The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon

The Standard Hotel, Bangkok: Not your standard but of exacting exalted standards. I’m a loyalist to Standard Hotel LA Downtown. It has a bit of an irreverent and non-conformist verve - attracting a gamut of characters from the ultra pretentious to the authentically creative or artistic types. It is flashy, LGBT embracing, unapologetic, over the top, form defying, stylish, excessive, extravagant, wanton and bursting with character. Hence it will always be a magnet for characters and drug-fuelled-all-nighter parties but you can expect a scrubbed-clean version in BKK. I flew to Bangkok specifically for the new Standard Hotel - I’ve been dying to check this out. It absolutely doesn’t disappoint. You do get hordes of pretentious IG-ers or alleged annoying influencers doing their 3 hour shoots. But if you got a creative eye like I do and genuinely appreciate solid architecture, offbeat interior styling and intricate art pieces then this place is heaven for you. The style is a mash-up of the most daring and eclectic seemingly mismatched pieces that miraculously come woven together to create a signature style. It is so incredible. There’s no ordinary here - the commanding ceiling art piece outside The Standard Grill restaurant is so technically remarkable I stood there to drink up all the details. It’s so layered here - I feel that the vanity of the superfluous influencers robbed the true meticulous design considerations. I can go at lengths about the styling but I’ll just state that you should deconstruct every element and wow your senses. Everything is modestly sized - pool. Steam room, restaurant, bars, etc. Restaurants are an experience unlike any other - Ojo is mex glam meets Jetson futuristic posh. Tease is a popup fairy tale afternoon tea delight. Mott 32 is chinois haute glam. Standard Grill is tailored classiness. The Parlor is a riot of styles. They are all so exciting. What’s even better is the incredible service. There are some hits and misses but the staff genuinely strive to please. Tina who is busy darting around at the reception, lobby and everywhere is saccharine sweet and effervescent. We nearly missed our flight when the sky emptied and no cabs were found. She so very coolly and humorously handled our mini crisis with such panache, we were so impressed. Look past the superficial influencers or pretentious wannabes. Come and blow your senses out with an experience you should bucket list. #eatstylishtravelstylish
Evergreen Laurel Hotel Bangkok

Evergreen Laurel Hotel Bangkok

Silom/Sathorn Bangkok|0.83km from AIA Sathorn Tower
The hotel looks modern from outside but beautiful classy style inside. Rooms are quite small but have elegance and are equiped with everything you need and very clean. VERY comfy bed and no noise or door slamming like in so many other hotels. Aircon can be adjusted and is not loud. Pool area has a small pool and very little sunchairs. But there is hardly any sun as the surrounding buildings often prevent the sun from shining to the pool area. Staff is very friendly (except for one (male with glasses) night auditor at reception (night from 1.-2. january, 2024) who wouldn' t even check capacity in the computer but instantly lied to my face stating to be fully booked when (at midnight) I asked in a friendly way about a late checkout for only 1 single hour the next morning. Even when I showed him I could still book 10 or more rooms on different hotel apps, he still wouldn't check his computer and insisted on his story and didn't move a finger stating not being able to grant a late check out. That's a complete no-go for a hotel like that, the more as I stayed with them several nights, and really ruins the friendly and hard work of his collegues who go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Maybe the management should have a serious word with him or at least teach him how to lie better... ). Breakfast is a lovely buffet with western and asian food (450 THB if not included). Location is a 10 min walk to BTS station or to Silom Rd.

Montien Hotel Surawong Bangkok

Silom/Sathorn Bangkok|1.24km from AIA Sathorn Tower
I had the pleasure of staying at The Montien for 3 weeks 2 months ago when on a company-booked trip. My room and bed were extremely comfortable and spacious, with plenty of natural light and unobstructed views, quality amenities including a Nespresso machine. The Montien decor is modern, Thai style and beautiful. The breakfast buffet is bountiful, with plenty of variety. Pierre Pelletier, the Area General Manager and his team went above and beyond to ensure my stay was outstanding! Then this month when my family and I planned a vacation to Bangkok I picked this hotel as our base. The hotel is conveniently located for easy access to the sky and underground trains, many must-go-to restaurants, cafes, Siam Paragon, temples, Chinatown, night walks and more. We were welcomed with incredible 5-star Thai hospitality. Special mention to Khun Nu, her front desk team and night manager Khun Jew for handling flight delays, airport transfers and arranging pick up of lost luggage, Khun Tik for his world-class warm welcomes, Max’s regular assistance and taxi coordination, the ever-helpful and polite bellmen, Beer remembering our morning coffee preferences, Kae at Ruenton restaurant for looking after us at dinners, friendly Tanya at the lobby bar, the housekeeping team for keeping our 3 rooms impeccable and everyone who made our Bangkok vacation so memorable! It felt like our home away from home and we enjoyed our time here so much!

On this trip to Bangkok, he chose a hotel with a beautiful view of the city from the pool. The hotel is located in the Sathorn business district on a quiet, quiet soi Saint Louise 3. Perhaps it was once a 4* hotel, but now it looks on a three*. The hotel got to the Sky Train on its own, went out at BTS Surasak station. From the station to the hotel about 10 minutes walk (if you know where to go). You can also get to the hotel from another BTS Chong Nonsi station, go about the same. From the busy route to the 500-600 metres. The hotel has a free service - delivery from the hotel to BTS Surasak. The hotel is quiet and quiet, it will be suitable for both business people and family couples, young people and older people. I was met by a girl at the resepshne, speaking pretty well English. I paid cash, which I advise everyone to do, as when the settlement takes a deposit -2 thousand bahts. If you pay with a card, the deposit will also be removed from the card. Just when you leave, if you pay in cash, the amount will be returned immediately and the map will have to wait long. I booked a studio room (2 rooms + kitchen) on the 4th floor. There is an elevator in the hotel. Windows and a small balcony went out to the private sector. In the room: the kitchen was equipped with everything necessary: stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishes, washing machine, e. teapot + tea and coffee set. The living room had a soft corner sofa, a desk, chairs, chestnuts, flat tv on the wall. The central bedroom was a wide soft bed with clean pastel clothes. Next to the bed were 2 bedside lockers. On the other side of the bed on the wall was a second flat tv. Next to it was a large closet. Bathroom: shower, bath, large sink, toilet and cosmetic facilities, fan. There was separate toilet room with normal toilet. The hotel is my seven-storey, the roof has a pool with a beautiful view of the city. There is a sauna. There are five lying places around the pool. The pool is not very deep, there are 2 small elephant fountains in the torso, plants grow in the corner. I want to advise if you are going to go to the hotel by taxi, it is better to print the name and address of the house in Thai. There are sangteo rides past the hotel. If you leave the hotel and turn to the left, about 70 m. will be 7/eleven. And if you turn right at the exit, you will pass 50 meters on the opposite side of the ATM Government Housing Bank. Minuses: It is hard to find the first time. Deposit 2000 baht. The number fund is no longer the first freshness. The staff I communicated with is kind, so the hotel advises for a short period.

Ascott Sathorn Bangkok
4.5/5293 Reviews
Silom/Sathorn
Ascott Sathorn is in a wonderful location, so convenient with skyrail outside the door but this comes with it’s negatives, the hotel is SO noisy throughout the night, I sleep with white noise and the constant rumble, music and sirens weren’t masked by the white noise, for me this is such a downside and for that reason I wouldn’t return back to this hotel… I did ask for a quiet room and I wouldn’t consider this quiet but maybe it is compared to rooms on a lower floor! Pool and breakfast opening times are really good, we liked how early we could go for a swim! (Or eat)!!! Service was generally okay, check in was slow and I was pushed into signing up for some rewards despite mentioning my husband already had an account, and was told we’d receive two drinks but never did… Apart from that everything was great!
Marvin Suites Hotel

Silom/Sathorn
The Marvin Suite Hotel is very simple, very clean, but can't be said to be very ordinary. Living here is like living in a small apartment, the room will be cleaned every day, and the clean towels will be changed every day. CCTV can be seen everywhere, so no one comes in and out, and no staff is seen in the lobby. I like the sense of security, I stayed here for about 10 days. Very worth it. (They were painting the room when I lived here, but this didn’t bother me)
ASAI Bangkok Sathorn

I love how ASAI Sathorn is very well located, in the middle of bustling BKK but surrounded by residential area which makes it perfect to unwind, great restaurants around, coffee shops and only few minutes away by foot to Silom area + friendly hotel staffs such a great bonus! The room and the overall hotel ambiance is simple yet chic, major win, especially for a solo traveler like myself!

5-min walk to St Louis station, very convenient if you are looking to stay close to a BT’s station. Surprised to find it’s a walkable distance to one of the restaurants I’d booked. The complimentary BT’s one-day pass is a very appreciable gesture of goodwill. Unbeatable! The hotel is new and so are the amenities. One of the front desk staff lady is particularly sweet though not all are as passionate. Generally all staff is helpful. Such team makes valuable asset to the hotelZ Failed to open the door with the keycards and went down two times to get the problem solved. It was found out I was given a keycard of another room but it was a small problem, staff are friendly and helpful in getting the problem solved. Toothbrushes were not provided on the first day and I bought one myself, then the next day toothbrushes were refilled, should hv asked the frontdesk before buying …

The Heritage Sathorn Suite Hotel

Silom/Sathorn
Hotel was not difficult to locate and was at a quiet street near the Main Street. The Hotel have obviously seen better days but was told it was a new management and will undergo major renovations especially to the dining area where it will be fully aircon. Room was simple yet spacious. Breakfast was ala Carte but decently portioned. The Signature Coffee is a must try. Hope to come back next time to a newer version.
