The Royal Hotel

Great location. Friendly staff. Clean and tidy hotel. Great breakfast. 4 of us had the eggs royals poached eggs with hollandaise and smoked salmon on breakfast muffins. One had the full English which was huge. Sausage egg hash brown baked beans tomato and more. Was a lovely breakfast stayed one night and room was quiet and comfortable. 5 of us stayed using one twin and one family room with double and single beds. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel and parking just behind which is great too

Have stayed here quite a few times, hence why we come back. Stayed here for my husbands surprise birthday party at the Greek taverna. The food was amazing and so much of it. Rooms are lovely and fresh and breakfast also very tasty and a good choice menu. Staff are very welcoming and nothing to much for them. The owner Jason is also very friendly. Will defo going back very soon.

We are a family of 4 and we stayed at this lovely hotel on the 22nd of October. I have often visited Clacton and I am so glad that we finally got to stay here. The staff are very friendly and they made my sons birthday very special. The hotel and restaurant is full of charm and character and in such a fantastic location, right on the seafront. Thanks for a great stay and we can't wait to return! The Watts family.

Christmas Eve to Boxing day. Very disappointed as nothing Christmas in the room like a little tinsel. Short staff so trolley in the hall to help yourself to clean towels etc. No breakfast available Christmas day. A very nice young lady who I can not fault called Dani did her best with cornflakes and milk to our room. She was a gem. Jacuzzi was new and not as good as old one. No lights on it. Not very relaxing.. could not sleep as club on Christmas eve until nearly 3am. Restaurant Christmas day very expensive. £114 for 2 soup. Roast pots and veg for a child and stuff pepper and veg for adult. One tea one coffee one juice! Only 2 cracker for 3 people. The cook was very nice and none of the complaints are his fault. The veggie option was not even on menu. The lift was dirty with rubbish in it for 2 days. It seemed over Christmas they were very short staffed. We had no nice swan towels on the bed. No toothpaste packs as in your photo. Nothing at all. It was a complete waist of £400! We have been in the past to this hotel and been pleased but we will not be returning again. Expensive. Nil value for money. Noisy and lift very tiny. I know the lift belongs to someone on the second floor but in line with disability discrimination act disabled people should be able to access the rooms in the hotel safely. I had to take the footplates off my wheel chair and my husband had to take the stairs as not enough lift room. Definitely not disability friendly.

AVOID AT ALL COST… staff rude asked me to send email about complaints and got a shirty response from the manager so wasn’t interested in my feedback …no hot water , noisy rooms especially from upstairs apartments smashed glass on doors and lift save your money and book somewhere nice

Booked Empress Jacuzzi room. Went 3 weeks prior to check,look at room, as local. Staff friendly+ helpful. Room,jacuzzi+wet room immaculate+stunning. Comfie huge bed. Balcony a bonus.Missed breakie-had lie in. Loved it. Will book again

Me and my daughter arrived home today Friday the 23rd. We originally booked for the Monday for 2 nights but after the 1st night we loved the place so my daughter asked her dad if she could stay another 2 nights. We stayed in room 106 the jacuzzi room, it was spacious, clean, had a lovely balcony and view right opposite the pier. The bed was huge and the tele was even bigger with loads of movies to choose from. The Turkish restaurant joined on to the hotel served lovely food. The heater in the room made it lovely and warm within a few minutes and it also had air conditioning too. I phoned down a few times to reception and they had drinks bought up for us. All the staff are lovely and polite and couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome. We’ll definitely be returning again and recommending to others.

Lovely stay here. Great location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had breakfast and dinner here and both were so good! Rooms are nicely decorated and we had a balcony. Would definitely stay again when in Clacton. Parking at the back of the hotel.

Top quality hotel to stay in, extremely clean, good breakfast too. Will definitely stay again. One word which is out of the hotels control is there can be noise from the front, if you sleep early or it bothers you ask for a room at all the rear. But all in all very impressed and a good price.
