Plaza Hotel Capitole Toulouse

Plaza Hotel Capitole Toulouse

Toulouse City Center Toulouse|2.63km from Serre Municipale
As the picture shows, this is an IHG hotel in an architecturally lovely building on one corner of Place du Capitole, the main square in Toulouse which also houses the Town Hall, many bars, cafes, restaurants and shops. The staff are very friendly and polite and always wishing to help whether at Reception, the Bar or on Housekeeping duty. The bedrooms ( we had 536 ) which had 2 double beds, tv, fridge with daily water, tea / coffee station, a very comfortable armchair, desk and office chair. The bathroom was standard and met expectations. Housekeeping was excellent. The lounge / bar area was rather quaint but adequate and a fitness room was in the basement ( we did not use ). Breakfast was also downstairs and consisted of a hot / cold buffet style with a selection of cereals, fruit/ breads /pastries etc. Egg options available on request. Similar every day but more than adequate. Top Tip - if travelling from the airport, take the Tram ( T1 ) to Arenes and then transfer to the Metro to Capitole and then a short 5 minute walk to Place du Capitole and the hotel ( ticket 1.70 euros ...taxi 25 euros ! ) The hotel is also near all the main attractions with the main railway station about 20 mins away via Joan of Arc Square. Finally, the FREE electric minibus passes through the Square every 15 mins. Wave it down to stop and then enjoy a gratis tour of Toulouse to get your bearings. It will even stop just outside the hotel. Enjoy.

Friendly welcome. Nice touches such as a welcome drink, free instant coffee, jellybeans in our room. Breakfast was very good. We arrived 25 minutes before the breakfast time was over and there was very little left. It had clearly been very busy and looked like a plague of locusts had gone through before us. There was a lovely lady, Garancia, on in the breakfast area who was managing everything by herself. When we asked if there was any more ham, she raced out and came back with a pile of ham which she offered us very apologetically. Full marks to her, or as they say in France, “chapeau”! However, our room was not that clean. There was a lot of dust along the edges of the carpet, walls and windowsill which would have been sorted with a jolly good vacuum clean. The shower was clean enough and so was the bed linen. The bed itself was large. The aircon worked well. To log on to the WiFi, we couldn’t find an ibis account so tried the Kyriad one instead. To our great surprise, it came up as Ibis Styles. We couldn’t get it going following the online instructions and had to go down and see the nice receptionist to help us. The TV only offered French channels. Not even a Spanish one! The biggest problem though is traffic noise. Even though we were on the 4th floor, it was quite loud. So if you’re coming, you’ll need earplugs to sleep. The graffiti/street art theme was not to our taste but if it’s yours, this is the place for you!

👍🏻 First time in the hotel apartment, the studio is large with 1 kitchen stay and one room. The kitchen is super-equipped and you can do everything: from coffee to eggs to dishes. 👍🏽 Heating and air conditioning included. Stillness of the rooms. The hotel is well served by buses and metro to go to the city centre, and around there are shops, cake shops, supermarkets, kebabs or bars. 👎 There was a very bad litter and the covers were full of old customers' hair.

The location is very good, the transportation is convenient, beside the canal, leisure and quiet. Although the kitchen is small, everything is available, and it is clean and hygienic. Warm service. Forgot to bring a conversion socket, the hotel provides one for free.

Our hotel which couldn’t extend our stay found us this one for two nights. The location of the hotel is perfect for sight seeing, metro right in front and streets that take you to central sights make for enjoyable walks. Hotel staff was very helpful and welcoming. The breakfast is a good value, offering juices, coffee along with a variety of fresh bread items, fruit cocktails , fresh cold cuts and all the other typical breakfast items for 10 euro, which compares well with area restaurants offering bread/ croissants coffees and juice only for 6-12 euros . The room was spacious , newly updated, clean with excellent firm bed and linens. The bathroom also had everything one needed and a good shower. A note here that the bathroom is frosted glass walls so everything can be heard and privacy may be a concern for some. The only reason I didn’t give the highest rating is that we had a non stop electric buzzing background noise and periodic clicking electric noise in the room all night so I could not sleep very well. It may have been an issue with our room only(201), apparently the last available room.Given we were leaving after 2 nights and no other options,I accepted it .
