"To be honest, I booked a homestay at the foot of the terraced field scenic area, the Zuowang Valley homestay, and a five-star hotel in Jinyun during this trip to Lishui. The prices of the three hotels during the National Day holiday were all over 1,000, but the experience was really too different. The first two were also homestays. I can only say that I don’t know how much better the terraced field homestay is. The environment in the Zuowang Valley is good. You can just go there for a day and have a meal. Don’t stay there. The bathroom is transparent. It is embarrassing to take a bath with teenagers. The sewer pipes in the bathroom have never been covered with silent things. The restaurant is not very good. I can only say that I am full! For the people behind, don’t stay there, don’t stay there. "We loved our weekend stay here as a quiet and green nature getaway from Shanghai (3hr train ride). We arrived late in the evening, but the provided taxi service from Qingtian was great (40mins, 80rmb). Our host Nancy was so sweet, spoke great English, made us wonderful coffees and even took us on a little tour of the village and vegetable gardens. The accomodation is in a small village with 500yo houses, where mostly elderly people still live. We went on two nice 2-3hrs hikes, to the waterfalls and temple and towards another village. Food was great too: lovely rice flake porridge and many other things for breakfast, free tea and snacks, and in the evening we got a lovely noodle soup. Our lastminute vegetarian request was easily accomodated. Bed and shower were lovely and a good heater was provided to warm the room. Would definitely recommend, we hope to come back in spring to see the flower fields!"
