to take the Cotai Water Jet to Hong Kong. I saw they offered a free shuttle service, so I decided to stay here. Turns out, the shuttle schedule was way off from my ferry time, so I ended up taking a taxi anyway, haha! But it wasn't too expensive, so it was fine.
Facilities: You can tell the hotel is a bit older, but it's well-maintained. I asked for a room near the elevator, and to my surprise, it was right by the entrance. Very convenient! Luckily, the soundproofing was good, or it would've been noisy.
Environment: The hotel is located right on a street corner. The immediate surroundings are nothing special, but it's very convenient for walking, taking the bus, or getting a taxi. There are also some good cha chaan tengs nearby.
Service: Pretty good. Check-in requires a deposit, and they accept electronic payments, but I also had cash. They made sure to remind me to keep my receipt.FromMYR 253

First time staying at this hotel, and it was quite comfortable. It's conveniently located whether you're heading further into Taipa (it's actually right at the border between Taipa and the Peninsula, just across a bridge) or exploring the Macau Peninsula. On arrival day, it's better to take a public bus to the hotel rather than the hotel shuttle, as missing one means waiting almost an hour. Also, on check-out day, you can get a free shuttle to the Border Gate by showing your room key card holder, according to their schedule. The room was absolutely palatial, as one might expect from Macau. It was fully equipped with all the amenities, even a refrigerator and a safe, and I have to mention, it also had a bathtub – truly exceeding my expectations!
