I stayed here for 4 nights. As a 5-star hotel, the price (around 700,000 won per night) is quite high. The problem is, this hotel is definitely not a 5-star by general global standards. (I'm curious how it got its 5-star rating.) You should really consider it a 3 to 4-star hotel. As you can see from the Trip.com rating, I travel to many hotels worldwide every year, and I've never seen a 5-star hotel (including boutique and small luxury) like this. 1. **Facilities**: The rooftop pool is ridiculously small, the size of a jacuzzi for about 3-4 people, because they tried to fit a bar into a space that was already too small for a pool, clearly prioritizing sales. There are no sunbeds, of course, and only 2-3 chairs available. Even this 'pool' closes at 7 PM. It's very different from the rooftop pool in the advertisements. It's best to assume there's no pool at all; it's purely for show. 2. **Location**: This is a small to medium-sized boutique-style hotel, and its location means taxis and other vehicles cannot stop directly in front of it. You have to carry all your luggage to and from a nearby road. Naturally, there's no concierge service to assist with this. One of the two elevators was always broken, and they were small and dark. 3. **Room**: I usually sleep well even with noise, but this time it was really difficult. I was assigned a room on the first floor, and the noise from the surrounding alleyways came straight through; there was absolutely no soundproofing. I was shocked by the level of sound insulation for a 5-star hotel. Especially the rooms along lines 8-10, which face a main alley where people walk around late, were so noisy that I couldn't sleep until the early hours of the morning. I also don't recommend the breakfast, as the variety was too limited for the price. The cafe next to the breakfast restaurant opens early, and there are many bakeries and restaurants nearby, so you have plenty of other options. The hygiene and friendliness were acceptable, and it would have been fine if the price was appropriate for a 3-4 star hotel. However, it is definitely not a 5-star hotel, and I hope this helps those who are considering it.

The hotel has a good location, with many restaurants nearby and several metro lines. It's within walking distance of the Palau de la Música, the Gothic Quarter, Casa Batlló, and Casa Milà. The hotel rooms aren't large, but they're acceptable. The bathroom, while small, is functional. The king-size bed is made of two double beds pushed together, and the bedding is comfortable. Breakfast starts at 7:30 AM. If you have plans for the morning, you can book a room without breakfast. However, the hotel breakfast is quite substantial, including freshly squeezed orange juice, various cheeses and breads, and marinated salmon. On our last day, we had to catch a train and didn't have time for breakfast, so we told the restaurant in advance, and they prepared takeaway breakfast boxes for us to eat on the train. This hotel, like the one we stayed at in Madrid, is part of the 'Catalonia Hotels and Resorts' group, and we had a very good experience with both.

The hotel's cleanliness, ambiance, and facilities are all excellent, and the rooms are comfortable. However, what was extremely disappointing was the hotel's handling of late checkout. Although we were only about an hour and a half past the normal checkout time and were prepared to pay a fee, we were charged 95 Euros for an extension until only 2 PM. This price seems highly unreasonable, both in terms of the standard charge and the actual service received. What's even more regrettable is the hotel's lack of flexibility, especially given its high room rates and brand positioning. A 95 Euro charge for such a short extension felt more like an attempt to generate additional revenue. While the hotel's physical amenities are commendable, this experience severely impacted our overall stay and made us reconsider whether we would choose this hotel again in the future.

The room is new and quite nice. They offer free luggage storage, and the front desk staff are very welcoming. You can also get free water and coffee at the front desk every day. However, the bed is a bit soft, which might not be suitable for people prone to back pain. The hotel is located in a quiet residential area with authentic bars and restaurants nearby. It's not too far and not too close to the city's attractions; walking might be a bit tiring, so public transport is usually needed. However, it's very close to the subway and bus stations, which is convenient.

The room was quite spacious; my friend and I had no problem opening up both our suitcases. The water pressure in the bathroom was excellent, making showers and hair washing quite comfortable. The location is pretty good too – a bit far from the subway but there's a bus stop right outside. It's super convenient for getting to Casa Milà, Casa Batlló, and Sagrada Família. The area feels safe, with plenty of food and drink options nearby. The staff were very friendly and spoke English fluently, so communication was a breeze. However, there were a few issues. Firstly, there was no shower curtain for the bathtub, so the bathroom floor was soaked every time we showered, and it got quite chilly after a while. Secondly, the duvet didn't have a proper cover; instead, two sheets were used above and below it, and all three layers were tucked in so tightly under the mattress by the staff that we had to struggle to pull the duvet out every night. We ended up asking the front desk not to make our beds for the rest of our stay. Though, I hear this duvet cover situation might be common in Europe. Lastly, the soundproofing was really poor. We were lucky our neighbors weren't too noisy, and my friend and I aren't particularly sensitive to sound, but you could honestly hear every little thing happening next door. All in all, it was a mixed bag, but for the price and location, we couldn't really expect much more.

This was my very first time planning a solo trip abroad, and I was admittedly quite anxious after paying the full price and then reading some mixed reviews. Since the policy didn’t allow cancellations, I checked in with a bit of worry—but I’m really glad I did. The room turned out to be pleasantly clean and well-organized. I particularly liked the layout: there are two doors between the bedroom and the bathroom, which gave me a strong sense of privacy and security while resting. Another highlight was the lovely scent in the room—it instantly made me feel at ease and almost like being at home. (If possible, I’d love to ask what kind of aroma sachet or air freshener is used—I’d like to buy the same one!) During mid-November, the evenings in Barcelona were slightly chilly, but the heating/air-conditioning unit in the room worked well and kept things comfortable. That said, when the unit is turned on, there’s a noticeable mechanical noise—it’s not too loud and didn’t disturb my rest, but worth mentioning. I also appreciated how responsive the staff were. On my first night, I thought the external shutter in the room was broken. I reported it to the front desk, and the manager quickly sent someone to assist. It turned out the shutter was manually operated by a cord hidden behind the inner curtain on the far right—easy to miss at first glance. Although the hotel isn’t in the city center, transportation was convenient—there’s a nearby bus stop within walking distance, with easy access to both the metro and Sants train station. A nice bonus: just a 3-minute walk away is a bakery called Joncake & Wine, a branch of the famous Joncake. Their Basque cheesecake is incredible, and being a branch, it’s much less crowded than the main store. There’s also a small convenience store right downstairs—great for picking up water or other essentials. One downside would be the soundproofing. The walls and floors seem quite thin, so I could hear voices and footsteps from the neighboring room. It wasn’t too disruptive for me, but worth noting. Originally, I only planned to stay three nights, but I ended up liking it enough to extend for another three. Overall, this stay exceeded my expectations and became a memorable part of my solo trip to Spain.

The environment here is pretty good. These photos were taken on May 7th. It's super convenient to get to Barcelona city center by metro, though sometimes there might be slight delays. There are also beaches nearby. Just a heads up, they don't provide slippers, and the toothbrushes are a bit low quality. Other than that, everything else is great, and the soundproofing is also quite good.

The hotel provides a ree shuttle minivan with advance notifications to a nearby metro station/shopping mall. It is less convenient with no local phone when booking a return pick up time because I couldn't foretell when I was able to return. The staff was considerate to allow us to check in slightly earlier. Great stay! We arrived in the morning and the staff arranged an early check-in for us, which was a big plus 👍🏻👍🏻. There are two fast-food restaurants right next to the hotel and a supermarket nearby, so it's super convenient 👍🏻. If you don't mind a slightly longer commute to Barcelona, I'd definitely recommend staying here.

This hotel, being new in 2024, is clean and tidy, and the kitchenette is a convenient touch. The food at Amani restaurant was delicious. The breakfast buffet, however, was just average. The downside is that the staff aren't particularly friendly and don't seem to care about the guests. To be precise, at check-in, an employee named Jenia made a mistake and undercharged me. I didn't know about it, but the next day I received a text asking me to pay the remaining balance. I didn't mind paying the extra, but that evening, when I tried to enter my room, my key card didn't work. When I went to reception, I found out they had deliberately blocked my room to ensure I'd pay the outstanding amount. This is the first time I've encountered a hotel that treats guests this way. They could have called me, or left a message in the room, but instead, they chose this petty method of intentionally preventing me from entering my room. The staff just have a cheap mentality. I had to pay card fees twice for two transactions, and the exchange rate was rising. I explained it was a loss for me and asked why I should fix their employee's mistake, but they just said I had to pay. They wouldn't offer any compensation. Furthermore, the gym is small, and they keep all the doors closed, so the air is very stuffy. When I opened a window, they told me to close it for safety reasons. They kept coming to close it themselves. What's more, when I complained about the payment issue, they deflected by giving a ridiculous explanation that the problem was caused by me opening the gym door. When I requested to speak with the general manager, the female staff member I thought was the GM turned out to be just the Executive Housekeeper. We arranged a meeting, but there was no response, and she kept postponing it with excuses about having other meetings. Later, when I finally met her, she claimed she had been looking for me. They could have called, come to my room, or sent a text message. I'm really annoyed by the utterly unreasonable behavior of the staff. They say Tembo means 'elephant' and the building resembles an elephant, which is why it's named Tembo, but the staff have hearts smaller than ants.
