The hotel environment is really comfortable, full of design, and very integrated with the local environment. The room is larger than other hotels in Japan and very clean. There is a pantry where you can make free coffee/tea. The only drawback is that there is no restaurant, only vending machines are provided, which is more inconvenient if there is no taxi. The parking lot is also very large.

Having only just arrived a few days earlier in Japan - this was our first experience of a ryokan . We didn’t know what to expect but it turned out to be a fantastic experience. From choosing our own Kimono to wear around the hotel to our beautiful spacious room with wonderful views of the autumn trees behind, every detail had been thought about. The onsen was wonderful with a pool. Inside and outside. We had a private dining room where we were served the most incredible meals in beautiful Japanese ceramics of all kinds of shapes and sizes. We were attended to by the Chun, a young Vietnamese girl who was just charming, she couldn’t do enough for us and tried so hard with her English - she really made our stay.. this ryokan is also right opposite the shrines , so its a great location and right on the bus route for getting further into the hills. We really recommend this place.

As one of the late summer vacation trips for my family, I used this facility which was the concept of enjoying hot springs. The view from the room is not bad, and the room itself is older than the new building, but the virus countermeasure is firm and it is relaxed, so I don't care. In the hot spring Sanmai plan, you can enjoy the bath as a rental bath, and you can enjoy the stay that comes true for the purpose, and you can enjoy the satisfaction. If you are looking for a meal, you can drive to the station in 5 － 10 minutes and to the convenience store in 5 minutes.

Corona, I really went out 々, so I booked a room with an open-air bath even if it was a little expensive. Open-air bath → Everyone said that this hot spring was good, so I naturally thought it was a hot spring in the open-air bath in the room, but it was ordinary tap water. Sorry ... Of course, the bathtub was full of insects because it was a place without screen doors. It is listed under the name Bed →, but there is only a rice cracker futon drawn where the corner of the room is a little higher. It was too hard to sleep well because my body hurt. Bedding? sheets? I'm sorry for the dry smell of the laundry. I think it can't be helped because of the corona, but even if I stayed for consecutive nights, I had to change the towels, so I didn't remake the bed. The room was very cold. Cooking → I was expecting seasonal and local food, but only crabs and shrimp. I imagine that the crab was frozen, so I gave up without eating half without relaxing. Since there is no confirmation of allergies, I think it is better to confirm the dishes for crustacean allergies ... The fuel for cooking on the food table was small, and shabu-shabu and pork came out, but the fire went out on the way and I gave up. Isn't it good that it's a size that can be cooked for about 5 minutes? Breakfast is Japanese style. I think it's difficult to have a buffet because it's a corona disaster, but I think it would be nice if you could choose Japanese or Western breakfast at least. And I thought that the male staff at the front desk was not like the front desk. Can't find our name from the reservation list and are you really booking at home? I was asked. The woman was polite. That said, I think it is unavoidable that the service is limited because it is a corona disaster, but I thought that the price and the service content did not match.

Arrived at Hotel and parked the rental car in the car park for free. Staff were very efficient and check in was very quick. Japan is still very Covid conscious and masks are worn everywhere. We were advised that there were were facilities for making Tea/ coffee in the room and that we should take any provisions required (for free) from the table arranged in the lobby i.e. tea / coffee / toothbrushes..etc. Room was lovely and spacious with a comfortable bed and lovely en-suite- lovely deep bath (shower fixings would be low for taller individuals). They had an evening bar and Onsen (natural hot water spring separate for males and females). They had a restaurant that provided an extensive buffet menu for breakfast - very tasty, and they had a select menu for the evenings and what we tried was very tasty also. The staff in the Hotel and restaurant were most friendly and encouraged me when I attempted some Japanese words. A very lovely start to our holiday in Japan - Thank you for your hospitality, we would happily stay here again

We stayed one night in this ryokan, which is 30 minutes walk from Nikko Station and a few minutes from the sanctuary. I made the trek here from Tokyo on a Saturday for the Yunishikawa-onsen KAMAKURA Snow House Festival which is only held from Late January to Late Feb on Fri/Sat and Sundays. Tips for making the trek - pre book the Fast Tobu train! I neglected to do this and with the help of a lovely man at the train station I ended up taking 5 x local trains and an hour bus making the trip 5.5 hours long instead of 3. Now to the hotel. It’s in a great location, right next to the festival hub but a short walk to the main centre of town ( which is very tiny). I didn’t pre book dinner or breakfast but took some snacks with me, however on arrival they advised they offer guests free ramen from 9-10.30pm which was delicious! The onsen was a new experience for me and one that I enjoyed. They offer very very comfortable pyjamas for your use while there as well. I asked on check out if they sell these pyjamas but they don’t :( I would have bought them if they did as they were perfect! The rooms are a little dated but comfortable and clean. The lounge area is lovely, wooden fire, free coffee, tea and juices and a wine dispenser with a good range of wines which you can easily charge back to your room. It was so relaxing just sitting by the fire and enjoying the views. One night was plenty for me but if you are a hiker then maybe a longer stay would be preferred. Making the trek back was easy. The bus that leaves from outside the hotel is timed to arrive at the Yunishigawa Onsen station with 10 minutes spare before the train arrives. Then a quick 2.5hours on the direct train back to Tokyo. If you are looking for a little escape from the noise of Tokyo then this is a lovely location in winter epically when the festival is on.

As other reviews say, the building is undeniably dilapidated, but considering the low price, it is a hotel with very good service. You can bring oden, alcohol, and coffee in the lobby to your room. You can bring pillows and humidifiers with you. The food was not luxurious or new, but the buffet was well replenished and the variety was good. The soy milk pot is very delicious, and I enjoyed everything from the buffet space to pork, vegetables, udon noodles and rice cheese. If my child fell asleep in the middle of the trip, the staff immediately noticed and connected the chair and brought me a lap blanket. The private bath also has about 10 showers, so it seems that the one that was used as a normal indoor bath was made private, but the children were delighted to play. I am very thankful that there are water guns, buckets and watering cans in the bathtub. The point to watch out for is February, so it's cold anyway. The path to the bath, the dressing room, and the room are all cold. I turned on the air conditioner in the room, but it was too cold, so I couldn't sleep in my yukata. I think it's better to bring room wear that can be used as a pajamas. Also, the toilet paper holder was about to come off. I wrote a lot, but I think it's a ryokan with more than enough service considering the price.

Booked this hotel for a stay in Mid November and after getting off of train we caught the bus here a little after sundown. The autumn leaves are really outstanding-almost every picture is a gorgeous post card. Bus driver asked where we are headed to and told him ”Kinugawa Onsen Hotel” . Took around 10 min to arrive and we were dropped off in front of hotel parking lot. Waited in a short line to check in and front desk service referred us to ”HITOMI” her name on tag in hiragana characters. She whipped up 2 page map with room information, pertaining elevator diagram and hotel keys. Make sure to pay careful instructions about onsen and buffet times- free soft serve ice cream and snacks until 6pm in lobby/ free drinks, coffee, tea until 10pm. FYI- best soft serve in Japan Hokkaido milk...yummy!!! 5 golden stars to HITOMI- top notch and friendly service. She urged us to be aware of emergency exits on our floor. While you are dining they will bring out futons so when you return- soft futons are waiting for you! The room is a traditional tatami mat with table and cushions. It is welcoming with snacks, complementary bottled water and a hot tea station. Room safe in closet also included were yukata robes for him and her. Ugh, wonderful amenities, tooth brush, a few toiletries -worry free stay. After visiting the onsen - kind of stressful for a foreigner like me. Not used to being naked with other ladies but in reality I was invisible- no shame at all. We headed down to the all you can eat dinner. We had 90 min-more than enough time to eat from 7:30 to 9pm. The spread was adequate with dishes from Japan and a few we recognized. Tempura made to order, musubi bar, gelato station, bakery section, fruit bar, local dishes and drink machine both hot or cold more-more- more- too much to mention. Looked at all the diners like ravenous sharks. Lots of help staff taking away empty plates, chefs assistants re-filling the empty vessels with more foods. Orderly chaos in front of me and loving every succulent moment. I felt like Templeton in the Charlot's Web movie. Burp* UGH, rubbing my full belly and going for seconds and thirds. Repeating ” ah, ill have a year to diet” until we come back again. Super glad we upgraded to the all you can at buffet. Coming again in the morning-they open at 7am for breakfast. It ended up being a repeat but with Japanese breakfast foods too. We did an early checkout at 8am and paid our $2 onsen tax. They were nice enough to let us stay in the room until 10am if we promised to bring back both keys at that time- no issues there. First bus back to the train station arrives a little after 10 am and Hitomi came out to ask us to wait in lobby. Lobby had comfy seats and was warmer than outside. Stayed for the first time in two years. I stayed at Hachibankan for the first time. Premium lounge can be used for the use of Hachibankan. It was a calm space, but I was surprised that there were several guests who were happy to peek in from the entrance. Fortunately, it was convenient because it was a room on the 6th floor. On other floors, you need to transfer to the elevator when using the facilities of Shuhokan. I think it was probably almost full, but there are 3 baths, including the open-air bath on the roof, so there is no feeling of congestion. I was able to spend a relaxing time. The shower bed and hair dryer were refas. Meals are 2 meals with Viking. I can't deny the feeling of zawazawa, but I think it's a Viking if you stay in Asaya. I don't know because I have no experience using kaiseki ryotei, but the buffet was better than the restaurant in the kaiseki. However, it is good to be quick, but the restaurant staff who lowers the dishes from the empty side walks on the floor like running, so it shakes while eating. A little uncomfortable. There was also a response that was not as if there were many part-time jobs. The staff are polite, but it feels like it has become a normal hot spring hotel that is a little expensive due to the corona wreck. I feel that there used to be a little more special, luxurious, and special feeling. I feel that even when the corona support is gone, it will not return to the original service.
