We couldn’t have asked for more from this hotel, we were a little sceptical at first reading the reviews but decided to take a chance. My girlfriend and I stayed 5 nights and had everything we needed, at the end of the day we needed a nice clean room to sleep in after a full day exploring the city. The bed was comfy, the room was a lot bigger than we expected and apart from a few minor wear and tear issues the room in general was immaculate. On arrival we payed a 150 dollar security deposit and upon checking out, this was refunded instantly (thank you it was well needed!). The hotel is really well located as it’s a 5 minute walk from Grand Central and about a 10/15 minute walk from 5th Ave which was perfect for us. The staff were all really welcoming and so helpful, they also are happy to keep your bags on the day of check out for 5 dollars, which is a bargain compared to what we heard about other hotels. There’s a coffee machine downstairs which we didn’t make use of (your in New York, make the most of the unbelievable coffee shops??) and a vending machine which was extremely handy to grab water and a snack out of at the end of a long day. All in all you pay for what you get, not luxury but definitely great for a short term stay in the city - would definitely recommend if it’s your first time travelling to New York. Warning! Avoid booking a stay at this hotel unless you're comfortable showering with brown water! My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing due to the poor water quality. Upon turning on the faucet in the shower, I was greeted with yellow and brown water flowing out into the bathtub. It sounds like you're comparing something. It looks worse in person than it does in pictures. I changed rooms with my two children at 11 pm, but the new room's shower had the same brown water when I checked it, so I returned to my original room. The manager kept insisting that only my rooms had issues and none of the other rooms in the hotel experienced the same problem. Is she kidding me? Most rooms only have a shower booth with dark tiles, making it difficult for most guests to notice the discolored water unless they fill a container with it. Not only was this disgusting and off-putting, but it also raised serious concerns about the cleanliness and safety of the water supply. Despite speaking with the manager the next day, the issue remained unresolved, leaving me incredibly unsatisfied with my stay.

I cancelled my booking over a month ago and I still haven't received my refund. I'm not one to write bad reviews to get some attention but I have called and emailed and no one has replied so I'm obliged to go public. It's been over the 20 working days that they said it should take and since I've been ignored. I feel like I've been robbed!

i had been staying at this property since the early 2000s, when it was a W property, and continued while it was a st.giles. was bummed when it went away and stoked when it came back. but this is a shadow of its former self. the wyndham folks did nothing to improve or update the rooms, but the phones didn't work (so you had to go down to the lobby to communicate anything at all), there were no glassware, flatware or dishes other than those waxy paper coffee cups, there was no coffee or coffee cups in the lobby, with the coffee machine, no amenities in the room of any kind, not even water for purchase, the toiletries were random leftovers from god knows where (we had lotion, shampoo and conditioner, but no body soap). so disappointed, because the location is, for me, absolutely perfect and the rooms are still quite big. what a waste.

Agree with others-Avoid at all cost-waiting for nearly $700 refund. They emailed me credit card declined and even wanted a second credit card number. I cancelled within 15 hours of booking and waiting weeks no refund. The phone number provided for billing says it is temporarily unavailable. Front desk does not answer phone either.

I have not been refunded. They owe me $2,000. It has been over a month now. Avoid at all cost. I cancelled during the cancellation during window, so I am owed a complete refund. Be extremely careful and stay away from this place. They will not refund you!

Although the room was large and had a great view the room lacked some amenities that every hotel room should have. Bathroom was small with a very dim light, it didn’t have a fan (if it did it didn’t work) or blow dryer. Only one bar of soap so you had to use it for washing your hands and shower. No coffee maker, mini bar was empty. On top of that there was no cable or WiFi on our two night stay. After a long day in the city we wanted to relax and watch tv, but that was not possible . I emailed them my complaint and still have not heard back from them. For the money you should get more. Very disappointed stay.

The hotel advertised "Amenities and features" to include : TV; HDTV; TV size 47; Cable/satellite TV service; TV -LCD; Complimentary WiFI; Phone; and Bathroom (Private). None of these were available during the entire time of our stay. Moreover, our room had an inoperable bathroom door, which could not close nor be repaired by the hotel’s engineer, resulting in a complete lack of privacy. And, in the absence of any WIFI, neither of us could carry on our business responsibilities, as we had reasonably expected. We asked for a credit both verbally and in writing due the failure to provide the promised accommodations. No response, nor even an apology was offered. I would never choose that hotel, or its chain again
