The Nantucket Hotel & Resort

Nantucket is so lovely, and this place is in the heart of it all. However, we were somewhat disappointed by the accommodations (cottage 3) which were not as luxury as the price would lead you to expect. The rooms and bathrooms are TINY. Like NYC tiny. I'm attaching a photo of the six inches between the bed and the dresser. I understand that the cottages are likely old and that's why. We also noticed several places where the building was literally falling apart (wood that was rotting, tiles that were permanently dirty, etc.). I think they can improve the quality of the rooms. And while everyone was friendly, we did have a few frustrating experiences with the staff. For instance, no one ever returned our emails (the email they said to reach out to if we had any questions). Staff also couldn't answer simple questions about how the kids club worked. They also failed to call us a taxi as we had requested which led us to be late to the airport. It sometimes felt like the staff were all new and just figuring things out. Friendly but not so competent. Perhaps that's par for course at a seasonal hotel. Unfortunately I don't think we would stay here again. It was simply not up to the standards you would expect in this price range.

Wow, where to begin. The room was not ready on time. We had to wait in the lobby for almost 30 minutes past check in time until it was ready. That seemed like ages after a long day of travelling. We were tired and just wanted to crash. No refreshments or even drinks were offered while we waited. The room's door is located *directly* in front of an AC vent, which was on, constantly, at full blast, blowing freezing air at the door. Not only was it loud enough to hear from inside the room, with the door closed, but it meant that every time one enters or leaves the room, one gets chilled to the bone. See photo #1. The room itself was nice and clean. The fireplace adds a nice touch. The bathroom, however, was not clean at all. There was a hair, presumably left behind by a previous guest, on the shower wall and another one on the ceiling (HOW?!). See photo #2. There were also small remnants of mold on the bathroom ceiling. See photo #3. The hot water temperature in the shower constantly fluctuates. You can feel it reach a higher temperature when you turn the dial all the way to the left, yet every time you do so, it goes back to lukewarm temperature after a few seconds and continues to do so throughout your entire time in the shower. The dial says 100 degrees, yet it feels like much less than that. The doorstop in the room is located so terribly and haphazardly that it was tripped over several times. It's right in front of the closet and active attention is required in order to not to step on it when accessing items in the closet, particularly the ironing board. I stubbed my toe so bad it ripped off a significant part of my toe nail. I called the front desk, asking for medical tape. They said they did not have medical tape available, which a basic and standard part of a first aid kit, only band-aids, which weren't useful in this instance. The room has no sound isolation whatsoever. We could hear creaking from the room above us every time the guests staying there took a single step on the floor. That actually woke us up multiple times over multiple nights. One of us slept under the pillow, the other one used earplugs. At some point I was woken up abruptly by incessant loud beeping from the adjacent room. I had to get up, get dressed and go outside to figure out what was going on. Saw a hotel staff member and asked him. He said it was a faulty smoke alarm. I told him I'm trying to sleep, his only reply was "I know, I know". Poor cleaning and lack of proper full aid supplies is simply unacceptable! The only positive aspects of our stay were the size of the bed, the amount of electrical and USB sockets and the friendliness of the staff. One of the worst hotel stays of our lives. We sent this review to the hotel, at their request, but haven't received any response yet. This was over two weeks ago.

Awesome experience! The Nantucket Hotel has it all including genuine smiles and willingness to accommodate from all team members. The bedding is beyond the most comfortable and the room offers everything that one needs for the most comfortable of stays on so many levels. The location to town is ideal and the resort offers transportation if needed. The restaurant offers a creative and delicious menu, something for everyone.

The hotel Nantucket is an incredible location to relax and be pampered. The staff is so attentive and kind. Peg and I are in our eighties, with some mobility issues and the staff was there to accommodate us at every turn. Overall a great experience

If you want to be treated like family by wonderful people in an impeccably run and maintained hotel in one of the most beautiful settings you can imagine, then The Nantucket Hotel and Resort is for you! It starts at the front desk - actually, it starts at the ferry, when you're picked up by a friendly driver for the very brief drive to the hotel. When you walk up the stairs, across the porch, and into the charming-yet-elegant lobby, you'll be greeted warmly and professionally by the front desk team. If you're lucky, Fulya will be there to give a smile, or a hug!, and get you checked in. The rest of your stay will be more of the same - great people, great service, and a great place to spend some time. Kudos to Carlos and his amazing team on helping create such great memories!

Incredible experience! Can't wait to go back! The staff was amazing and were readily available to provide suggestions on where to go while on the Island and were there to cater your every need! Even got a ride in the Lilly Moke to Jetties Beach!

Lovely hotel, extremely poor and unprofessional service and staff. I was leery about staying at this hotel before we even arrived based on the phone conversations with staff prior to arrival. I have never stayed at hotel that charges this amount of money and has such an extreme lack of service. HORRIBLE. No help with bags, no available hangers, no phone in room to call front desk. Extremely rude front desk personnel. The room is ridiculous, the furniture does not fit and there is 14 " to get by the bed to the bathroom.

Our experience at the hotel with the staff, the room the service and ambience was exceptional and One that I expect to find in a luxury hotel. What I didn’t expect to find was the state of the art fitness center as complete as any Jim I have ever visited with up-to-date, modern equipment, and a staff willing to assist . My previous experiences with workout centers at hotels have been limited to a treadmill bicycle and perhaps a couple of other items. This was fully equipped to include all yoga paraphernalia needed for anyone to have a thorough workout. And totally unexpected.

I am posting this review because, although I responded in detail to your survey requesting feedback about my spa visit, I have received no response in over a month. I then emailed the General Manager of the hotel via the email provided on your website. Again, I have received no response to my email in almost 2 additional weeks. While I prefer to communicate directly and outside of a public review, I have not received any response at all. My husband and I visited Nantucket for the first time in late June. I was excited to visit your resort and try your spa, so I booked an Aromatherapy 90 minute massage. I was graciously greeted at the hotel front desk and taken to the spa area; I arrived at the spa/gym area with only a few minutes before my treatment, but I was not offered a locker, a robe, nor was I even informed there was a changing/locker facility for the spa. Instead, I was instructed to undress in the treatment room. The "spa" consisted of 2 unassuming treatments rooms with a small waiting area holding 2 chairs, inside the gym/work out facility. I was expecting an actual spa, based on reviews here, so I was very disappointed that this was not an actual spa. My therapist, La Nessa (I think that was her name, possibly LaCressa) was abrupt in her nature, but I hoped her massage technique would make up for this; that did not happen. Despite the fact that I booked an "Aromatherapy Massage", no options for oil scents were offered; she only asked if I liked lavender for the massage oil. I asked if there were any other options, to which she replied, "only eucalyptus". When I asked for anything a little less strong, she said no other options were available and that she would mix the two oils and started the treatment without offering any further options. The massage was rough, untrained, and painful at times, and when I asked her to kindly lower the pressure a little, she admonished me for not "telling her sooner". During certain stretching parts of the treatment, I told her my knee could not move further in the direction she was pushing it without pain/injury, and she abruptly assured me it could. She received 2 personal cell phone calls during my treatment, each call vibrating through 8 "ring" cycles, and since her phone was in her pocket, it was right at my ear level. She made no attempt to turn the phone off after the first or the second call that she received. I have never had a therapist have a cell phone in the room, let alone have it actively going off, during a spa service. To me, this was incredibly unprofessional. At the conclusion of the treatment, she instructed me to dress back in my clothes (since I had not been offered the locker room or robe). I did not want to get massage oil on my clothes, but no towel was offered or available in the room. I wiped off the oil the best that I could with the sheet from the massage table and dressed.
