Holiday Apartments in Tokyo

Ascott Marunouchi can easily be considered one of Tokyo's best serviced apartments. Its prime location in Otemachi is perfect for business travelers, offering convenient access to Tokyo Station and a plethora of dining options nearby. The hotel itself is quite upscale, boasting luxurious decor, well-designed lighting for the evening, and comfortable beds and pillows. The internet connection is also excellent, and the service is top-notch. With amenities like an oven, induction cooktop, washing machine, and water purifier, it's also ideal for longer stays.

We traveled with a group of five. The apartment was quite spacious for the number of people, very clean, with a balcony and a traditional-style room. It had everything necessary for a large group: two showers, toiletries for washing and bathing, a washing machine with detergent, shoe shine equipment, an iron, a small ironing board, and other household items. It's located a 5-minute walk from Asakusa Temple and about a 10-15-minute walk to the nearest subway station. There are several 7-11 stores, cafes, and bars nearby. The only downside is that you have to carry luggage up a rather small staircase to the 3rd floor, but overall, it's tolerable.

I really liked the keyless entry system; no more worrying about forgetting my room key. The accommodation was clean, and it had a bathtub and a washing machine. The bathroom even had built-in heating and a dehumidifier, which made drying clothes after washing a breeze. The hotel's location is excellent, with very convenient access to transportation. Plus, there are plenty of convenience stores and restaurants nearby, so you never have to worry about finding something to eat.

Prime Location, Peaceful Setting Tucked just a short stroll from Shinagawa Station, this guesthouse is brilliantly located for exploring Tokyo. Despite being so close to a major transport hub, the neighborhood is remarkably quiet and residential. Finding the place was a breeze – clear instructions and a distinctive exterior made it instantly recognizable. 2. Thoughtful, Characterful Interior Design This is no cookie-cutter hostel. The owner has poured genuine creativity into every corner – vintage posters, handmade handpicked furniture, and an artsy blend of retro and modern elements. I booked a single bed this time, but unlike the typical 10-square-meter hotel boxes in Tokyo, my space felt genuinely roomy. I could stretch out, lay open my suitcase, and still have floor space to do morning stretches – a rare luxury for solo travelers. 3. Fully Equipped – With Surprising Extras The amenities go way beyond basics. A full kitchen with cookware, a washing machine. But the real delight? The owner’s personal toy collection scattered around – retro figures, board games, and quirky knickknacks to tinker with. And the crown jewel: a vintage record player with a curated vinyl selection, plus a compact DJ setup. I spent one evening spinning tracks with the host personal collections – an unforgettable Tokyo memory. 4. The Host – Warm, Witty, and Genuinely Sociable The owner is the heart of this place. They greet every guest like an old friend, share honest food recommendations for the local alleyways (I tried three of his tips – all phenomenal), and even bring their little dog down to the common area in some evenings. We’d gather around, sip drinks, chat about life, and laugh at their stories. It’s that rare blend of hospitality and authenticity that you can’t book – it just happens. Who Would Love This Place? Solo adventurers who crave connection but value their own space. Digital nomads needing room to work and relax. Music lovers, design nerds, and anyone tired of sterile hotel chains. If you’re traveling alone in Japan and actually want to make friends – over a shared meal, a vinyl crackle, or a dog’s gentle nudge – this is your spot. Highly, highly recommended.

This is just my impression of the room I stayed in. If you're just staying there, there's no problem overall. It feels like an apartment-type hotel. The only things I noticed were 1) the cleaning was a bit poor (there were a few hairs in the bathroom, there was quite a bit of dust in the bedroom, and there were still ice cubes in the freezer) 2) I don't recommend the shampoo (this may have only happened in the room I stayed in, but I think shampoo is especially uncomfortable for women. You might want to bring your own.) These are the only two things I can think of. There are no amenities, so you have to bring your own. There was a Panasonic hair dryer. There was a kitchen, so basic kitchen utensils were provided. (There was also a refrigerator and freezer.) There was a washing machine, powder detergent, and fabric softener. There was an extension cord. The common areas such as the entrance and stairs are a bit narrow, so it may be a bit difficult to bring large carry-on bags. The cleaning and amenities (including shampoo) were a bit poor, but other than that I had no particular problems, so I thought it was pretty good value for money.

Hygiene: The room was clean, but there was a strong, distinctive body odor, reminiscent of Middle Eastern countries. It could have been cleaned more thoroughly; I accidentally dropped something under the bed and later found a grape there. Location: It's just a convenient 5-minute walk to Ningyocho. Although it's a residential area, there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Service: The hotel communicated with us via email throughout our stay. They were also proactive in trying to resolve an issue with the washing machine not turning on, though I eventually figured out I just needed to plug it in myself 😓. Facilities: The facilities are excellent. The kitchen is well-equipped with cooking utensils, and there's also a washing machine, shoe cabinet, and wardrobe – it really felt just like home.

This guesthouse is conveniently located near several convenience stores, perfect for late-night snacks. It's also very close to Rokugōte Station on the Keikyū Line, making it easy to get to and from Haneda Airport. If you're looking to do some shopping, Keikyū Kawasaki Station is just one stop away. The room itself comes with a washing machine and a separate wet and dry bathroom.

I'd like to point out the apartment's excellent location: the building is right next to the metro exit. The view from the balcony is excellent. The neighborhood is very quiet, with plenty of convenience stores nearby, a 10-minute walk to the SkyTower shopping center, and plenty of nice restaurants nearby. It's interesting that when you step outside, it's very quiet, but in the apartment with the open balcony, you can hear a lot of traffic noise. There was enough space for three of us, but the fold-out sofa isn't very comfortable. We used a mattress, an extra blanket, and a blanket underneath ourselves to soften it, but overall, we didn't have any problems, such as back pain. The apartment includes an iron, a microwave, and other kitchen appliances. There's a washing machine, but it wasn't plugged in, so we didn't bother fixing it ourselves. There was a hair dryer, but it was very weak and dusty. When you turn it on, it starts to smell burnt, so we didn't use it. The apartment itself is in good condition, but it feels like it could quickly become too old. Aside from the hair dryer, there was a dirty sheet in the linen set. We informed the owner, who apologized and offered to send a new set, but we only found another sheet. We also mentioned that there would be three of us staying, but the ”sofa” wasn't made, so we had to make it ourselves.

We booked for a stay for 10 days. Location wise its about a 5 min walk from Mikawashima station and 12 mins from Nippori Station. Only downside is that to get to Mikawashima you had to take the Joban line, which you had to change trains at either Ueno or Nippori. There is a 7/11 downstairs and a supermarket downstairs which makes buying snacks or drinks convenient. There was no elevator so expect to haul luggage up the stairs, best to request a level one or two room. I got a level 2 room which was adequate for us as it wasnt that much of a climb up. The room was small (expected of a tokyo apartment). The kitchen has plates, cups, pots, pans, kettle, a stove and a microwave. Great for cooking something or heating up a meal from the 7/11 downstairs. There was also a mini fridge to store drinks and such. Our room included 2 beds and a TV, along with a clothing rack and a wardrobe with an iron and ironing board inside it. One of the beds was squeaking alot when moving around in the bed, it wasnt very bad but it got abit annoying when moving around while sleeping at night. Clothing rack was placed right above our beds which i understand was due to the limited space. There are alternative places to hang clothes such as aforementioned wardrobe and in the toilet. The toilet included a smart toilet which had a bidet and heated seats, perfect for the cold weather. There was a washing machine inside, great for those on long stays. There was also a shower and bath included. Bath was pretty small but not surprising as Japanese bath were known to be small. Amenities included shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hairdryer, washing detergent and toothbrush set. You would also need to sort out your trash which was labelled nicely in english for us to understand. Overall for the price of this apartment, it was a great place with great amenities, better than what we had expected. Would definitely recommend.
