I had a lovely one night stay, beds very comfortable and food in the pub attached was delicious. Would definitely book again.

Terrible stay. No signal or Wi-Fi in the room. No shower in the room just a bath tub. Skylight in the room which let the light in. Was told kitchen closes at 9.30 went to order at 9 and was told the chef has finished. I was also blocked in the car park in the morning by staff.

It was a very disappointing experience. Our rooms were not as expected and certainly did not resemble those shown online whilst booking. The price was very low and it was obvious why. The rooms were very dark and mine was positively eerie. The beds were clean and comfortable but that was little compensation for the poor state of the place.

A mixed view. Perfect location, lying just a short walk from historic Ironbridge, staff were polite, room was almost functional (I had no real shower, one of those tap mixer things, but no shower curtain, no over head hook and no space to stand up due to the slopey roof) - but clean and comfy. The public areas of the "hotel", corridors etc are really shabby, bordering on dirty, and first impressions last, as they say. The pub area is nice, good food, average selection of beers, end a special mention for breakfast. Another plus is that the price is good for a room in that location by the river. I would go back, but only for a night, so all in all, more pros than cons.

Book a room above a pub for a Friday night in August, and it’s caveat emptor, so I won’t complain about the loud, beer-fuelled, sweary conversations going on just below our charmingly single-glazed and ill-fitting window until past midnight. I will, though, about the staff having what sounded like their own drunken revelry whilst clearing up, not appreciating that sound travels upwards and in an old building you can hear EVERYTHING in the rooms whether coming from inside or outside. When they eventually departed around 1.30am, one mindfully said ‘can you be quiet: we have residents’, which his colleagues laughingly ignored, carrying on loudly yabbering, again, right below us. Banging doors inside ceased around 2am and started again at 6am. I’ll also note the pub’s outside lights, which shine into the room, not going off until around 1am, maybe later. Coming on the back of the hot water running out that evening when my bath had, oh, about four inches in it, it was only ever on for four stars. A magnificent breakfast could have rescued a third star (I have to recognise it’s good value at c.£50; one star would be unfair). It was very good, but took almost half an hour to arrive, so, sorry, two stars. And, to be fair, it was a very comfortable bed to lie awake in.

I really enjoyed our stay at the swan. Staff nice, when booking in he took us to our rooms, and was chatting,it's the little things that count. Looking forward to returning hopefully for longer. Thank you for the stay .

We stayed here just one night and wow the room was beautiful. Original exposed beams galore. Beautiful water view from the window it was just stunning. Staff were friendly and welcoming & lovely selection of drinks at the bar with live entertainment (it was Saturday) but finished at 11pm so didn’t disrupt anyone wanting to have an early night. The car park is very very small and we had to park in the museum car park and pay but it isn’t that expensive.

Good points; the room was clean (you can forgive a lot if this is so) and the bed is potentially very comfortable. Bad points; everything else. I stayed in room number 4 at The Swan. This room is an exercise in how much money you can earn from how little space. The room was very small and very poorly equipped with very basic fixtures and furniture and the bathroom was so small as to be uncomfortable. No storage space (this had clearly been in position at one point in the form of a towel rail over the radiator and some shelving near the sink but had been removed because of space limitations I'm guessing, and as was suggested by damage to the basin) and with the smallest possible shower tray. The shower is electric and barely adequate. The bed was surprisingly comfortable and would have been more so if sheets that were actually big enough used to cover it. The lower sheet could not be tucked under the mattress of the very small double bed (more a single and a half, perhaps suitable for Snow White and one dwarf) and so kept pulling away and bunching up. The final straw was the noise I heard from the bathroom at 10.30pm on day two whilst I was in bed. I thought 'old plumbing' but when I got up in the morning the toilet was full of water, used paper and muck, and therefore unusable. So inadequate waste pipes, too. Breakfast should have been at the Taphouse about 100m down the road. I did not eat breakfast for a couple of reasons, these being that I was not hungry in the morning and the quality of the room suggested the quality of the breakfast may also be low. The room is cheap at £55 B & B but I wouldn't stay again if they paid me. This is not an hotel at which the owners care at all about guest comfort. Spend a few quid extra and stay somewhere else is my recommendation.

This was a Red letter day treat from our children for our Golden wedding. We were given the furthest room so unfortunately had to ask for help carrying our case up the 24 very dark and twisting stairs. When we got in the room we could hardly breath as the radiators were on full so we turned them all off but we could not open the skylights so we were woken several times sweating. There was only one light working in the room although we asked for a bulb for the other one they did not have one .Only light switch by door so had to leave bathroom light on all night to use the toilet My husband had to put a chair in bathroom doorway so that he could read as this was the only light bright enough to read by. Had to keep clothes in suitcase as no drawers or wardrobes although did manage to hang our wet coats on the wobbly rail. Fortunately we were only there two days. Lesson learnt and we will stick with Premier Inn at least they do what they say on the tin
