Fantastic location, right on the Royal Mile! I booked the 12-person dorm, which turned out to be a bit too many people for me. Unfortunately, there was also someone with body odor. However, everyone else was very quiet. The common areas were clean and promptly tidied, with no unpleasant smells. This was my first hostel experience, and as a Pisces, I found it a bit challenging, mainly because I'm worried about disturbing others.

We had a lovely stay at the Ibis on the Royal mile. Our room was modern, adequate in size. The temperature was just right and the bed comfortable.
The location was excellent. We stayed at the back of the hotel and wasn’t bothered by a lot of noise. I would definitely recommend and will go back one day. An excellent choice and great value.

We booked a twin-private room. The room was small, so we had to put the luggage under the bed.
If you want your room to be cleaned, then you have to book the room cleaning by scanning a QR code, 1 day before. We did it, but then no one cleaned our room. We told the reception, and they said they didn't receive our request. Hence, we had to re-book for the following day, and we told the reception as well. Only then, our room got cleaning. They cleaning was the basic one, emptied the trash bin, and refilled the toilet tissue. They wouldn't make up your bed.
The hostel is strategically located, but to shorten the length, you have to take the stairs step (around 300m only). If you are with heavy luggage, then it will be around 700m from the train station (wheel-chair access street)

Service was good enough and as per expectations of a big hotel brand. Nothing to complain about.
The only complaint I have is about the amenities. There was no dental kit provided in the room and when requested for, I was asked to come down to the reception to collect it rather than have housekeeping deliver to the room. There was no single use slippers either and I had to pay £5 for it which I felt was pretty excessive for a disposable pair of slippers.. I paid for it anyway since I needed it. The staff were kind about it though and could do nothing as it was hotel policy.
Hope Novotel can review its policies on the provision of these amenities.

Right at the foot of Edinburgh Castle, you can see it just by opening the window. The castle is right up the stone steps across the street. Shopping and dining options are also conveniently located nearby.

Great location at Royal Mile. There are many eateries around and Sainsbury's is just below.
They offered us to stay in an accessible room. The room and bathroom are slightly more spacious than the standard room so it's just nice we have space to dry our umbrellas (rainy days in Edinburgh).
Smooth check in.
Water dripping from the aircond.
Overlooked that the wash basin is a bit low in an accessible room so a bit tough for tall people.
Cold floor, no slippers provided.

Perfect location, offered breakfast and bar as well (though I didn't try), room is large but just a slight issue of the bed. I understand fitting 3 beds is pretty hard, but each level is so short you always bang your head. Overall speaking it's quite good, especially each bed has 2 sockets to use!

The location is indeed great, very close to the station, just up a long flight of stairs. However, the water heater was broken on the day we arrived, but the staff were very proactive and fixed it. On the downside, the soundproofing is poor, and the room isn't very big.

I really enjoyed my four days. Wonderful hotel the team was very friendly and helpful at all times of the day. Great location easy to get to from the Station/airport. Good trams service along Princes Street. Plenty of buses along South Bridge which is a short walk. Enjoyed the spa facilities especially the swimming pool. The lounge near the reception area is a little chilly but a nice spot to relax with a warm drink. Overall a very pleasant stay. Would recommend.
Rooms
Good size room, fantastic shower and products. Bed was very comfortable. It was a tad cold so I requested a blanket which was very snug. Bonus having a fridge and complimentary water nice touch. Tea/coffee try was good but would be great to have some hot chocolate.
Nearby activities
Holyrood Palace and gardens on your doorstep along with great views of Arthur Seat. Five minutes walk to the Royal Mile.
Food and drinks
There is a restaurant and bar in the hotel. I found the food a bit hit and miss to be honest. Breakfast is great with a great choice in food for all palettes. Warm friendly service.

Great
LleonconnieThe room was incredibly spacious, with a separate living room. I'd definitely want to stay here long-term if I visit Scotland again. The room was very quiet, and the living room sofa converts into a bed. All the appliances were high-end brands like Dyson and Smeg. The only downside was the lack of on-site parking. There's an NCP car park under the bridge a bit further down, costing around £25 per night. The hotel is very close to the castle, about a 5-minute walk, and about 10 minutes from the city center. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, which is very convenient.

Great
GGuest UserThe room was decent, the location was great, and the bed was comfortable. However, we were assigned a first-floor room right by the entrance – I'm not sure if this was intentional – and we didn't get a wink of sleep on any of our four nights.
First off, the glass door was broken and couldn't be securely locked, which meant absolutely no soundproofing. We could hear every word pedestrians said on the street. Given its central tourist location, loud pedestrians, particularly intoxicated ones, would pass by until well past midnight, making a lot of noise. Then came the constant banging of doors in the morning. Even more terrifying were the sounds of luggage being dragged and lifted (due to the building's layout, all luggage had to be carried up stairs), which sounded like an earthquake, starting as early as 5 AM. We were utterly sleep-deprived and on edge!
We tried to just tough it out, but by the time we left, our entire family was completely drained.

CCleo.C.Ideal location within budget
I used to study in Edinburgh uni and my student hall is right opposite - that’s why we chose here
The value is pretty good but I won’t give it 10/10 Here are the reasons
1. The towels have fluff coming out all the time
2. Bathroom hand wash sink doesn’t go down properly
3. Shower pressure fairly low
4!! The WiFi!! There’s barely any connection within our room. The 5G got down to 4G on 1-2 bar so even we use our own data is very slow…
The wifi gets way better in the Lobby and in public corridors but who wants to chill in the lobby after a whole day of walking…
My husband got severe dry eye symptoms at the end of the trip (it may not have something to do with the hotel but he wakes up every single night)
The hotel has very good amenities that benefits every member who stays. but within the room i can always figure out something that doesn’t match up the 4star hotel standard things.

GGuest UserSuch an unpleasant experience staying at this hotel. The front desk staff, Pavels, was unprofessional and displayed ****** behavior — treating our group (Chinese) very differently from other guests.
We booked two Superior King rooms with 1.8m beds, but one was significantly smaller (around 1.3–1.5m) and even had a bent toilet seat. This is unacceptable for the category we booked.
The only positives were the polite room service staff and the fresh apples in the lobby.

FFangaodexingkongThe location of the hotel is invincible (the house in the lower right corner of the second picture). Turn right after exiting the Market Street exit of the train station and walk for one minute. You don’t have to worry about carrying large luggage. When you cross the road, you will see Prince Street Park and Waverley Bridge (where the photo was taken). After crossing the bridge, you will see Prince Street. Turn right and walk for 15 minutes to Calton Hill. Turn right and walk for 3 minutes to the Royal Mile. There are many restaurants along the way. It is very close to the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Castle, and the Art Museum. The staff’s service is very good. When they meet people from non-English speaking countries, they will communicate with guests at a very slow speed. It is also very convenient to store luggage. There is also an airport bus at the door of the hotel.

OOllieSFairly average hotel. Not worth the prices they charge.
Emailed reception 3 times before arrival, not one reply.
Room was nice and modern. Bed was comfy and shower was strong. Windows were only single glazed and looked over the train station which meant it was noisy even through the night.
The executive lounge isnt really an executive lounge. Its just the breakfast room. Offering was fairly basic. Coffee machine didnt work much during our stay. On the lower ground floor so no windows. The old lounge upstairs was much better. Clearly cutting back on what they offer to save money.
Breakfast was clearly designed for the American market. Crispy streaky bacon etc. Not what you normally get in the UK. Not the worst breakfast we've had but certainly not up to Hilton standard. Again, coffee machines not switched on so only standard coffee and tea was available, no cappuccino etc.
Wouldn't stay here again. There are many hotels in Edinburgh that offer much better value for the price charged.

GGuest UserRooms were tired, flooring had been badly replaced, fire doors had been cut and had up to 25mm gap below with not fire stop, blinds looked like they were cut with chainsaw, tv was outdated and not very responsive on the remote, no usb sockets any where, doors in shower in ensuite kept falling off, was a leak in the sink in ensuite, beds were ok but not very comfy, single beds kept rolling around the room as were on casters on a laminate floor, put sign up for room service twice but room was not serviced, had to go to reception when we needed to top up the breakfast.
Staff on front of house were very helpful and responsive.

XXinlangcaifucaifThis hotel is on par with a 2-star hotel in China. The breakfast was absolutely dreadful! Renting a car in Edinburgh is expensive, and exceeding the mileage limit is a huge rip-off. The Elephant House is a must-visit for Harry Potter fans. As for the Sichuan restaurant across the street, it was extremely unfriendly to Chinese people. No greetings upon arrival or departure, just stern faces throughout. They didn't even say a word when we paid the bill, let alone a 'thank you'!

GGuest UserMy second stay here
Great location at a good price, in Edinburgh you will be outside most of the day in this great city so you just need a comfortable sleep at a good location which this hotel provides as it's at the tip of the royal mile and only few mins walk to Waverley bridge where you can get the airport express bus and also the train station, rooms have good Balmoral view
Just avoid the corner rooms cuz they have sluggish internet connection
