Nice hotel with very frendly People. Nice food and big room. I like the style of the building very much. The breakfast was great and our room was cleaned every day. In the basement there are possibilitys to dry your ski's and shoes. There is also a nice Irish pub.

We had one night here en route to the south, but would like to come back and explore the area further. We thought that the room rate and breakfast were excellent value, particularly for Switzerland. The hotel has been well maintained to a good 4 star level (it's a 5 star review, but for a 4 star hotel). Nice, old fashioned decor (1890s Belle Epoque meets 1980s), lovely people at reception, a grand room for the restaurant (not used) and for breakfast) and very comfortable beds. We will return!

On a European motorcycle tour, stopped by chance in Meiringen, & by great fortune, stayed a night in this wonderful hotel. Reminiscent of opulence and grandeur from another time, the welcome raised me high, the room exceeded expectation. I'm still smiling thinking of the delicious dinner and breakfast, & the view of the Reichenbach Falls from my window. The camaraderie in the Green Harp Bar will stay with me. The best hotel I've ever stayed in. I hope to return!

Rooms were tired and badly need updating. Electrics we’re verging on unsafe.

The view and location in the village are the best part of the room we staying in. Meiringen is very walkable, even to the gorge and falls. The breakfast was extraordinary. They had anything you'd ever want for breakfast, and, an espresso machine that actually did a pretty good job. There was no heat or AC, they said it was central. Probably not turned on though due to the season. Ok, BUT not when it’s 85°F/30°C inside the room. Very nice outside though. No matter, we thought we’d open the windows. Except then flies and gnats came flying in because of no screens. There were 4 receptacles, but, with only 4 operable plugs. Sounds ok until you realize the available outlets are by the desk (perfect!), in back of the bed, in back of a couch, and next to the door at switch height all with stuff plugged into them. That left only one functional outlet out of each receptacle at each location. So…we couldn’t plug in chargers, laptop, and the fan they gave us, practically. Plus the fan wouldn’t do any good behind the couch, behind the bed, or next to the entrance hanging upside down. Refrigerator didn’t work well. It essentially put out an excessive amount of heat just to cool items barely below room temperature. Also, apparently the hotel wanted a photo op of the hotel with all the lights on, which adds more heat to the room, or, more flies and gnats if you keep the windows open with the lights on. Our advice is to focus on the hotel condition, not the photo op.

The hotel was so lovely and very beautiful. The front desk is not 24hrs but we called ahead to let them know we were going to be late, they were so helpful with instructions to do our self checkin. Would definitely stay here again. The breakfast was spectacular as well. The Pub on site was fab as well. We ate dinner with our kids there two nights as we were too tired to search for anything else after our ski days. I would stay here again for sure.

When we booked a room in Meiringen, we did not know that The Hotel Sauvage, is listed on the Swiss inventory of cultural property of national and regional significance. The price was a bit higher than we usually pay but overall affordable compared to other options in Meiringen. The hotel itself looks very classical and representative from outside. Some elements inside the hotel look like in a museum of Victorian time. However, our room was pretty modern and spacious. Bed is big with many pillows, arm chair is comfy. We had a nice balcony with a pretty view on the yard, where kids can play on the trimmed lawn. You can have dinner in this garden outside. The breakfast was rich, various options are available, coffee is excellent. All COVID-19 precautions have been taken care of. If you need any info about Meiringen, attractions or surrounding area, you can find plenty of info and brochures at the reception. Unfortunately, you can only check in at 4 p.m, even if they have free rooms earlier. It is better to fill an online form when you book a room, otherwise you may lose time at check in. We missed soap in room 325.
