The Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT) is the easiest way to travel between key areas such as Taipa, Cotai, Hengqin and Seac Pai Van. It is clean, modern, and easy to use, making it a good choice for both first-time visitors and regular travellers.

Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT) Map
Macau does not have a traditional metro system like Guangzhou or Hong Kong. Instead, the city uses the Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT), which is the main rail transport for visitors and locals. The LRT is clean, easy to use, and especially convenient for travelling between Taipa, Cotai, the airport and border areas. It is a good choice for tourists staying in resort and casino zones.
At present, three LRT lines are in operation. The Taipa Line is the core route and the most useful for visitors, linking Taipa Ferry Terminal, Macau International Airport, Cotai resorts, sports venues and residential areas. The Seac Pai Van Line extends service to the southern part of Coloane, making it easier to reach quieter residential and local neighbourhoods. The newest Hengqin Line, opened in December 2024, connects Taipa directly to Hengqin Port, allowing smooth transfers between Macau and mainland China.
More lines are under development to improve coverage. The East Line, expected to open around 2028, will connect the Macau Peninsula with Taipa, serving busy border areas and city districts. Future West and South Lines are also planned to further link the peninsula, inner harbour areas and tourism zones.

Most Macau LRT services run from 6:30 AM to around 11:15 PM on weekdays, with extended service until 11:59 PM on weekends and public holidays. Trains run frequently, but it is still best to check official notices for real time updates.

Important Notes
- *Fare information is based on official Macau LRT data and may change without notice.
- Each sea crossing section counts as two stations, including Barra to Ocean Station and Hengqin to Lotus Station.
- For trips involving Seac Pai Van Station or Union Hospital Station, Union Hospital Station is counted as one station.
- Children under 1 metre in height travel free, but must be accompanied by an adult.
- Single journey tickets are valid only on the day of purchase.
For longer regional journeys, such as travelling between Macau, Zhuhai or other Greater Bay Area cities, high speed rail and intercity trains are usually much faster than urban rail and are worth considering for time saving travel.

How to Buy Macau LRT Tickets?
Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT) is easy to use, but payment options are a little different from mainland China.
Tickets can be bought at Ticket Vending Machines or at the Customer Service Centre inside each LRT station. Machines are simple to use, but mostly accept cash and LRT Cards, while service counters offer more flexible payment options for visitors.

How to Ride Macau LRT?
1. Plan Your Route 🗺️
Check which line and station you need. Macau LRT currently has Taipa Line, Seac Pai Van Line and Hengqin Line. Route maps are shown at stations and on electronic screens.
2. Buy a Ticket or Prepare Payment 🎫💳
You have a few easy options:
- Single Journey Ticket: Buy at ticket machines (MOP cash only) or at the Customer Service Centre
- Mobile payment: Alipay or WeChat Pay (at Customer Service Centres)
- LRT Card / Macau Pass: Tap and go, with discounted fares (often around 50% off)
3. Enter the Station 🚪
Go through the entry gate:
- Tap your LRT Card / Macau Pass on the reader
- Insert your paper Single Journey Ticket into the slot
The gate will open once payment is accepted.
4. Wait for the Train 🚉
Follow station signs to the correct platform.
- Taipa Line: about every 5–10 minutes
- Seac Pai Van & Hengqin Lines: about every 6 minutes
Stand behind the safety line and let passengers get off first.
5. Ride the LRT 🚈
Board in an orderly way. Trains are clean and quiet, with seats and handrails.
Wheelchair spaces are available near the doors. For views, try the front or rear cars.
6. Exit at Your Station ✅

I booked a deluxe king room with executive benefits. This hotel no longer offers complimentary shuttle service. Since my booking included executive benefits, I received complimentary afternoon tea and a dinner set menu. If you want to upgrade to a buffet dinner, it's an extra 100 RMB per person, which is still worth it.
The room itself was standard, but a decent size. Compared to the 'pigeonhole' hotels I've stayed in before in Hong Kong, this room was much more spacious. The decor is a bit dated, but the French-style design still looks good. The gym is located next to the pool on the first floor and is also a good size. Zhuhai is right across the river, offering pleasant views. From the hotel, you can take a direct bus to Gongbei Port. It's about a 20-minute walk to Grand Lisboa. The hotel breakfast is very plentiful with a wide variety of options, and the service is excellent, including dedicated Chinese-speaking staff. The hotel is located near Fisherman's Wharf, right opposite Sands Macao. If you're like me and prefer to stay on the Macau Peninsula side, this location is quite convenient. It's about two or three stops from the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, and very close to the sea, making for a pleasant stroll after dinner with a nice sea breeze.
The hotel's overall design is European classical, with a touch of vintage palace-like decor. The high ceilings make the rooms feel more grand and spacious. Although you can tell the hotel has been open for some years, and the facilities aren't brand new, they are well-maintained with no obvious signs of age.
The room size was a pleasant surprise this time; it's quite spacious for Macau, with plenty of room between the two beds and ample space to open suitcases. I've always wanted to stay at the Galaxy Macau, but unfortunately, there was a thunderstorm warning on the day we checked in, so we couldn't enjoy the water activities. It was a bit disappointing. However, staying at Galaxy is incredibly convenient; there are plenty of dining, entertainment, and shopping options available. Plus, if you show your Air Macau boarding pass, you can get many discounts and free gifts. It's also super easy to get to the Venetian, Big Ben, and Parisian from here. After a good night's sleep, we could even pop over to Rua do Cunha the next day, which is very close by. What I'll remember most is how incredibly comfortable the beds are at the Galaxy hotel. Although we are a couple sans children, the hotel is very family friendly with two pools (one indoor, one outdoor). Outdoor pool had an area for children with a zip line and balance obstacles. Traveling with a friend after the May Day holiday, I booked two rooms – one with twin beds and one with a king bed. There was a connecting door between them. I called the front desk and asked them to open it, instantly turning them into a convenient suite for interacting, yet we could close the door for privacy when resting.

I stayed here about eight years ago, shortly after the Grand Lisboa Palace first opened. It was incredibly grand, like a palace or a castle, and cost one to two thousand [yuan/patacas] a night back then.
Now, the casino is closed, and it's a bit more desolate, but the hotel's infrastructure, service, and luxury standards remain. In fact, because the casino is closed, it's now much cheaper, offering incredibly high value for money.

It was our anniversary and Gary at reception offered us a lte check out since we arrived at the hotel quite late. We were also upgraded together with a free red wine as our gift and we were thrilled and we were further offered 2 complimentary breakfast althought we didn't use att the end. I found out that I didn't take my airpods with me at the time when I checked out and we went to lunch. I came back and then 2 receptionists helped me out and called the room to bring it back down even after checkout, I m so pleased by the services Ascott provided me and to us.

This hotel was soooo much nicer than we expected!
For starters, you have plenty of cheap restaurants within a 3-minute-walk radius.
The rooms are unbelievably big and clean and with all the amenities you need.
The housekeeping seems to be working 24h because we needed some water at 11pm and they came immediately to deliver it.
The hotel also has a small gym and a pool on the 4th floor, as well as 3 restaurants and a ****** - I meant it when I said this hotel is much nicer than we expected!
Unfortunately we only had 2 nights there so couldn’t enjoy it fully but those 2 days were plenty of time to see Macau.

Big shout-out to Mandarin Oriental Macau!
This was my third trip to Macau, and this time I stayed in the old town. The Mandarin Oriental immediately caught my eye.
Transportation is super convenient. From the airport, we took the MGM Macau shuttle, and since the two hotels are connected, it was an easy walk to the hotel after getting off. When we went to Hong Kong, we had a private car pick us up from the Mandarin Oriental and take us directly to our Hong Kong hotel. If you're going to the airport, I'd also recommend booking a private car, as the MGM airport shuttle always has long queues.
The location is excellent, very quiet, and surrounded by plenty of dining, entertainment, and shopping options.
The hotel service was fantastic. During check-in, they specifically gave me a room with an amazing view, where I could see the Macau Tower from every angle. The bathroom faced directly towards the Grand Lisboa, so you could take stunning photos right from your room without even leaving the hotel.
Regarding the room:
The room was huge! Compared to the cramped spaces in Hong Kong, Macau's rooms are so big you could play hide-and-seek. The children's toiletries weren't provided promptly; we only received the bathrobes and disposable slippers on our last day at checkout. The slippers were adorable little bear shapes, very cute, and you could take them with you – good quality too.
Regarding breakfast:
The variety was extensive. I recommend going early; after 9 AM, it gets very crowded, and they'll arrange for you to dine in the lounge, which makes it less convenient to get your food.
Regarding family activities:
I suggest bringing swimsuits; Macau is still quite warm in February, so you can enjoy the infinity pool. The SPA's soap-making workshop was also very interesting. Preschoolers can easily complete it, the process was very enjoyable, and the finished product was quite therapeutic.

I was in Macau for a quick one-day business trip and needed to take the Cotai Water Jet to Hong Kong. I saw they offered a free shuttle service, so I decided to stay here. Turns out, the shuttle schedule was way off from my ferry time, so I ended up taking a taxi anyway, haha! But it wasn't too expensive, so it was fine.
Facilities: You can tell the hotel is a bit older, but it's well-maintained. I asked for a room near the elevator, and to my surprise, it was right by the entrance. Very convenient! Luckily, the soundproofing was good, or it would've been noisy.
Environment: The hotel is located right on a street corner. The immediate surroundings are nothing special, but it's very convenient for walking, taking the bus, or getting a taxi. There are also some good cha chaan tengs nearby.
Service: Pretty good. Check-in requires a deposit, and they accept electronic payments, but I also had cash. They made sure to remind me to keep my receipt.From£36

This is an established four-star hotel with professional and attentive service that made me feel completely at ease. Highly recommended!
There were doormen at the entrance to open doors and help with luggage. I arrived early and was able to store my luggage before checking in at 3 PM. Check-out is before 12 PM, and the deposit was 500. They also offer luggage storage after check-out.
Although the room wasn't huge, the layout was incredibly well-designed, making it feel cozy, comfortable, and upscale. The interior decor and materials were high-quality, not cheap-looking at all. I requested a non-smoking room and a high floor, and they gave me a corner suite on the 17th floor with a fantastic view. It's newly renovated and very well-maintained, so it doesn't feel old-fashioned.
The location is excellent, just a 15-minute walk to Rua do Cunha. Bus and light rail stations are also very close by. If you walk further into the residential area, there are tons of great places to eat.
The hotel's dim sum restaurant on the 3rd floor is also quite good, starting service at 10 AM. Hotel guests get a discount, and even though I had already checked out that day, they still gave me the discount, which was a very thoughtful gesture.From£37
