The hotel is aesthetically pleasing, has old world charm yet modern. Breakfast is good though sometimes a long queue is formed outside the restaurant. But my check in was very disappointing. First the time it took for that staff to process it led me to think either their computer is not working or there's a problem with my booking (but I have received reminder from Trip.com. Worst, that staff asked me to pay a sum which is about £100 more than the stated sum on my hotel voucher ( he even said specifically ”For the first night the amount is xxx, and for the second night, the amount is xxx, with a security deposit of £50, the total is £4xx.”I told him he made a mistake as the sum stated in my printed voucher is only £3xx. That staff is either incompetent or not trustworthy, and should not be working on front desk. ALWAYS CHECK THE PRICE ON YOUR VOUCHER.

I requested a room away from the road and got one which was appreciated. Really warm welcome from reception staff on arrival and in the restaurant at breakfast, which was excellent. Reception areas, bar, restaurant and lifts were all modern, clean and offered plenty of seating. Our room was very clean and the bed/pillows were very comfortable. If i was being really picky the room, bathroom and corridor could probably do with a refurb or bit of tlc but for a 1 or 2 night stay the hotel ticks all the boxes and we were really pleased that we chose Holiday Inn.

Check in was a little slow, our room wasnt ready at check in time however they gave us complimentary drinks as an apology so we had a drink while we waited am extra 30minutes or so. The ladies at reception were very polite and helpful, rooms were clean however the only downside was our shower drain was blocked and that took an army to solve. We ended up switching rooms in the end but the communication was terrible. Breakfast was good although their coffee machines seemed not to work properly for most part of the morning. Overally a good hotel, excellent location, pool was warm, sauna was good, gym was a bonus. A relaxing stay

Best hotel I've been to so far all the staff day/night was well mannered happy helpful joyful staff from reception to dinning down to the cleaners all have above and beyond with my stay from the moment I arrived made me feel equal as im disabled the lift access was easy to use helpful with my luggage straight away no waiting around reception was brilliant excellent communication got my room card really quickly no waiting around 3 lifts so plenty of access to floors my room was beautiful spacious easy access with quick card entrance with electric door just swap and the door opens for you with one press button to exit bathroom has all disabled access toilet bars shower seat with arm rests your able to move from side to side which helps getting to dry floor food was amazing from breakfast buffet massive selection you got to try the mixed fruit juices red and green flavour explosion have your great British fry up with a croissant and cappuccino for afters even had reserved table with easy access with out asking help with service if you want your breakfast brought too your room i highly recommend you stay in the Leonardo hotel for best stay on what ever your needs great tourist's while on your stay you have to visit the castle

Room was very big and spacious, room was clean and spotless. Breakfast was lovely and location excellent. Everything was great, no complaints.

Nice location near both city center and the train station

Location was excellent. Right in the city centre. Don't be confused though, there are two Travelodges and we went to the wrong one first which was conveniently close to the train station. A short taxi ride took us to the correct one. Reception is unusually on the 3rd floor, but friendly staff. Your pass key will only unlock your floor which also has safety doors. Be careful not to put it near your phone as it desensitised it and it won't unlock anything - like mine, but a visit to the Reception fixed that. Felt very safe there as the automatic doors from street level lock at night, so no one could wander in off the street. A bar and cafe located on same 3rd floor as Reception was convenient for a drink and snack. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Cardiff has a large pedestrian area, so it was easy to walk to major shops, restaurants and pubs (recommend the Owain Glyndwr) and attractions such as Bute Park and Cardiff Castle were easy to walk to. The Christmas markets and Winter Wonderland were also close by and beautiful to view at night. Foreign money exchange was a short walk from hotel at the Queen Street shopping arcade entrance.

Very convenient and parking centre is very close and price is reasonable. Counter service is so nice. 😊

Price was much more affordable than other hotels in the same area. Great location. The check-in time was 3PM but displayed here 2PM, called the number at the reception and the lady still let me check-in early. Room was spacious and clean, bathroom as well, however I booked a double bed but it was 2 singles put into one. The water in the shower was way too hot though, I was twisting the knob and wait for each of them for a while but it’s just keep getting hotter so eventually I took mixed it the cold water from the faucet pour it in the tub. Overall nice experience
