Campanile Lyon Centre - Gare Part Dieu

03.La Part-Dieu Lyon|2.63km from Fontaine de La Roseraie
I had the misfortune to stay at this hotel for one night in May 2022 with my mom. At the arrival the receptionist is very nice, aknowledging the fact that we had already paid for the stay through a deal on booking. As the room was not ready yet, we leave for the city centre and as we come back in the afternoon, two other guys at the reception, barely speaking any English or French, hint that we had to pay for the stay. Somehow we manage to be understood and we only have to pay for the ”tax de sejour”. Let's speak about the rooms - I understand that this is an extremely basic hotel, but for the price paid one would at least expect a decent room. Well, this is definitely NOT the case. Rooms are tiny - literally. No hooks to hang clothes, no bathroom shelf, leaving the nice option to leave all your toiletries on the floor. The towels are two tiny towels that might be used to dry your mouth (maybe) after cleaning your teeth - hoping that the sink is not clogged and not fixed (as it was four our case, even after having promptly informed the reception). The TV has NO other channels if not French speaking - I understand we're in France, but haven't you heard of satellite? The AC does not refresh this tiny hole, and even in May, we had to sleep with our windows open not to suffocate What else to say if not: save your money and go else where, for that rate you can absolutely get better accomodation

Wife and I were here for 2 nights in Nov. The hotel was relatively easy to get to from the airport via the express train then walk about 7 minutes from the train station to take the tram. Our check in process was simple and friendly. We were given a room over looking the park. Our room was comfortable and clean, WiFi worked great through out our stay. Our bathroom amenities were lacking. No hair conditioners available. The hotel location ISN'T good, especially if it's your first time in Lyon. We stayed here for a status run so we tolerated it. You shouldn't if you don't have a reason to. Most sites, things, stores you would need are either in Lyon Part-Dieu, Prefecture, Presqu'ile, Cordeliers, Carnot, Confluence, or Vieux Lyon. What this means is you need to get on Tram 1, 2, 4, or 5 every time you need to get somewhere. It gets old, fast. All the good restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, anything you need that's above average will not be near this hotel. During our stay we needed forks at around 16:00. They told us that we had to wait until 18:00 when the bar or restaurants are opened to get forks. Really? There are no forks in the hotel? Is this really a hotel with actual services? I laughed out loud and shook my head on the inside when they told us this. The gym was pretty decent with actual equipment and machines that targets all the body muscles. So this was a plus unlike other hotels where they just have a cardio machine and some dumbbells that pass as a gym. Overall it was an average hotel away from anything we needed with staffs that were friendly but not helpful. We won't be here again unless we had to such as during a convention.

The location of the hotel is okay, it is close to the Lyon-Patiu train station, there are 2 subway lines nearby, and many bus lines, breakfast is also good, and the double bed room is not bad.

We only sleeped those one night before our cruise starts there. That's why we did not take intensive steps in the preparation. That's why we swallowed when we were confronted with reality: the price of € 304 for Lyon is ok because the location of the hotel is really super near the old town and the river. You wanted more than € 500 14 days before. We booked them, observed the price when the down we cancelled and rebooked. The more than € 500 would have not been worth the hotel (even 3 stars). In total, it reminded us of our stays as students in Paris: The room with double bed (Queens version) was given to us. We paid two single beds. When we made a complaint, we were friendlyly offered to prepare the sofa. We had to laugh. Like about some more in the hotel. If you have pleasure of old windows and their museum-mature grips, kitchen prints on the walls and at all ”best equipment”, you are right there. We have renounced breakfast. But that is typical in France in Family hotels never like it is in Germany for example. That's OK because you know that. Conclude: location perfect, together and through the rest of the teeth.

The front desk staff were friendly and polite to me, they helped me on things as best as they could and English was well spoken. The view from outside is nice as you are so high up. The hotel is overall ok but it's not high-end, it's old and a little dark, I did not see that opulent wood panelled dining room shown in the Tripadvisor pics, the dining room was nothing like that. The room had an adequate kitchen area which I found very useful and you will need to obviously buy food but also all washing up stuff etc and all cleaners. You clean/make up your own room unless you pay an extra daily charge which I didn't but I'm old enough to make my own bed. However as I was there for 11 days I was told I'd get one cleaning day/linen/towel change after a week but that never happened. Like the last reviewer I was also in Lyon for surgery and this hotel is not suitable for post-op recovery as you really do need to be pretty fit to deal with the location. It is halfway up a very steep hill several hundred yards long so would also not suit older visitors or those that want an easy level stroll to local cafes. The local store at the bottom of the hill is good and is where you can buy most needed supplies and the boulangerie opposite makes very nice mini quiches. This would suit a younger visitor or able visitor and the area is also good for street photographers. Lyon is a nice city and good to explore but if you visit the marvellous Notre Dame Basilica in Fourvierre be very careful. You will need to use the funicular railway to get to it and on this I was mugged by a young steaming gang who pickpocketed my cash and c/cards. One young 20s guy within with two petite, dead face teen girls will block your path as you get on the carriage and literally lock on to you bodily. The guy will start shouting in your face to distract you while the skilful girls are emptying your pockets. You won't feel it.

Wonderful location close to the peninsula with a metro station, Foch, under three minutes away by foot. My single room was tiny, (6 square metres aparently) the lavatory and shower together, no wardrobe...but there was a table. However, the bed and room were spotless and I was comfortable. The location, in what would seem to be a very safe neighbourhood, is my overriding positive of the hotel. I didn't use the restaurant but the ambiance was encouraging.

This is an Accor-affiliated Pullman brand hotel located in front of Part-Dieu station in Lyon's new urban center. Although it is located in front of the station, Part-Dieu Station itself is still under development, and to get to the hotel you have to detour around a large construction site. It feels like only a narrow passage is open. This hotel itself has only recently opened. I stayed in a standard double room, and it was spacious and comfortable. The bath seems to only have a shower. It has a hand and a fixed rain, so it is not difficult to use. The bathroom sink was large and very convenient. The closet is also large and has storage capacity. There was a refrigerator and electric kettle. At the time of my stay, breakfast was served to celebrate the opening. A typical European buffet style consisting of cold meals such as breads, cereals, ham, and cheese, and hot meals such as sausages and scrambled eggs. As for the products unique to Lyon, there was a brioche made with praline rouge, which was very delicious. In front of the station, there is a Carrefour supermarket, a food court, McDonald's, Burger King, and a shopping mall with stores like UNIQLO and MUJI. You will need to transfer from Part-Dieu Station, but access to the city's tourist attractions is not bad. Lyon Central Market Paul Bocuse is within walking distance.
