Sangregado Lodge

If you want to see what Heaven looks like stay at this lodge. The employees are the sweetest ,most helpful, people you will meet. They make reservations, order food, and fix things with a text. There is a fresh coconut on arrival. The lodge down the hill has a gorgeous pool and bar for the guests use. The Blue Iguana also has delcious dinners and host the free breakfast buffet. The breakfast is great!! tons of fresh food. The show stopper is the room. The view is breathtaking. I couldnt get over it Even the rainshower has a view into the tropical landscape. The temperature could get adjusted easy. The TV would come in in Englash and SPanish. We loved it as being there as a couple

For a delightful stay in the Arenal area, we suggest Sangregado Lodge. Set in the rainforest it is a 30-minute drive from La Fortuna, a nearby town; we consider that a plus. We welcomed the peace and quiet of the Lodge’s location. Sangregado calls its individually-separate accommodations, villas. Ours was No. 9; it was clean and the bed was comfortable. All villas and the Lodge itself are named for trees; No. 9 is called , Higuerón, the Golden Fig or Strangler Fig! Spacious and minimal in its appointments, the real attraction is outside. The floor-to-ceiling glass wall in the main room brings the outdoors in indoors. A view of Mt. Arenal greets you each day. The bathroom shower has a glass wall and screen facing Mt. Arenal too: it was as if we were showering out-of-doors! Front-desk personnel Francisco, Luis, and Larry, are friendly and helpful. Sangregado does not have kitchen/breakfast facilities onsite. Breakfast can be taken across the street at the Mistico Café or down the road a piece at Hotel Lost Iguana (you need a vehicle to get there). We preferred Lost Iguana for its varied, all-you-can-eat buffet, its attractive setting, and its friendly waiters. Lost Iguana also has a one-mile trail on its property that you are welcome to hike after breakfast or before. Sangregado Lodge is conveniently located across the street from Mistico Park; the Lodge and Park are owned by the same La Fortuna family. This proximity makes a visit to Mistico easy. We would strongly encourage a visit to Mistico; its six hanging bridges and wild life are an exciting way to pass several hours on a guided tour.

This a a nice remote boutique hotel in the rainforest. Pros: Friendly front desk people Nice, modern room Great view of the rainforest and volcano (when it’s not cloudy) Access to the pool, restaurant, and bar at Lost Iguana down the street. Free breakfast Across the street from the Mistico Bridges Cons: No hot water. Don’t expect a hot shower. No onsite pool or restaurant Bugs in the room. We had a 4 inch wolf spider in our room! About a 20 minute drive from town

If you chose this for what it is, then surely you will be amazed as we were. Far enough away from La Fortuna (terrible place) and 30 minutes maximum from all natural activities, we have spent two nights and morning immersed in nature, awakened by incredible colours in the sky and sounds from the forest.

This was such a beautiful stay! It's located at the top of a mountain and across from a hanging bridge park. We had a great stay and felt very welcomed. Breakfast is included and great!

Oh my goodness, if you’re looking for eco-chic way to enjoy the Costa Rican rainforest this is it. Simple, beautiful, let nature steal the show. Slept with the doors open so we could hear all the amazing sounds.

What a perfect hotel to kick off my first trip to Costa Rica! Very peaceful location - you wouldn’t know that it’s so close to Mistico Park Hanging Bridges , just across the parking lot! It was lovely to be greeted with coconut water after the drive from Liberia. Francisco at the front desk was so helpful during our stay. Room was clean, with powerful a/c and ceiling fan. The stool that doubled as a Bluetooth speaker was a nice touch. Plenty of parking. The included breakfast at Blue Hibiscus down the hill was tasty, and great portions. Saw so many birds from our patio including toucans! And of course, once the fog burns off, amazing views of Arenal Volcano. The front desk can help arrange food delivery (have cash on hand for payment), and also there’s some snacks and drinks for sale in the minibar as well as filtered water dispenser in the lobby.

Secluded individual cabin/villas with stunning views of Arenal Volcano and the rainforest from both bedroom and bathroom. Steps from Mistico Hanging Bridges. You are greeted with coconut water from a real coconut. This is the place to relax and get away from it all. Sit and listen to the forest from your bed or the deck. We even saw firebugs at night. If bugs freak you out, though, this is not the place for you.... Other than the bridges and walking through rainforest, nothing is close. Walking to free breakfast at the Blue Hibiscus is treacherous but there is a shuttle at 8 am or they will deliver to cabin. La Fortuna is 30 min away by taxi with plenty to do there - Waterfall, chocolate/coffee tour recommended. Speaking of treacherous, I slipped and fell on the rain-slicked walkway, which was not well lit. So be careful. Plus there is one cabin without a railing by the door!

The perfect view on the Vulcano! There is no other hotel with this view in the middle of the jungle. The staff was super friendly and we felt welcomed. Only thing you need to keep in mind is that you’re pretty far away from anything, which also means restaurants and attractions. So a car is definitely needed.
