Apartments in Berlin

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in in Europe. I think I will choose the same hotel again next time I go to Berlin, Germany. Staying in this hotel will give you a Japanese-style feeling and is full of artistic atmosphere. All the receptionists and service staff are very polite and very nice. The location and transportation of the hotel are also very good. It only takes about three to five minutes to walk there, and next to it is the East Berlin Wall with very beautiful pictures, graffiti and artwork.

My son & I had booked the Gold Palais Hotel in Prenzlauer Berg as our base for a 4 night stay culminating in an evening in the Olympiastadium to enjoy a Coldplay concert. We arrived late one Saturday afternoon in early July and parked for a short spell just across the road to the hotel. Check in was easy and managed by two friendly receptionists, a young man from Nepal and a nice young lady from Poland. Both spoke English. They explained the set up including what to do if we came back after 23:00 and the reception was no longer manned. This included having a key to open the side door and an emergency number... just in case. And they offered us the one remaining car park space in the underground parking area, costing 18,00 per 24 hours. Super. We left our car down there and didn't see it again for 4 days which was great. We had a room on the 2nd floor. The first thing we had to do was to go down to reception and ask them to separate the beds converting them from one double to two singles. No problem. The room itself overlooked the busy, and noisy street. We left the window open overnight which, on hindsight wasn't so clever owing to the noise. We should simply have used the air conditioning. Apart from the relatively comfortable beds, the room was very clean and modern. We had a modern desk, chair and large wardrobe with a safe. We didn't make much use of the largish flat screen TV but were happy that there was free WiFi and enough sockets for all our electronic equipment. There was a kettle and enough coffee and tea to keep us happy. I missed a fridge, but OK... The separate bathroom was also ultra clean and modern. I liked the large, walk in shower with two shower heads, including the rainforest one which needed some repairs during our stay. The free bathroom amenities were from the Grown Alchemist. Apart from a vending machine in the reception area there were no other amenities like a breakfast room etc. We took our breakfast across the street in a local cafe and I used the late opening kiosk nearby for purchasing water and other drinks. One evening we came back really late and I had inadvertently forgotten my key. Unfortunately nobody answered the emergency number given. So we resorted to asking for help from a couple of guys lounging on their balcony on the 1st floor. They saved us from a night sleeping on the streets... All in all, we enjoyed our stay in this very new hotel. Once they've ironed out some of the things mentioned above this will be an even greater place to stay.

Great hotel in a fantastic location, walking distance to most of the sites of amazing Berlin. Loads of restaurants nearby as well as the train station just across the road and if you travel light access to the airport too. As a light sleeper, I requested a room facing the inner courtyard, and yes it was perfectly quiet :) Just remember, any request is subject to availability, lots of light sleepers out there! Our bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was spacious with loads of hot water. The staff were friendly and helpful, again, really appreciated our earlier check-in after an extremely early flight from Oslo. They have a great system in place, no housekeeping= free drink from the bar :) Breakfast was delicious but as we stayed 5 nights, some changes in the foods would have been appreciated. Only downside....there was a problem with our safe....staff member wasn't able to fix it....so let's play hide our valuables!!! Air conditioner similarly had a problem that kept the temperature too cool....solution.....portable heater!!

Great location for transport options (train direct from airport, and we got a bus to Dresden from right outside the hotel) and central city attractions - including only 15 minutes walk to Museum Island. The services and amenities were not the best given this is a Radisson - the staff were quite friendly (let us check in slightly early) but as an actual paying hotel guest, the hotel will charge you 2 euro per piece of luggage to store it for a couple of hours, it costs 6 euro to access the hotel roof terrace to see the city views, and as a hotel policy the coffee isn’t restocked daily in the room (you can get your daily replacements but you have to go to reception yourself). Room was clean enough but a bit dated/tired especially the bathroom fit out. Hotel was fine overall but I think it’s a stretch to call it a 4 star.

The Hotel is excellent and the Rooms are great, but they serve the worst Breakfast I ever had in Germany. Poor selection of everything, no fruits at all (for the price....), pastry like from wax, ”sunny-side up eggs” like from wax, scrabled eggs like from plastic, sausages burned from one side, undercooked from the other. Bacon had the same diagnose.. I have complained @ main Breakfast Chef, he sincerely had no idea what was wrong with the food = no cooking skills at all. Similar was the dinner.. undercooked meat, mushy overgrilled vegetables not edible at all. We complained, but again no response so we had to eat at McDonalds .. Terrible Food

This hotel has had a revamp and is now called the Art Hotel, Park Plaza. There is another Park Plaza nearby…..we ended up there first! So don’t get confused!! Once you find this hotel….we arrived on the day of a national strike… it’s fab. Ignore the journey planner…. This hotel is a less than 10 min walk from the western end of the U1 line. The room we had was on 5th floor on a quite busy street, but it was so quiet we didn’t realise it until we looked out of the window the following morning. The bed and pillows were so comfortable, a great night sleep was had by us both. Shower was a big rainfall type with a smaller head shower head option if you wanted. Complimentary Elemis shower gel, hand wash, as well as body lotion. Breakfast was worth every penny as part of your B&B option. Otherwise it’s €18 for a full option or €5 for coffee and a croissant in the bar. Breakfast was fresh, pastries, cheese, meats, toast, mushrooms, sausage, bacon, pancakes, cereals, yoghurts; you could make your own fresh juice from fresh veggies & fruits. Coffee was excellent (I was told)…. I took my own teabags as I am very fussy, and made great tea. There is a spectacular hot water urn……that is very ornate and was awesome. Staff were multilingual and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they were very insightful about the local area, and the available public transport options. I would highly recommend this hotel which has pop art throughout. We are planning to head back to visit Berlin again and we will most certainly stay here again.

The location is extremely advantageous. It is located in Potsdamer Platz in the center of Berlin, so the safety factor is very high (unlike East Berlin and other places where it is very chaotic). It is a one-person trip! Highly recommend this place; you can walk to the Berlin Philharmonic Hall and Brandenburg after saving. Famous attractions include the Gate and the Berlin Film Museum. The room area is very large, starting at 40m². We recommend the king bed room with a view. The window faces the main street and the scenery and lighting are very good. Breakfast quality is very good!

Just completed a five night stay at this hotel and had a great experience. The staff is extremely knowledgeable regarding the surrounding area and Berlin in general. My room was wonderful and the breakfast superb. The executive lounge was well stocked and the staff helpful. Highly recommend this centrally located hotel for your next visit.

On checking in, we were assigned a room, went to our and it had somebody else's suitcase in it. We went back to the reception and got it sorted. But as two tourists who didn't speak the lingo, we were lucky to have a German friend with us to help. However, the staff seemed unconcerned about the error, indicating this might happen as not as much of a one off error as you might like to think. Our friend was also told we were lucky to be given another room as the hotel was overbooked, and we could easily have been told to go elsewhere. With this in mind, I'd recommend not paying in advance, as we don't know how easy it difficult it might have been to get a refund in that situation, especially as we'd used a booking agent not direct. Thankfully the second room we were given was nice, spacious, clean and comfortable but we did feel nervous that someone else might be allocated our room when we were out. That didn't happen, as far as we know. The hotel is conveniently located for access to the city centre, close to various train stations a short walk away and a selection of local shops and restaurants. The breakfast was excellent! Didn't use the gym facilities but they looked good. The hotel bar was well stocked and friendly, comfortable indoor and outdoor seating although it did seem to close early.

The breakfast was excellent. I drink tea a lot and there were a variety of tea I could choose and I could choose to brew a cup or a pot of tea. They served different kind of eggs, including omelets. The room is very clean and well equipped with coffee maker and kettle.
