The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikiki Beach Hotel

Waikiki Honolulu|0.14km from Brothers in Valor Memorial
The Ritz Carlton Waikiki delivers a true 5-star experience. From the minute you arrive to when you leave you are greeted by name whether in person or on the phone. Our special requests were either met or exceeded. The room was super-clean and well stocked with more than enough towels, robes and slippers, coffee and tea. Requests for more hangers, a bucket of ice or anything else were taken care of without delay. The bed was super-comfortable, as good as any I’ve experienced in a hotel. The staff were, without exception, professional, courteous and super-friendly at all times. We didn’t eat in any of the restaurants but the Dean and DeLuca store was a good source of pastries and coffee to bring back to the room. The view we had was ocean and, it’s worth noting, sitting on the lanai was a bit noisy, this is a very urban and busy location so the upside is it’s close to shopping. The adult pool fills up quickly so it’s worth getting there before the sun comes round. The very pretty beach is an easy 10 minute walk and the hotel provides beach towels and water at no charge. Chairs and umbrellas are easily rented on the beach. As there is a small kitchen we stocked up on a few snack and drink items. Do yourselves a favor, stay out of the over-priced ABC’s and head to the Waikiki Market the inventory and prices are way better. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Ritz Carlton and look forward to staying at the next one, maybe Maui?

Waikiki Monarch Hotel

Waikiki
We had 4 nights at the Waikiki Monarch and found it to be a strange experience. We booked it through Booking.com and stayed in apartment 2703A. On the positive side, our apartment had an amazing view of Waikiki, right out to the ocean, as well as along the canal – very inspiring! The location also was very good, situated on the western end of Wikiki. It was only a 10min walk to the beach and about 10min over to Ala Moana Mall and beach park. There was a good internet-enabled TV with about every channel and streaming service you could want – really a nice setup. On the negative side, the apartment was not very well cleaned upon our arrival, especially the floor. A couple of the dining chairs and the couch were covered in stains and were downright disgusting. The apartment was lacking a few basics, such as bedside cabinets and dressers/drawers for storing clothes. I had to lay out all my clothes on the floor along the hallway wall. We also felt the lighting was quite dim in the evenings. The kitchen was small and outfitted with only the basics. The kitchen faucet was loose and about ready to fall off – a little basic maintenance would’ve been nice. Another thing that was odd was that there was no reception or other onsite staff which could be called on if required. We were told to collect our key from a little lock box. We arrived at around 1pm, and since we weren’t allowed to check in until the very late hour of 4pm, we asked if we could store our bags and were told we actually had to pay for bag storage ($5/bag) for the 3 hours. It’s the first time we’ve ever had the experience of having to pay for bag storage at the hotel while waiting for check-in! Not impressed! In any case, we won’t be staying here anytime soon. Not recommended – there are so many far better places to stay in Waikiki. Don’t make the mistake we did.
The Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club

Waikiki
We loved everything about our stay at the Surfjack. The hotel was right in the middle of everything. Walking distance to a ton of restaurants, bars, shopping and Waikiki beach. At check in, we were greeted by friendly staff and treated to a complementary drink. Every member of the hotel staff we interacted with were super friendly and welcoming. The hotel is pet friendly and it was great to see so many people with their pups on vacation. We especially loved the adult only pool hours. Would definitely stay here again on our next trip.
Hotel La Croix

Waikiki
The hotel location is 5-8 minutes walk from the bustling area, and it is also close to the beach, but the location navigation is not very clear because the hotel is located in the middle of the road. The hotel is not large, but there are triple rooms and quadruple rooms suitable for family travel. The overall value for money in the nearby area is relatively high. The disadvantage is that it is noisy and quiet. The hotel is more intimate to provide free breakfast in the room, guests staying at the front desk can also rent beach chairs, bath towels, beach umbrellas, etc. These are more intimate. But there is a problem. The room rate of Ctrip has been paid online. You can still charge a miscellaneous use fee of 25 dollars per day when you check in (that is, breakfast, beach rental, etc. mentioned above, and this does not matter whether you use You don't need to charge) This is not mentioned in the booking on Ctrip, it is not very satisfactory. Waikiki
The staff was super friendly and the hotel is clean. It delivered everything we needed for our Oahu experience! Thank you!!! The only change I would like is to set the room televisions out of ”store/demo” mode. But, we really only used the TV twice during Stanley Cup finals games, so not the end of the world. 🙃 Thank you for your hospitality!

Waikiki
We selected this hotel because it was the cheapest option for a short stay for 6 people since they had a suite option with a pullout couch and most hotels in the Waikiki area didn't. In that sense it was okay and served our purpose. But we couldn't use the balcony because of construction but we saw no construction being worked on. We didn't need to use the pool because it was a short stay but due to the construction the pool is not in use either. It didn't make sense they charge you a daily per day fee for amenities you can't use. And we had trouble with the hot water (twice.) The $30 breakfast is not worth it. What the hotel lacks in desirability, they make up for with the friendliness of the staff. From the restaurant staff to parking staff to the front desk staff, everyone was super nice, lovely and accommodating. When our hot water went out, the next morning they offered another room to shower in. They removed our daily hotel fee because of our troubles with the hot water. The location is next to a brewery and across the street from food trucks which is good. I wish the Hiking Cafe opened before 7a because we would have like to have breakfast there before we went hiking at Diamondhead (the irony!) I would probably only stay here again if my budget was an issue since this was affordable compared to other options. Need some to-go, affordable breakfast options. And fair warning, our hotel room was across from an apartment building and they could easily see in. It was nice to see the Wyland painting across the way. Last thing- the left full size bed in the suite was covering the electrical outlet halfway making it unusable. We used the lamps to charge our phones at night, but seems like a waste of an outlet.
Hilton Grand Vacations Club the Grand Islander Waikiki Honolulu

Waikiki
We highly recommend this property. We stayed in a two bedroom/two bath Oceanview condo on the corner of the 21st floor. It was so quiet/comfortable and we really enjoyed the view from our balcony - watching the sunrise, early morning surfers, parasailing, etc... You could sit out there for hours. We had heard the Hilton property was too busy, but we never felt that way. The beach area is huge and was not overcrowded at all. The staff was so nice and welcoming. We declined housekeeping, but any time they saw us in the hallway they made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely return.
