The Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT) is the easiest way to travel between key areas such as Taipa, Cotai, Hengqin and Seac Pai Van. It is clean, modern, and easy to use, making it a good choice for both first-time visitors and regular travellers.

Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT) Map
Macau does not have a traditional metro system like Guangzhou or Hong Kong. Instead, the city uses the Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT), which is the main rail transport for visitors and locals. The LRT is clean, easy to use, and especially convenient for travelling between Taipa, Cotai, the airport and border areas. It is a good choice for tourists staying in resort and casino zones.
At present, three LRT lines are in operation. The Taipa Line is the core route and the most useful for visitors, linking Taipa Ferry Terminal, Macau International Airport, Cotai resorts, sports venues and residential areas. The Seac Pai Van Line extends service to the southern part of Coloane, making it easier to reach quieter residential and local neighbourhoods. The newest Hengqin Line, opened in December 2024, connects Taipa directly to Hengqin Port, allowing smooth transfers between Macau and mainland China.
More lines are under development to improve coverage. The East Line, expected to open around 2028, will connect the Macau Peninsula with Taipa, serving busy border areas and city districts. Future West and South Lines are also planned to further link the peninsula, inner harbour areas and tourism zones.

Most Macau LRT services run from 6:30 AM to around 11:15 PM on weekdays, with extended service until 11:59 PM on weekends and public holidays. Trains run frequently, but it is still best to check official notices for real time updates.

Important Notes
- *Fare information is based on official Macau LRT data and may change without notice.
- Each sea crossing section counts as two stations, including Barra to Ocean Station and Hengqin to Lotus Station.
- For trips involving Seac Pai Van Station or Union Hospital Station, Union Hospital Station is counted as one station.
- Children under 1 metre in height travel free, but must be accompanied by an adult.
- Single journey tickets are valid only on the day of purchase.
For longer regional journeys, such as travelling between Macau, Zhuhai or other Greater Bay Area cities, high speed rail and intercity trains are usually much faster than urban rail and are worth considering for time saving travel.

How to Buy Macau LRT Tickets?
Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT) is easy to use, but payment options are a little different from mainland China.
Tickets can be bought at Ticket Vending Machines or at the Customer Service Centre inside each LRT station. Machines are simple to use, but mostly accept cash and LRT Cards, while service counters offer more flexible payment options for visitors.

How to Ride Macau LRT?
1. Plan Your Route 🗺️
Check which line and station you need. Macau LRT currently has Taipa Line, Seac Pai Van Line and Hengqin Line. Route maps are shown at stations and on electronic screens.
2. Buy a Ticket or Prepare Payment 🎫💳
You have a few easy options:
- Single Journey Ticket: Buy at ticket machines (MOP cash only) or at the Customer Service Centre
- Mobile payment: Alipay or WeChat Pay (at Customer Service Centres)
- LRT Card / Macau Pass: Tap and go, with discounted fares (often around 50% off)
3. Enter the Station 🚪
Go through the entry gate:
- Tap your LRT Card / Macau Pass on the reader
- Insert your paper Single Journey Ticket into the slot
The gate will open once payment is accepted.
4. Wait for the Train 🚉
Follow station signs to the correct platform.
- Taipa Line: about every 5–10 minutes
- Seac Pai Van & Hengqin Lines: about every 6 minutes
Stand behind the safety line and let passengers get off first.
5. Ride the LRT 🚈
Board in an orderly way. Trains are clean and quiet, with seats and handrails.
Wheelchair spaces are available near the doors. For views, try the front or rear cars.
6. Exit at Your Station ✅

To get here, take bus No. 1 from Gongbei Port to Pak Kong Car Park, then just cross the road. This was my first stay at this hotel, which is excellently located in the heart of Macau Peninsula, not far from the Ruins of St. Paul's.
The staff member who checked me in that day was foreign and didn't speak much Cantonese, so we communicated entirely in English. He informed me that disposable toiletries needed to be requested by phone.
There was no bottled water in the room, but there was a water dispenser on the floor.
Overall, the room facilities were good. The only thing I'd like to add is that the shower cap in the bathroom felt like it had been used and put back. I called housekeeping to request a new one, but when I opened the box, that one was also loose. The staff insisted that new ones were indeed like that, which left me speechless! Folks, let me tell you, for being in the city center, this is a pretty charming, decent, almost retro hotel. The staff are very pleasant and always smiling. There are tons of shops and restaurants around. Exchange offices are just 2 minutes away. If you see a more or less reasonable price around 500, it's better to book the hotel in advance if you need it for several days or a week, as the price changes daily from 500 to 900 closer to the weekends. Reading reviews of other hotels in the area that are cheaper, there have been cases of personal belongings and money being stolen from rooms. In any case, always be careful. It's better to overpay a hundred or two dollars for a few days than to lose half your cash and deal with the police. I'm sure it's safe here. My kids absolutely loved this hotel! The lobby instantly caught their eye with its Disney-themed decor, and there was free popcorn to enjoy. Due to the holiday, check-in wasn't super quick, but the service was incredibly thorough. Our room was on a high floor, so you definitely need to pay attention to which elevator you're taking. The hotel's amenities are all-inclusive: a swimming pool, a paid water park, a paid indoor playground, an arcade, a shopping arcade, and a snack street – they have everything you could possibly want. If you want to go to The Venetian, you just walk out of the hotel lobby, cross the road, and you're at The Parisian Macao. My relatives and friends didn't know which taps were for hot and cold water. You can walk across the street to catch the Sands shuttle to Taipa, and there's a New City Supermarket downstairs. Overall, I was very satisfied!

My wife and I stayed at Wynn Macau again from June 7-9, 2026. We returned because of our satisfying first experience.
The front desk staff were attentive and polite, and they upgraded our room. The room was luxurious, spacious, and spotless, looking as good as new and well-maintained.
At 'Wing Lei' restaurant, both breakfast and dinner offered exquisite food with a wide variety of choices at reasonable prices. Enjoying a coffee or beer at 'Wing Lei Bar' during leisure time was a delightful pleasure.
I must especially mention that after checking out, I realized I had left my phone in the safe. Fortunately, the hotel team safely kept it, and with Ms. Mak Tsz Kuen (Manager)'s prompt contact and thoughtful arrangements, I was able to retrieve my phone. Many thanks!

The hotel's location is great; it's just a few minutes' walk to the bus stop, making it very convenient to get around. They also offer a free shuttle service to the airport, but you need to book it in advance. The rooms are neat and clean.From€35

This is my second stay here. The room and bed are both very big. My kids loved the bathtub and played so much that the floor ended up covered in water. They were running around and one of them accidentally slipped and hit the back of their head. We immediately called for help, and they quickly provided ice for the swelling. The service was truly excellent; as parents, our biggest concern is our children. Thankfully, there was no major injury in the end. I'm truly grateful to all the staff at Altira Macau for their assistance. We will definitely choose to stay here again next time!From€85
