We stayed here for three nights prior to joining a cruise from Santa Cruz. The hotel is a long way from Tenerife South airport (over an hour's drive) but it is well worth it. We arrived at 10pm and received a very warm welcome. Our bags were delivered to our spacious room whilst we sipped a complimentary sherry. Our room looked out over the pretty gardens but we also had a view of the sea from the balcony. The bed was very comfortable with a spacious bathroom, all scrupulously clean and very modern. The large lush hotel gardens were immaculately maintained and the pool was too. All the public areas were modern and inviting. The staff were lovely and as this is a family run hotel it is the antithesis of corporate hotel chains. The only potential downside is that walking access to the town is by a series steep steps though we didn't find this a problem, and there are plenty of taxis available. We would definitely visit again and highly recommend it.

A family owned & run hotel in an enviable location surrounded by beautiful gardens. Happy caring staff, good food, excellent, thoughtfully designed bedrooms and public areas means this is not your usual package holiday hotel by any means.

This was our fourth visit to Hotel Tigaiga and the experience was as outstanding as usual. Set in beautiful botanic grounds across from a delightful park and away from the busyness of the town makes this a very relaxing holiday experience. The hotel is super clean, the staff very friendly and amenable and the choice at breakfast amazing. We particularly appreciate your attention to be as sustainable as possible. Thank you again for giving us the perfect environment to unwind.

A traditional, family run lovely hotel set in a peaceful location in beautiful gardens, with great views over Puetro de la Cruz and the sea in the distance. Our room was spacious, with a nice balcony, sparkling clean and feather pillows available when requested. We stayed half board and breakfast and dinner was all very good and varied. The staff are a credit, very professional and friendly, and there is a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere at the hotel. Highly recommended.

This is a wonderful hotel – not the most expensive, nor is it one with the most facilities, but if you’re looking for a relaxing experience away from the multinational chains and their impersonal service, look no further. Hotel Tigaiga is family run, and the staff act as if they are part of that family: friendly, helpful and professional, they always appear to have time for you and for answering any questions. As my birthday occurred while we were here, they even gave me card and a beautifully wrapped present! Everyone we dealt with from reception, to cleaning, to waiters and management all seemed to be pulling in the same direction: to please the customer not just their bosses. The building itself is nothing special (though thankfully low-rise: only 3 stories) but it’s well designed and decorated inside, and set in its own gorgeous, extensive tropical gardens. Opposite the hotel is a small park with a network of trails that were well used when we were there by dog walkers and runners prepping for the upcoming Santa Cruz marathon. Despite giving the sensation that you’re miles away from the hustle and bustle of the town visible below, the walk down is quite short (although it feels far longer on the way back after a couple of cervezas!). Breakfasts are excellent (a huge array of breads, pastries, cereals, yoghurts, meats, cheeses as well as the option of cooked) and they were happy to offer me oat milk for my coffee as an alternative to the usual long life dairy milk. They’re very good on little touches that remind you they’re independent, such as the little decorative individual flower blooms dotted around the bathroom, and the huge bunch of bananas fresh off the tree hanging outside reception of you to help yourself. We had dinner twice at the waiter service restaurant (there’s a separate buffet for those on half board) and we both agreed that the food was better than any of the places we ate at in town. If there is one criticism, it is that the restaurant and its accompanying bar service were clearly understaffed; trying to attract anyone’s attention to get a table or to order a drink – or even to ask for la quenta - was often greeted with a look of panic, or a look away to avoid eye contact. The separate bar behind reception wasn’t staffed at all – drinks had to be brought up from the restaurant bar which must have been even more panicky for the staff down there! However, if you prefer to have your drinks delivered pronto, Alberto’s Bar and Terraza Taoro are both a hop and a skip away and both have great views of the town and the setting sun. We left after 5 days wishing we’d booked for longer – we’ll definitely be back!

This is an extremely well run hotel with an excellent front desk (special thanks to Katya) excellent housekeeping and a good restaurant. A lovely location - all round very good value. I went with MBest so that I could use their spa close by. All round, possibly the best break I’ve ever taken.

A lovely, friendly, comfortable and quiet hotel in a great location. German owned and run by with staff who seem to love their jobs. Gardens are beautifully kept and a real bonus. Nice pool and rooms are well kept, clean and comfy. Breakfasts are splendid - half board dinners are a little regimentally ‘fish or meat’ with a bland sauce with the occasional bizarre dish (raspberry gazpacho with cream cheese and anchovies??) But it’s really OK… there is always fresh salads on hand. We loved the hotel and will return!

What we enjoyed was the great location, the room with a gardenview, the high class food and the great kitchen team. The garden around the hotel is absolutely adorable, with 42 types of palms and lots of different flowers. We loved the garden tour, during which we were professionally introduced in the secrets of the garden. And also the frontdeskteam was super helpful with excursions and other questions. They formed continuously the living and loving heart of the hotel. Ton & Margaret

Tho built in 1959 the hotel must have had an extensive refurb at some stage to a very high quality. Food was very good, room very comfortable and spacious, lovely view from balcony, great swimming pool, well kept and extensive gardens, excellent location high above the town but only 15 min walk down to the harbour, staff were lovely. Very happy to recommend.
