Hotels in Cologne City Center, Cologne

The hotel is an easy walk (just a few minutes) from the railway station. It is about two minutes walk to the cathedral which you can see (and hear) from the hotel: the bells chime quite loudly at about 08:00 am and other times. Rooms are a decent size and the beds are very comfortable. It is clean and in the room there is a safe, tv, bathroom with a shower (that oddly has no shower curtain or screen - the floor gets quite wet). Breakfast is good and includes the normal range of hot and cold foods from croissants, toast, bacon, egg, sausage, buns, cereals, hams, salamis, cheeses, coffee, tea, hot water and some really very nice fruit juices (some of the nicest I have tasted in a hotel). The staff in the dining area were really pleasant and friendly. The reception staff were a little more varied but polite and efficient enough. Outside the hotel doesn't look that much but it is generally pleasant and a great base inside. Next door are some convenience store types of shops and a kebab house that I tried and it was exactly the same as back home. McDonalds is just across the road, if that is your thing. We walked to all of the Christmas markets (where we did most of our eating) and around the city centre and down to the Rhine. All are in easy walking distance. There is a bag room where you can leave your bags upon checkout and come back for them later. The security of that was a little lax as people just walked in from the street and took their bags. I went to the reception and told them I was taking mine and the lady looked as if to say, ”ok fine.” No checks. There is also little checking of people walking in from the street and just going upstairs but the doors on the rooms were pretty secure. The lighting is not great in the room and the lights around the hotel are seemingly hanging from their connections. Overall it was a great base from which to explore the city and get to and from. good night's sleep - despite the bells and a good breakfast. I would stay again for a short break in the city.

Things went okay at check-in, I don't speak the original language myself and wanted to speak English, which was not appreciated by the look on the face. We also received an incorrect route description to the room, we had to walk all the way to the back of the hotel to take the elevator, but it was next to the reception. Furthermore, the hotel was very outdated and the roof was leaking because it was raining and I got drops on my head. The hotel room was outdated, except for the shower, which was very luxurious. The room had good hygiene and was clean. The location was very excellent!

Service: The blond beauty at the front desk is very beautiful and the service is very patient. She translated for me even if she didn’t speak English👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. I should have my contact information😀😀😀 The hotel is very close to the train station, Cologne Cathedral, and the commercial street, which meets my needs.

It's only a 10-minute walk from the main train station. It's very convenient to go everywhere. There's a supermarket, subway, and tram downstairs, and it's a 2-minute walk to the shopping street. The location and the price are very good👍 The room is quite satisfactory and very clean. Disposable slippers are also provided (it's not as environmentally friendly as Europe, so don't have high expectations for slippers) There are many restaurants nearby, as well as a Vietnamese pho shop (3 minutes' walk away). It's also very convenient to take an Uber downstairs. It can be said to be highly recommended.

Definitely one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in and the best hotel from Accor Hotels. I had accidentally booked the wrong dates for my stay. As soon as I realised it, I contacted the hotel. The staff helped me to change my reservation dates. While on my trip, due to the strikes in France and problems with the train connections I had to postpone my meeting online. I sent an email to request to check in early since I will be having my meeting at 1 p.m. Ms Wulff made the necessary arrangements prior to my arrival. On my arrival I was able to check in early and able to proceed with my online meeting. Without her help I would not be able to conduct my meeting. On the next day, I had another online meeting. Her colleague made the necessary arrangements so that the housekeeping team could get the room cleaned before lunch and my next online appointment. Till date I have stayed in a number of hotels from the Accor Hotels group. In comparison to M Gallery am Konzerthaus in Wien, Hotel Mondial am Dom in Cologne exceeds my expectations. Professionalism The staff at the reception were not only friendly and good at what they are doing, they are also willing to help and went an extra mile to make things possible. I would not have been able to get my work done if they did not help me. Even when checking out, the staff was professional and showed interest to assist customers whenever they dan. Splendid Location Situation a few minutes walk from the train station and the main city area, is this hotel definite one of the most strategic location in Cologne. View of the Cathedral I managed to get a glimpse of the cathedral from my room. Dinner I had dinner at the hotel restaurant. It was not only affordable, the service was impeccable. The waiter even suggested where I could sit so that I can get the best view of the area. Awesome! I would like to thank the remarkable staff for making my stay in Köln memorable und unforgettable. Ich habe bei der Buchung das falsche Datum eingegeben und musste meine Buchung ändern. Die Mitarbeiterin. hat mir geholfen meine Buchung zu ändern. Wegen Streiks und Probleme mit Deutsch Bahn musste ich meine Termine verschieben. Ich habe das Hotel gefragt ob ich früher einchecken kann um mein Termin online wahr zu nehmen. Frau Wullf hat alles für mich arrangiert damit ich meinen Termin online fortsetzen kann. Am nächsten Tag habe ich auch einen Termin online. Der Kollege von Frau Wulff hat mit dem Housekeeping-Team koordiniert damit das Zimmer von 13 Uhr fertig gereinigt ist. Dadurch könnte ich meinen Termin um 14 Uhr wahrnehmen. In diesem Hotel sind die Mitarbeiter:innen nicht nur freundlich sondern auch hilfsbereit. Diese Motivation ist leider eine Seltenheit auch bei den Luxus-Marken von Accor. I enjoyed staying in Hilton . Nice view and good location. The staff was very kind and helpful. If I have a chance to go back to Cologne again , I would stay in Hilton again.

Sadly this is NOT a 5 star hotel and I don’t even know how they got that rating. They may have been at one point but unfortunately my experience there was not of a 5 star hotel. The staff was very friendly however the hotel itself was very underwhelming. Upon arrival there was a paper stuck on the elevator saying there will be no water after midnight for the next 3 days . We then got a room on the 6th floor which had a nice view of the street, however at 8am in the morning we were woken up by drilling sounds from a floor above us and when we complained to the staff they said there was nothing they could do about it, we then finally got moved to the second floor, but the furniture in that room was so old rusty and outdated in my opinion. My boyfriend wanted to go take a nice swim in the pool that is advertised on their website only to realize that using it is an extra charge as the pool does not belong to the hotel. The pillows we had were also very bad, usually you get a set of about 2-3 pillows in 5 star hotels but we only got 1 flat pillow each which was very uncomfortable to sleep on. Sadly the only good thing about this hotel is that it’s very close to everything, about 5 minutes to the main station and the supermarket is right across the street as are most restaurants. The Rhein river is also quite close. I believe the hotel has a lot of improvement to do but it seems they are not even considering improvement any time soon. After the not so great experience we had we thought maybe they might offer some sort of compensation but nothing was offered. Once again this is really not a 5 star hotel so don’t be fooled.

After a long hard journey we had a pleasant enough checkin, but after having paid a lot extra for booking first class rooms, we were told that the first class lounge was closed. I asked what was the point in paying sky much more for first class rooms, and I was told the rooms have coffee machines. For the price difference I could have gone and bought coffee machines, but frankly I am not interested in a coffee machine, I paid for the rooms so we could use the lounge, so I felt ripped off. My room was boiling hot, and the air conditioning does not work. They sent someone to the room, but they could not get is below 26 degrees. They changed my room to a much smaller one, but it was a bit cooler. I came back to my room having left the aircon on all day and all evening. It was still very warm. I chose this hotel as it is described as air conditioned. It is not air conditioned at all. I could not sleep, it was too warm. I called reception and they brought me a fan. I am so disappointed to have not had what I expected, and most annoyingly the room was described as air conditioned when all it really has is a noisy fan. I should ask for partial refund for our two rooms, they were not worth the money. Then, the service at the bar was terrible. We ordered a round of drinks, it took more than half an hour to bring three beers. Not busy, just really slow.

The hotel is right next to the Cologne Cathedral, and there is a great restaurant downstairs, next to the train station, the traffic is very convenient. The room you stayed in was very spacious and you could spread out your suitcase at will. Drinks in the minibar are free and good value for money. The reception staff were friendly and happy to answer questions. The bellmen are also friendly. Parents stayed very satisfied.
