The Westin Palace, Milan

It is very true that a picture and an image tell their own powerful story! When my husband Guy and I arrived back at the Westin Hotel from Florence, Guy got down on the floor of the hotel reception on both knees to offer a prayer of thanks to Riccardo, the Head Concierge of the Magical Concierge Team. This is how grateful and delighted we were with the services of the Concierge team of Riccardo, Andrea and Silvia. Riccardo was unphased by us not having made Porter reservations for the Railway station. He said he would find a way to help for us with our large luggage. The combination of Riccardo’s skills and connections achieved a mini miracle; our taxi driver to Milan station had been briefed on how to secure porter assistance and the plan was executed with military precision. A young man appeared from nowhere to provide this assistance. This type of service can only be achieved by a Magical Concierge Team. Riccardo, Andrea and Silvia also scored perfection on our return journey from Florence to Milan. As the train arrived at Milan Central, Porter Andrea was holding up a sign with my name on it with the universal thumbs up signal. Watching this Porter lift two suitcases weighing around 20 kilos each from the overhead baggage rack as though they were a feather, was astonishing. Between them Porter Andrea and Mario, the driver of the chauffeur service ensured a seamless arrival back at the Westin. We recommend this Concierge team without any hesitation as the best.

The location of the hotel is quite good, as the friends in front said, passing through a small garden to the most famous street, then the hotel's second promenade and cathedral. In addition, the S5 next to the hotel goes directly to the central station, and the airport bus is on the left side of the main entrance of the train station. There are still a lot of cars passing by at 9 or 10 in the evening, 8 euros a person. Let's talk about the hotel's facilities, clean, tidy, slippers, shampoo, shower gel, and even the toothbrush can be with the front desk. Every day, a bottle of water and a hot water bottle are available. Best of all, the hotel has a lot of restaurants on the way to the first intersection and then left to the three intersections. There are many local restaurants, and there is a 40 pizza e Cucina restaurant Pizza and Pasta. Almost all locals. There is a dessert shop next door, and its opposite side has an inconspicuous small food store (three local old mothers) to produce food is very recommended! The city tax of the hotel is 10 euros per room per night. There is no nonsense at the front desk. When we check in, it is a girl. When we check out, it is an uncle. It is very polite and quick to handle. We have questions to ask them, they They all answered in detail and decently, and did not encounter the situation of those friends who had said ”too talkable”. By the way, their beds and pillows are very comfortable, perfect for a comfortable night after a night of shopping. Of course, because there is a convenient tram in front of the hotel, there is a tram sound through the road, but there will be no car at night. There is also a bathtub when taking a bath. The glass door is relatively small and easy to splash out, but it can be avoided with caution, but the water is very large and the water temperature is very good. In short, it is the most comfortable of the four hotels we stayed in. In the area of RMB five or six hundred, this house facilities and the surrounding environment (oh, there is a big supermarket next to it, there is also a Carrefour express on the road), you can definitely give 5 points!

Hotel Cavour

If your looking for good value than seriously look elsewhere. We've been on a month trip to Italy and a week here has cost us more than a week in Naples, Rome, Lipari and all of those were 5 star hotels and MUCH nicer. Main issues: 1: They nickel and dime you for literally everything. Not only is the hotel extremely overpriced. Extremely small. Tiny bathroom. Extremely old, outdated rooms. Seriously I've stayed at 3 star hotels nicer and cheaper with more facilities than Hotel Cavour Milano. They wanted to charge us $120 Euros to book a taxi to the airport when a taxi from the airport to here last week cost us $27 Euros! Yes it's a hotel they need to make their margin. Yes there's booking fees. But 100 Euro?! Not to mention they charge $30 Euro to use the spa area even though they do not have a normal pool area and spa like every other hotel I've been to, and their spa area only has 1 steam room, 1 cold shower area and that's about it! Biggest waste of 30 Euros ever! 2: Staff friendliness. As soon as we arrived, we were not greeted. Every question you ask is met with the shortest abruptest minimal answer possible. Just yes, no. No explanation or details whatsoever. They really do not want to talk to you. You leave/enter the hotel, and they just look at you, no good day/evening or anything. I've never been to a motel where the staff do not greet you let alone a ”4 star” hotel. Not to mention the air conditioner is preset to turn off and lock itself to 23 whenever you leave the room so when you come back all sweaty and hot you have a nice hot room to greet you and have to manually adjust it and you cannot go below 21. Nickle and diming left, right, and center. Park Hyatt New York was less of a rip off and that was $1200 a night! Positives: 1: Room is well maintained and clean which is nice, but is that really a positive? Shouldn't that be expected? Towels and bathroom towels and toiletries were daily restocked which is more than I can say about the other hotels we stayed at in Rome and Naples, but again as above is that a positive or is that supposed to just be normal?

The hostel was clean, tidy and the staff were friendly and helped us with any questions and gave us recommendations of where to visit. Having a 24 hr reception was extremely useful as there was always someone to chat too if we needed help. Not being able to take our keys out of the hostel gave us peace of mind that we wouldn’t lose them, so it was nice to simply hand them in to reception and get them back when we returned from our outings. While at the hostel we decided to go to Lugano, Switzerland on the train and we didn’t return to our hostel for over 24 hours, when we arrived back we asked for our keys and all was well with our room etc… If I return to Milan and want an affordable accomodation I would definitely rebook this as it is walking distance in to the centre of Milan also.

The hotel is small and the room is clean, but go to the room type that does not choose the park view, just on the roadside, completely soundproof doors and windows, fortunately there are earplugs, otherwise it is a nightmare. Hotel location is very good, not 15 minutes to reach Napoleon Street, a straight road for 20 minutes is Milan Cathedral.

From the point of view of the value of the value, this hotel is very qualified, very design sense, pat on the ins wind screen red photos, but for me who do not have strong photo needs, in many places it is not satisfactory In particular, in terms of hardware facilities: the kettle is broken (new after communication); the bathroom sink design has problems, it is easy to splash; the shower sewer is blocked (communication after communication) Health is decent, but not very clean; air conditioning is controlled by the hotel, perhaps adapted to European habits, the temperature is very low, and the noise is very high; the main control switch also has problems. The service aspect is still satisfactory, and it is very positive to solve the problem. However, during the travel, facing these episodes, it is necessary to constantly communicate, which is a waste of time and affects some moods~

We visited the hotel for a weekend in September. The purpose of our visit was to explore Milan and to attend the Monza Grand Prix. The hotel is in a great location, a short taxi ride from the airport and within walking distance to two train stations and the centre of town. Check in and out was really quick and the staff were so frjendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean and really nicely decorated. The breakfast buffet was brilliant, lots of variety and high quality food. We also had a drink in the bar one evening and it was a good atmosphere, service and the drinks we ordered were made well. Overall we felt the hotel was excellent for 4 stars and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for luxury without breaking the bank.
