Hotel Italia

In the hotel (master house) I booked a single room for one night. The room was large, very clean and cozy furnished. The staff was very nice and premature. The breakfast was very varied and lovely and did not miss anything. The location is very central and there is a closed and monitored parking (10 EUR per night), which is quickly reached. All in all, therefore, a very recommendable accommodation. - Very well we have eaten in the restaurant Schlesische Oase, which belongs to the hotel, but is a few houses away.
Romantik Hotel Tuchmacher

The hotel is lovely and well located, close to the centre of the old town. We had a very spacious room with large, sparkling bathroom. Everything was very clean. Although there were a lot of people staying, we didn’t hear a sound. Reception staff spoke good English and were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good. Wifi was fast and reliable. There was no electric kettle in the room, but this was supplied on request. Recommended.
Parkhotel Gorlitz

Our impression of Parkhotel Görlitz is quite ambivalent. The location is very convenient if you want to stroll around the old town, and is also very close to the two bridges over to the Polish side. The hotel offers parking in the ba*****t, which is opportune for guests arriving by car. The rooms are also very pleasant with agreeable colours and furniture. The bathroom has elegant tiles of what seems to be marble, but appears somewhat old and worn- especially in the shower area where there are spots of corroding metal and lime. For some reason one of the rooms were lacking a mini bar as well as several light bulbs, which was a mild annoyance. It can also be noted that the room had surprisingly few power outlets, which is a problem when there are many phones and PCs to charge. We also reacted to the energy tax of 7 EUR for two rooms per night. Although we are aware of the energy issues in Germany, we stayed at 4 other hotels in the country in the same period and this is the only hotel were this tax was applicable. The breakfast was not particularly impressive, with few cold cuts, no bacon and (one day) half-burned scrambled eggs. One the most negative aspects however with our stay was the staff, with the exception of the receptionists who were generally welcoming. The breakfast staff (especially one middle-aged woman) appeared very ill-tempered. When she forgot to bring our group coffee and was reminded, she gave a sulky reply and almost slammed the coffee mug on the table. We were also not satisfied with the cleaning staff, who did not change the towels even though they were placed on the floor, who didn’t seem to vacuum the floor as we found nuts by the bed, and did not change the dirty glasses- only rinsed and placed them on the bathroom counter. All these aspects were not very weighty in themselves, but as a general impression they were to many to overlook and not aligned with what one can expect from a 4 star hotel.
Hotel Meridian

We booked this hotel after our previous booking elsewhere was cancelled 2 days before travel. The hotel is about a 12 minute walk from the station and a 4 minute walk from the Old Town which suited us fine. It’s a very interesting old building on a quiet street. Our double room was very big with a vestibule, bathroom sleeping area and dining area. It had a fridge and hot plate but no kettle. However you can get tea and coffee downstairs at any time. There is also a large fridge downstairs which operates as an honesty bar. Our breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of breads, cereals, cold meats, cheeses, salads , yogurts and fruit plus scrambled eggs. I would definitely stay there again
Hotel Silesia

This hotel was recommended by a friend who had stayed there before. We enjoyed the stylish building, the lovely corner room with its many windows & balcony, the excellent shower and the comfortable bed. The breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice, fresh ingredients & tasty coffee. We also ate in the hotel restaurant twice, enjoying various menu items & lovely local draft beer. The staff were all helpful & friendly, particularly the young Polish man who spoke good English. The wi-fi was mostly ok, but with fairly frequent interruptions (I was only trying to listen to BBC radio). Although this hotel is in some ways old-fashioned, it does deserve a good report for style & comfort.
