220020We had an awesome time at Shangrila Jakarta. Booking the clubroom was the best decision as we could have free flow drinks, afternoon tea and evening canapes. For those with children and not allowed into the lounge during evening time, they have allocated an area in the lobby lounge for families to enjoy their evening canapes and adults could still order any alcohol drinks served ala carte should they desire to do so—all inclusive. Lounge food was delicious. There were scones, salmon, smoked salmon sandwiches, profiteroles, sushi, satay, cakes etc. we would absolutely do the same should we be going to Jakarta again. There’s also a water playground with water slides and big tipping bucket for children. Pool is big and enjoyable. There are also fringe activities for children like bracelet making and also a bouncy castle and a swing.
Rooms were kept clean and tidy and the toilet (with separate bathtub and shower) was huge! Room temperature control was accurate and good too.
The only thing is that it is not located walking distance/connected to the big malls. But taking a bluebird cab out to mega malls is easy and also of budget cost.
Breakfast spread is amazing and seating was fast too.
Kids were also greeted with goodie bags on arrival. Hospitality was great. Thanks so much Shangrila!

DDaniel Lee SB2night stay at Discovery SCDB to attend a conference in Jakarta.
Booked a twin share room and this was the most unique and well designed twin-share room I have ever stayed in! 2 beds but with a separator and individual amenities for each person! 2 of almost everything including desk, TV, wardrobe & even separate wash basins! Room was clean. Wifi was stable and fairly fast.
Morning breakfast was booked inclusive and is a free-flow ala-carte breakfast ordered from their menu. Food was tasty and the restaurant ambience and service was excellent.
Check-in was very straightforward and staff was friendly, helpful and most importantly, spoke good English.
Location was excellent right in the middle of the CBD next to a huge shopping mall Pacific Place.
Overall an excellent stay. Will definitely return when next there. Highly recommended.

The location is excellent, especially for business purposes. It is situated in the Kuningan area, which is convenient for meetings, offices, and nearby shopping malls and restaurants. This made it a practical choice for a business trip.

AAnonymous UserIt’s quite a good location- if is just next the hotel is grand Indonesia. Have spacious room, kitchen, washing machine, hall and tv. The interior and furnishing however it’s quite old and need some maintenance (sink faucet need some fixing) and seem it has not been renovated for sometime. The lightings quite dim when is at night. Don’t have a lamp desk to use. The gym is quite complete but it’s also old- some area under renovation. Staff are friendly and attentive.

AAnonymous UserHad a great stay overall. The staff are very accommodating, friendly, and professional—they made the experience smooth from check-in to check-out.
The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with plenty of space to move around and manage luggage easily. A good option if you prefer bigger rooms compared to newer compact hotels.
Location is very convenient, especially being near Kota Kasablanka mall, with lots of dining and shopping options just a short walk away.
Breakfast was average—decent variety but nothing particularly standout.
Overall, a comfortable and convenient stay with great service. Would consider staying here again.

GGuest UserA mixed bag of feelings here. I thought I was feeling lucky when they told me at check-in that I was getting a complimentary upgrade (to Deluxe) Unfortunately I was plagued with a number of recurrent issues. The room itself is very nice (311), best thing about it was the bed and the views into the city by the window. With that said, it did have a number of issues, so it was not the finished article in my mind (the safe locked without instructions, the wooden ***** on the floor coming off making me trip, the kettle malfunctioning, not hot water on the basin, so had to use the kettle to shave daily) When I arrived, it had not been fully cleaned (see pictures) All of these were actually minor issues vs. other stuff I experienced, I didn't make much of it as I was getting an upgrade. The problems came a few days later when it started raining, and suddenly I was getting sore throats in the room with the temp marking almost 25c and the air con off. I had to take mucolytics and anti-flu tablets cause I was getting a bad cold there. I was wondering if the air conduct were releasing bad spores into the air because it was so tatty (pictures attached)
So with no heating, I got cold there with 27c outside, I find this very very strange.
But the much bigger problem was a few days later when I was hearing massive thumps, bangs and wall stomping from the room right above me, they had placed a family with 4 kids on top of me and it went on at all times in the evening. It got so bad that I requested a change of room, and surprise, they gave me a really REALLY bad downgrade to the 17th floor in a much smaller room, on a really grotty floor that looked like a 2 star highway motel. I thought maybe they were penalising me. The staff at reception told me the next day the people checked out, but the same noises continued another 2 days, so they lied to me or they placed another family with noisy children. The floor on top is super thin. You can hear anyone walking as if they re stomping on it.It will drive you crazy. I also heard people next door hammering something at 1 am in the morning for two nights straight. This hotel has big structural problems. I don't pay $520 to get tortured, it felt like it at some point.
On a separate note, the breakfast service was more like a brunch, very varied and many choices (except for meat and fish that was very underwhelming) They had a temp control management problem, there were mornings when I touched the trays and they were at room temp. Also the plates for the hot section are not heated, so that with the powerful air con overhead translated into your hot food going lukewarm almost immediately, which makes it taste disgusting.
It was only the last 2 or 3 days when I started placing my plates on the griddle for a few mins with the staff's permission, when I could finally start eating hot food. Due to this, I was getting ”stomach runs” every single day after breakfast, except for two days. This is a breach of H&S
So there are several issues that affected my health here.
The restaurant and cafe in the evening had some good meals. The Mexican had some Western tucker that I enjoyed, my last meal (Mexican enchiladas) was underwhelming, felt like cantine food that was microwaved and badly, because I had to send it back for being lukewarm.
Overall I cannot recommend this hotel due to numerous health problems I suffered. I also discovered that if it weren't for the upgrade, I would have been given a horrible room like the one I saw quite possibly.(the room I received cost almost $1000 for two weeks, still very overpriced) This wasn't cheap, and I feel it was so expensive for what it was. Definitely not a 4 star, a 3 star is more befitting.
The staff was mostly corteous, And premises are up to standard only in places. The gym was very nice. The pool area nice with some views, if only a little tiny..

GGuest UserRoom a bit small but that's ok. One thing that irritated us ( me and my friends, we had 3 rooms x 3 couple) the lack of lighting. Only bedside lamps and 1 above the desk that are not enough to cover the whole room, too dim. Of course there are the entrance way & toilet lights.

BBubblecat1232In summary, the stay was good. The only criteria that may need improvement in my opinion is the air cond is too cold ranging 11.5 to 13.5 degrees. Many attempts to increase the temperature failed. Even after we off the air cond, it was very cold. Not comfortable to sleep as if we were in Shanghai during cold weather season. Not very sure if it was because the air cond is centralised. My friend insisted not to stay here in our next trip even though we were happy with the cleanliness, politeness, hospitality, food, location etc. Could the hotel look into improving this part? Thank you.
