I would recommend the hotel if folks are visiting the north shore for a few days and can visit the Polynesian Cultural Center, conveniently located next door, more than once during their stay since it's hard to see all of the PPC in just one day. It's also located right across from a beach. I think the hotel is undergoing renovations, as the lobby and The Bistro were not open when we stayed on 6/8/24. The hotel has been open since 2015, and I think new carpet was just put down throughout the entire hotel, as it looks/feels/smells like it's brand new. The room is nice & clean and beds very comfy. Pricing is on par w/ the Waikiki hotels located on the Waikiki beach ***** but not at the Waikiki *****, so if you don't plan to stay in Waikiki due to the crowds, then this is the place to stay (there aren't many other hotel options on the North Shore).
The property looks nicer on photos than in real life. Ocean villa number 120 has no ocean view at all unless you stand on your tippy toes on the veranda. We were threatened with USD50.00 if we arrive more than 30 minutes late for our meeting with the on-site manager and skipped going to a store for that reason. The manager never showed up - just sent us a text message. This would have been fine had we not been warned to not be late. After paying USD 350.00 cleaning fee we were expected to take the trash out supposedly to prevent the villa from getting infested with bugs. They knew when we were leaving so they could not make sure they clean the trash out fast?! In addition, gym is written as being available but it actually is not as this villa is privately owned. Do yourself a favor and book through the hotel. And, for the life of me - I do not understand all the raves about this place. Beach, pool - everything is average. I feel genuinely sorry for any couple spending tons of money to spend their honeymoon here. The value for the money is not there.
How good is the hotel service attitude? The second floor of the room I just gave me was on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, but it was blocked by the hotel platform. I couldn't see anything. I was given a free upgrade to the pool view and I could see some sea and mountain views.
