I like that the hotel largely kept the heritage building intact. I tried 3 rooms. First, a small studio under the roof. Spacious and nicely designed but the shower was too low for me. There were cockroaches in the kitchenette. And when the first rains came the roof leaked all over. Second, a room somewhere in the middle that gives out on a cover corridor/verandah. It was a nice room, but i missed direct dailight. Finally, a room in the back of the first floor, which was smaller but way more comfortable. None of the problems of my first room. Staff is lovely. It feels homely. It's right in the heart of Thamel, but also sufficiently down an alley to not suffer from the nighttime noise. I know that my description of the first room (though acurate) is not very appealing, but i would definitely stay there again. My recommendation is to choose a room that's right for you. If it's not fully booked , ask to look around. This is an old building. Each room is very different from the other.
