Colombo Hostels

"For the price, this was a clean hostel. The free breakfast was a good spread with a variety of options, and it was all-you-can-eat, which was a nice bonus."

"Had a wonderful experience as a solo traveller at Backpack Lanka. Super welcoming vibe, clean facilities, and great value for money. Excellent place to relax and meet fellow travellers."

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ **Perfect Base for Exploring Colombo – Great Value & Awesome Staff!** I recently stayed at Clock Inn Hostel in Colombo, and I cannot recommend it enough for backpackers and budget travelers! If you are looking for a comfortable, convenient, and affordable place to stay in Sri Lanka's capital, this is the spot. **📍 Excellent Location** The location on Galle Road (Colombo 03 - Colpetty/Bambalapitiya) is absolutely fantastic. It is right in the middle of the action but still has a relaxed vibe. You are just a short stroll from the Indian Ocean, and public transport (buses and the Bambalapitiya train station) is right at your doorstep, making it incredibly easy to explore the rest of the city. **🛏️ Comfortable Rooms & Great Services** The rooms and dorms are very clean, well-ventilated, and the air conditioning works perfectly (a lifesaver in Colombo!). The beds are comfortable, and they provide secure lockers for your belongings. The hostel offers great services, including reliable Wi-Fi, a 24-hour front desk, and a cozy common area where it's easy to meet other travelers and swap tips. **😊 Friendly & Helpful Staff** The staff here are the true heart of the hostel. From the moment I arrived, they were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They went out of their way to arrange tuk-tuks, give honest recommendations for local food, and help me plan my itinerary. Their warm Sri Lankan hospitality made me feel right at home. **💰 Unbeatable Cheap Prices** For the quality and the location, the prices are amazingly cheap. It is rare to find such a well-maintained hostel with great amenities in such a prime area for such a budget-friendly rate. You really get your money's worth here! **🗺️ Nearby Sightseeing & Attractions** Because of the central location, you are very close to some of Colombo's best sights. Here is what you can easily visit while staying here: * **Majestic City Mall:** Literally a 2-minute walk away for shopping, a food court, and a cinema. * **Galle Face Green:** A short tuk-tuk ride away. Perfect for an evening stroll, flying kites, and eating street food by the ocean at sunset. * **Gangaramaya Temple:** One of the most beautiful and important Buddhist temples in Colombo, located near Beira Lake. * **Independence Square & Viharamahadevi Park:** Great historical landmarks surrounded by lush, green parks—perfect for a morning walk. * **Colombo National Museum:** A fascinating dive into Sri Lanka's history and culture, located very close to the park. * **Lotus Tower:** The iconic towering landmark of the city, offering great panoramic views. * **Barefoot Gallery & Cafe:** A beautiful spot for shopping, relaxing, and having a great meal. * **Pettah Market & The Red Mosque (Jami' Ul-Alfar):** Easily accessible via a quick local train or bus ride down Galle Road to experience the bustling, colorful heart of commercial Colombo. **Final Verdict:** Clock Inn Hostel ticks all the boxes: cheap prices, great rooms, top-notch services, and a super convenient location. I will definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Sri Lanka. Highly recommended!"

"I stayed at this hostel for my first night in Colombo, and overall, it offered good value for money. The location was quite convenient for getting around, and the place was kept very clean. The owner was attentive and responsive to service requests. Here are some practical tips for future guests: The lockers don't have locks, which might be a concern if you're carrying valuables like laptops or cameras. The dormitory rooms have sliding doors that can't be locked, and the bathroom is right outside, so you'll need to be extra mindful of privacy and security. Also, they don't provide toiletries like toothbrushes or shower gel, so be sure to bring your own. Sri Lankan power outlets are unique, so I recommend bringing a universal travel adapter from home, otherwise, you won't be able to charge your phone. It's a good option for a short, budget-friendly stopover. Weigh your options based on your own needs."
