Great hotel in a fabulous location. Only a minute's walk to the well photographed picturesque Victoria Street and then a little bit further to the castle. The Grassmarket area is lively with bars and eateries and had a market on while we were there at the weekend. The hotel is very clean and well presented. The breakfast was amazing and had beautiful views out to the castle. The staff are all very helpful. Rooms are comfortable and warm. It didn't have a bar or restaurant, but it's sister hotel just 10 seconds walk away, had both these and a pool which guests could use. I highly recommend the hotel.

I was a bit worried after seeing some negative reviews, but it turned out to be excellent. First, the location is only a few minutes from the train station; you just exit the ground floor and walk for three minutes. The front desk staff and cleaning crew were all very friendly. I arrived ten minutes late for check-in, and they even offered me a hot drink from the bar next door. The room was spacious, and there was a large complimentary bottle of water every day. Calton Hill is a three-minute walk if you turn left when you exit the main door, and a five-minute walk to the Scott Monument and the '网红桥' (famous Instagram bridge) if you turn right. A M&S supermarket is also not far. It's definitely worth staying here.

We stayed in an apartment, was really happy until we got back to our room at 10.30pm to a freezing cold room. No heating! And it’s was at least -3 outside. Rang down to reception to be told they would reset the heating?! After 30 min I rang again and let them know that hadn’t worked, they sent up some extra blankets at 11.30pm. Not really acceptable, as we were cold all night and morning and It really spoilt the experience and being out in the cold all day to then come back to a cold flat wasn’t very nice. I spoke to the manager in the morning who offered to refunded the cost of our breakfast and apologised and said there was nothing they could do as there is no maintenance on weekends ?! Not good enough really. Wouldn’t recommend.

The place was clean, the location was convenient, and the staff were friendly. Having a locker in the room for storing belongings was a definite plus. I also had the good fortune of having very considerate roommates, which meant I enjoyed some great sleep during my stay.

I like The Moxy. You know what you’re getting. I also like that they gave recently greatly improved the food offering and standards of catering at their EDI hotel. It’s easy in, easy out, small rooms but nice beds and pillows and decent little shower rooms. It would be good though, for the airport hotels in the same area to co-fund a covered walkway to the terminal as the 10-11 minute walk in inclement weather is grim, either end of a flight!

The hotel is located close to the train station, about a 20-minute walk away. The facilities are quite complete, including a washing machine, induction cooker, and oven, and the room is quite spacious. We checked in our luggage in advance, and the service was quite good.

Overall it was a nice stay but it was a mixed experience. What we loved - The room was lovely, we were really happy with the amenities available in the room. We booked a studio and it came with 2 double beds, good kitchen amenities, large bathroom, washer and dryer and a pretty cool skylight with a black out blind (we were in room 411 on the 4th floor) - Staff were lovely and polite - Location was ideal as it wasn't too far from the station and had plenty of shops, cafes and Christmas activities around. What we didn't like - The room wasn't as clean as we'd hoped. One of the rooms has dust behind the door and the vents for the A/C needed dusting. - There was a little confusion over whether I'd paid, I paid beforehand with Trip.com and it didn't register with them, so they asked for me to pay when checking in, if I hadn't checked I may have needed too. (Also if you're booking, it may be worth going direct as there was a nearly £30 difference between the price I paid through trip.com and what I was 'invoiced' following our stay) - They ran out of shampoo and it had clearly been filled up with water to compensate (not major but if you're paying nearly £200 a night these are the small details I'd expect to be addressed -Finally, this one is for the staff, you have a cool radio in the room in 411 but please check the plug socket as is cuts out and you can hear the electricity buzzing when you plug the socket in. Didn't have any noise issues and I would definitely stay again, though I don't think I'd pay the price I did for it again. (Hotel was charging £158.95, Trip.com charged me £183)
