This guesthouse was highly recommended by some friends, and they were right! We arrived on the train from Kandy in the afternoon, and even though we had not informed the owner of this, he was waiting at the train station to pick us up. It was a short drive to the Guesthouse, where we met his wife and daughter, were given tea and made arrangements for a trip the following morning to Lipton's Peak (to watch the sunrise - early start but awesome!) We explained that we are vegan, but this was not a problem, and the lady of the house made us the most amazing dinner, with several curries, rice, drink and dessert. There was a small additional charge for dinner - and I mean small, especially given the quantity and quality of the meal. Delicious! Our room was very nice and clean with a comfortable bed and a nice balcony, where we sat outside and just listened to the night-time nature sounds of Haputale. We also had a private bathroom with lovely shower (bring your own toiletries). We were only staying overnight, to visit Lipton's Seat, after which we had the most AMAZING breakfast (my first time trying coconut sambal, soooo good!) The owner had then arranged for the same driver to take us to Udawalawa, which is 3 hours away, for a reasonable price. If you are visiting Haputale, I highly recommend this guesthouse - lovely family, comfortable accommodation and fantastic food. Thanks for a great stay!

What a great stay this was. The accommodation is beautiful, we had a HUGE bedroom (two double beds!), with a lovely large bathroom (great shower, bring your own toiletries). The room had powerful AC and a ceiling fan, so the temperature was very comfortable. We also had a huge balcony, and we could just sit outside surrounded by Sri Lankan nature - birds, chipmunks and a monkey! It was like paradise. We are vegan, but this was not a problem for the owner and his wife, who cooked the most delicious evening meal (small additional charge - and I mean small, given the quality and quantity of food!). We dined outdoors with some of the other guests, it was a really enjoyable meal and experience. Breakfast, which is included in the price, was mind-blowing! So much delicious Sri Lanka vegan food, lovingly prepared by the owner's wife and his mother. The coconut pancakes - oh my goodness! We had also arranged a half-day safari (afternoon) through the hotel, at a very good price because we were sharing with some other guests. The safari experience was amazing, our driver was great, very knowledgeable, able to spot the smallest creatures, and very respectful about not intruding, especially with the elephants. Highlight of the afternoon, as we were travelling back to the park entrance, sun starting to set, we came across a family of elephants by the side of the trail, just doing their thing. Our jeep was the only one there, so we just sat, waited and watched. Awesome! So, if you are visiting Udawalawa, I highly recommend this family-run guesthouse. Fantastic accommodation, amazing food, and such a friendly family.

I travel solo and I prefer quiet and peaceful places where I can't hear the noise of the city or the music from the night clubs. So Nature Nest was just perfect for me. I liked everything. The room was light and spacious, a comfortable bad, a big bathroom with hot shower and a nice balcony made my stay cozy and pleasant. And it was so nice to hear the chirping of birds outside in the morning. It took me about 10 minutes to walk down to Ella and maybe a little more to walk up. And every time the walk in the nature was nice and pleasant. Sampat and Nadeeka were really helpful, they gave me many useful tips and good advice about Ella and Sri Lanka and I just had a great time talking with them. The food they cooked was really delicious and also they were so kind to give me a cooking lesson and even a ride when I needed it. I highly recommend the Nature Nest to anyone who values comfort and calmness. And I will be glad to come back if I have such a chance.

Was able to change around the menu based on our preferences and food allergies. Staff are absolutely wonderful, friendly and accommodating. Let the staff know if you have any issues, they will endeavour to provide the best experience for you. Book these rooms! We had the view of the mini Adams peak and the Ella rock (with the gap inbetween) phenomenal to wake up to and see the sunrise. We are walking distance to the train station, and the main strip of shops with restaurants, sim card shops, tourist buys. Tuks (like open taxis) are easy to find. It was raining during the our stay, but the hotel was so lovely that we didn't mind staying in at all. Staff gave us all umbrellas when we did want to walk outside. We (couple + 7 year old son) were at Dream Cliff in December, ushered in Christmas. When we look back today at our 10 day trip, the views from this resort is what's etched most into our minds - and that's priceless. The food and service is outstanding - promptness of the room service, the freshness of the menu, the courtesy of the dining staff - we were thoroughly pampered. At first, we were slightly taken aback that there was no air conditioning in the rooms - however, 15 minutes into the stay, and one realizes that it's not required at all. Any room for improvement - yes, mostly room related - the room decor could be slightly less 'tacky', bathroom slippers would help, pillows are slightly hard, wifi is a bit patchy (a blessing maybe!), geyser can be hotter at times, no closed wardrobes, noises from the bathroom get amplified due to the dome design etc. However, all said and done, we would still stay here unquestionably whenever we're in SL next. The positives overwhelmingly overwhelm the few improvement areas.

We have stayed in a family room for one night on a busy long weekend & wished we could stay longer there. With the narrow approach road & parking, which is common to the Ella area, we had doubts , but the owner Mr Manjula & his staff were attentive & had solutions to the comfort of every guest with no hazzle. Food was very tasty & served on time & though the place was full we were welcome any time with good sevice even at short notice. Room with Beddings & Bath were clean & nice and had enough space. View from the room balcony of Ella rock was pleasing & with greenery around, the birds were a plenty with their songs. Though it was a short stay, with their little input from staff we could use the time well & visited the surrounding attractions & it was time well spent. All in all we really enjoyed our stay & so a big Thank you to Rock side Inn.

Overpriced! 1. No air conditioning, the room is very humid, the bed is cold and wet 2. Integrity hotel construction knocks at the door of the room early in the morning 3. The room is very not soundproof. The hotel and the scenic spot share the road from reception to the room. There is also a traffic jam. Various tuk tuk passing outside the room. It is the horn and the engine roar. Very noisy. 4. No service at all except check-in and check-out
