My wife and I recently spent a very pleasant 5 nights at this hotel. It is nicely situated in the marina area slightly away from the city centre, but still with many local restaurants. Our room (on the top floor as specifically requested) was small but perfectly formed with an excellent view over the Marina. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was powerful and the the wi-fi was excellent. The room had all we needed, really, apart from, perhaps, some drawers for clothing. There was space on some open shelves but we prefer to have our clothes 'put away' and not on show. We had no problem with noise entering our room either from the outside or from neighbouring rooms. We took breakfast on a couple of occasions and it was a decent buffet affair, albeit pricey. The hotel staff were friendly, welcoming, polite and very helpful in arranging excursions and advising on things to do in Iceland. We didn't take dinner in the hotel, but we did find an excellent gastropub literally over the road from the hotel.

The hotel boasts a fantastic location in a bustling area, offering convenience for guests. The reception desk is exceptionally helpful, and the restaurant staff, particularly during breakfast, are outstanding. Wish the breakfast had more hot food variety and also better coffee options (only had filter coffee), neverthless still a great breakfast spread. The hotel comprises a modern half and an older section, but both segments provide all necessary amenities. Easy access to taxis and the nearby bus stop, which is ideal for convenient Iceland tour pick-ups. Overall, a comfortable stay with excellent service and accessibility.

Most probably the best hotel in Reykjavik, modern, new, everything in great condition and with a great location. That being said it is a very expensive hotel even for Icelandic standards. So let me start with the highlights of this hotel: - Very comfortable and great materials condition. - AC with individual room adjustable temperature is a great plus for Iceland. - I got the basic room and it felt big enough, modern and super clean. The bathroom was also big but there was no bathtub unfortunately. Great comfortable bed and sheets. - Le Labo bath products are truly amazing. One of the best I ever tried! I also appreciated that for ecologic reasons they weren't in non reusable small plastic bottles. - The rooms are silent and relaxing. I would change the black TV furniture as black always highlight the dust on it.. even when the room is nicely cleaned. - The breakfast is big and overall with good quality. But daily variation should be bigger. - The location is perfect to stroll along the shops and walking distance to the most important city spots. - The spa is beautiful and very interesting. Probably the most well designed small spa in a city hotel I have ever seen. Complimentary use of the spa is a very nice touch indeed. Although it was a really good expericence in no way this was a perfect stay specially when the price tag is considered: - The hall and corridors cleaning left too much to be desirable. At least at 3rd floor corridor there was dust, earth and stains that remained for the whole 3 night stay. It is strange as the rooms are really well cleaned (maybe it's a different team? maybe someone forgot that the corridors are also to be cleaned?). - The reception. It is always busy and sometimes feels chaotic at the proper hotel entrance. I also felt that some guest were treated differently and with more care. I got no welcome drink or even the suggestion to leave the bags. That's ok for me but then I realized the guest next to me was immediately offered all of this. I mean.. consistency is important at this level. - Hidden fees. Ok maybe it was a misunderstanding but when we arrived we were told that the hotel had valet parking only. But nobody told us the extortion each night of it. At the chekout there it was though. Also in the breakfast there was no specific tag with the champagne price but after I filled a glass with it a waiter quickly send me the bill to sign. I mean it is very bad to mix not included stuff in the buffet. Also every egg besides the scramble had a price tag. I mean for almost 700 euros a night is it reasonable to charge for a egg toast?. - The room curtains. Beautifull but totally off for iceland summer status (2-3hours of darkness). Light comes in in every curtain fold so it is impossible to cover it. Every night I woke up several times due to too much outdoor light in the rooms. This should be quickly addressed. It honestly really bothered me. - The spa only opens at 12h00 meaning you cannot use it

I’m trying to write a balanced review … so here goes … Benefits: Location Clean rooms L’OR coffee machine … but there is a but later on …. Nice chocolate offered on check in but just slapped into my hand! 2 x bottles of water offered again just dumped into my hand no here we are complementary snacks and water on behalf of Canopy Hilton … I found this level of service not good. Set backs: Diamond member - remember a serious amount of money spent at Hilton brand hotels and extreme loyalty to the Hilton brand - No upgrade offered, but suites still Showing on Hilton app for entire stay and on booking.com Canopy Hilton might have shown the same commitment back to top tier members loyalty and in-fact a poor attitude and extremely lacking in customer service on front desk I would say 8/10 times during stay. No milk for L’OR coffee machine only creamer!! No milk for tea in room Poor bathroom amenities no shower cap, no toothbrushes, no razors etc had to ask not great! Housekeeping said they had none … asked at front desk and the Hilton colleague opened a draw full of amenities!!! Making guests go down to reception to beg instead of just providing in room!!! Demonstrates Poor customer service. Then to be told we may not have orange socks or shower caps we may have run out … surely at a top rated brand hotel there is stock take and orders are placed in a timely fashion! Not impressive from Canopy Hilton at all. No orange socks in room, but left bathrobes again poor customer service. No welcome to Canopy Hilton thank you for being a diamond member …. Again poor customer service not recognizing loyalty. No executive lounge - no drinks vouchers given to diamond members as in other Hiltons - seems mean and lacking in customer service. All in all as a diamond member felt a little let down after really looking forward to my trip especially at this brand of Hilton in a great location. Feels run by people who either haven’t been trained adequately, they have no commitment to the Hilton brand or simply just have no idea about hospitality.

If a hostel and a hotel had a baby then you can be sure it's name would be Cityhub! It's a hostel but with a hotel vibe. I'm going to break the review down based on my opinion Location (5/5 stars) Well it's not called VillageHub right?! So yes it is located downtown close to all the bars and restaurants. To put into perspective, round the corner is where you will find the famous Lebowski bar (which I'm sure you have already penned it down on your list). You're in walking distance of all other tourist spots in the city. Parking (no rating) You can skip this part of you're not planning on driving whilst in Iceland. For those of you that are renting a car, parking was a nightmare in Reykjavik and outside Cityhub you will find a few parking spots if you're lucky. I never understood the parking system in Iceland so I did the lazy and parked in the multi storey car park which is a stone throw away from the place. It cost me roughly between12 - 14£ to leave my car there overnight. Staff (5/5 stars) I had some complications with my booking and had to rebook but this was no fault of CityHub. The staff were super calm and helpful in putting me at ease. During my stay there I had interactions with a few and they were all super amazing! I noticed the lengths they would go to help the guests with queries even not related to the place. They would always engage in conversations and share their experiences with the guests. Lauren helped me check-in and gave me a tour of the facilities. She recommended a few things to do around the city and they didn't disappoint. I feel that the city tax we pay should go to Lauren! Isabella is super chilled and was helpful too with mainly things around Iceland and sorting out my booking issue which btw had nothing to do with her and the property. Julia and iria were the others who were also helpful. Definitely worthy assets to company! Well done team! Property and facilities (5/5) So here's the thing, the property identifies as a hostel but it really isn't. Let me tell you why. Instead of bunk beds, they have bunk pods cleverly designed like two ”L's” in Tetris. Each pod has a comfy mattress and usb charging ports on both sides. You have ample space at the end of the bed to leave two medium sized luggages. You also have two plugs, a table, a shelf and railing with hangers. Towels are also included. The room also had a phone holder on the wall which I personally used to watch the football but don't let me get in the way of how imaginative you could get with this. There's separate communal showers and toilets for male and females. They are always spotless clean and are stocked with ”Rituals” body wash and shampoo. I've stayed in five star hotels and even they don't provide beautiful smelling products like these! The property has 93 rooms and situated on the rooftop is a hot tub that can easily fit five people. Down in the lobby, lies the kitchen and dining area. Its well equipped with a fridge, microwave and a coff

The staff, accommodations, and location at the Reykjavik Residence Hotel were exceptional! We traveled with 3 families from the USA to Iceland with our elderly parents as part of our dad's 80th birthday bucket list. We corresponded with the hotel staff via email before our trip and they were very prompt and helpful in answering questions. You never know when you're emailing a hotel operation if you'll even get a reply. Imagine our delight when they replied quickly and were extremely helpful, even with offering restaurant suggestions or to call taxis for us. We organized the airport pickup car service which made our arrival very easy. With 6 people and lots of luggage, the car size was adequate and driver very professional. The driver took us to the hotel reception desk. We'd taken a red-eye flight and the hotel staff greeted us with a very warm welcome. They offered us coffee, a place to sit, and use of bathrooms. The reception area was comfortable and the bathroom even had a full-size luxurious tiled shower if needed (definitely not a truck stop shower here!). Our rooms weren't ready so they stored our luggage at no charge and were very accommodating when we needed to retrieve items. Upon check-in, they called a taxi to transport us and our luggage and to the building. It was only a few minutes walk, but this was very thoughtful considering it was a cold and windy winter day. Our building was newly renovated and was very clean and fresh. We had rooms on the basement level, the main level, and the top floor. Each room was spacious, had a large kitchen, and clean and comfortable bathrooms. The basement room had a full-size sliding door that walked outside. The top room had a mini balcony that overlooked the harbor. We'd read some reviews about a sulphur smell in the bathrooms or the water supply. We didn't experience this at all. In fact, we routinely filled our water bottles with the tap water in the rooms and it was perfect to drink. They performed daily housekeeping service automatically and we left laundry one day which was returned within 24 hours with no problems. Definitely take the breakfast option. The bread is baked fresh, filled with air pockets and crusty outside. Hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt (skyr), meats, and cheese. This was a great way to start the day. Coffee was included in the room and the kitchens also had mini-fridges which included a supply of milk and apple juice. The beds were very comfortable and rooms were well-heated. Wi-fi was fast and included. We spent one week at the hotel and highly recommend staying here. It was the size and layout of an apartment, with the amenities and service of a 5-star hotel. Things to watch out for: If you're traveling with others, try to arrange to be in the same building. The buildings are definitely spread out and are a far distance from the reception area. If we'd been in separate buildings, it would have been much more difficult t

The Alda Hotel had great online reviews which was why we picked it. It lived up to every one of them. Before leaving home, we had cancelled a 10-hour South Shore Small Group Tour due to a horrible weather forecast. We inquired at Alda's front desk about another tour to replace it. Not only did Olga research for us, she found an 8-hour Golden Circle Small Group Tour, booked it for us and also was able to change the day of our pre-booked Covid-19 antigen test. The hotel loaned us a converter when I found ours could not fit into the room’s recessed outlets. Finally, when I needed glue for my hiking boot, Olga found a nearby store that carried it. The breakfast buffets featured all the regular fare plus a few specialties like juice made with apple, beetroot, ginger and lemon (tart and yummy). The entire hotel staff bent over backwards to be friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The room, though simple, was spacious and comfy. We could not have asked for a nicer, better place for a 3-nite stay.

My friends and I wholeheartedly recommend Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura for its excellent customer care from its hotel manager down to front desk personnel, including restaurant staff. We had a rocky start upon check-in but the manager on duty, Mr. Kjartan, resolved the situation to our delight. A very, very special thanks to Manager, Mr. Kjartan, who made our stay comfortable by responding to our particular room choices and necessities. He was most considerate. The three of us who booked two rooms can’t thank him enough for making our stay truly enjoyable and comfortable. Communication with the hotel directly via email and in person was efficient and most pleasant. All of the front desk and spa personnel were professional, welcoming, and helpful. To name a few, Saska, Michaela, Gene, Emma, and several others whose names escape us at the moment were very helpful. The longer we stayed, the friendlier and more approachable they became. Breakfast was ample. Pauline went out of her way to warm up some milk for my coffee each morning. True that an omelette was not available but the scrambled eggs compensated for it. Lots of different pastries and breads, fruits, bacon, vegetables, waffles, and so. many other delicious items for breakfast. Our rooms were cleaned well daily. Hot shower and/or soaking in a tub cured our tired feet and knees. Amenities at the hotel, especially the pool, sauna, steam room, gym, etc. were so well managed and they were attractive in appearance and clean as well. The lobby had original wooden sculptures designed and made in Iceland. It was a perfect place to stay for 8 days in Iceland. Walk towards the Bus Terminal to reach downtown by walking and you’ll get there in 15 -20 mins. passing by houses and apartments - a very pleasant walk. Or get the bus right outside the hotel for 490 kronin (ISK).

This hotel has a lot going for it, but it's held back by the fit and finish of many of the hotel's spaces. Overall, the hotel just feels dated. The red carpet in all of the halls is faded and stained, the wood floor in the room had a lot of damage, and the spa is way past its prime. On a positive note, the furniture in the room has been updated recently and the pieces were nice plus I found the bed to be very comfortable. Also, breakfast was really good! The service at the hotel was also great. But that spa, ugh. It's a perk of being a gold/diamond member, but the spa is just not in good condition. Most urgently, something needs to be done about the steam room, it smelled awful while we were there and even made other parts of the spa smell. But overall, the spa was just not in good shape with damage everywhere. Also, the location of this hotel isn't great if you're looking to explore Reykjavik but, if like us, you want somewhere with free parking for you to explore the rest of Iceland, then this is a great location for you.

We made travel plans which meant we needed Reykjavik accommodation on three separate occasions over two weeks in September 2024. I chose Keahotels Reykjavik Lights mainly on price. Much more reasonable than staying in the centre of town and public transport made getting around quite simple and relatively cheap. The staff were very helpful and although we didn't have a lot of specific requests they helped out when we did. Breakfast in the hotel was included and offered a good range of food to cater for people from all around the globe.

Outstanding
JJIAN GUOThe environment is beautiful, the housing conditions are clean, the service facilities are good, the design structure is unique, and the geographical position is unique. In the international market, there is such a hotel with high cost performance, and the description is worthwhile, so we must have a compliment here. Will continue to live one.

TTeacher HarryLayout of room was kind of strange. The bed is on a weird platform that might be difficult to navigate for less agile people, or those who are sleepy or otherwise impaired. Bathroom was overly small. It has a kitchenette, but no microwave. The location is in the heart of the most touristy part of Reykjavik. This is the third hotel I’ve stayed in while traveling to Reykjavik. The others, both lower priced, were not afflicted with the smell of sulphur (rotten eggs) in the water. It is possible to filter this out, and a person paying the price this hotel is asking should be able to expect better quality water. If you want to be in the thick of the tourist action and don’t mind smelly water, this place is OK. Otherwise…

GGuest UserHotel was clean, and overall nice. Free breakfast was very nice and had a wide range of food (bread, yogurt + toppings, make your own waffles, beans, eggs, coffee & tea); there is also a communal fridge on the 2nd floor. However, a few VERY IMPORTANT things to know regarding this hotel being self-service: 1. You are supposed to receive an entry code to get into the hotel 24-48 hours before arrival. We did not know this as we had booked through a credit card rewards program. We arrived to the hotel through the parking structure and were met with a key pad and a sign saying that all guests should have a code in their email. We called two numbers for the hotel and could not reach anyone - so we just called constantly and sat outside the building door for ~30-45 minutes. Finally some guests left and held the door open for us so we were able to be in the lobby. It was around 6pm which is when the bar opens up, so we were finally able to find a staff member who helped us. Our credit card company also finally got in touch with someone and we received our email with the code. So FYI - if you have not received a code within 24 hours, make sure you reach out so you have time to get into contact with the hotel as they do not appear to answer their phones all the time (email may be more effective). 2. The parking structure is difficult to park in - it is an underground structure, so just be prepared to park in a slightly tight space. However, the parking structure leads directly into the hotel which was very nice! 3. As it is a self-service hotel, we were having trouble opening and closing our door (we couldn't get it to lock). We were able to ask the man tending to the bar for help; but he was only able to do a temporary fix; I feel at a non-self service hotel we may have been able to get a different room with an appropriately functioning door. We just had to use lots of strength and make lots of noise to slam the door shut to lock it - not the biggest deal, but just a small note. 4. Just an FYI that this location is not in the city center of Reykjavik (you would have to drive or take the bus to get to the city center). This place is more residential, with grocery stores (which we went to) etc. We had stayed in a hotel in the city center earlier in the trip; and this was a very different spot of Reykjavik. Just FYI that Reykjavik is massive! Overall nice, clean hotel - but the self-service aspect does have its pros and cons (you just don't have the 24/7 support you might have at another hotel when little things go wrong etc.).

GGuest UserKex… Ugh such a frustrating review to write. I really wanted to like the Kex hostel it has its good points, but overall was the worst hostel stay I have had in Iceland. I’ll give you my very detailed opinion. The Bad… -Lacking in the toilet paper department!!! We were on floor 4 there were several private bathrooms with showers and also separate locker room style bathrooms. At 7:30 AM I ran to the bathroom after finishing my business realized there was no TP! Ugh. Anyway afterwards I looked through the different open stalls with toilets. Only 3 toilets on the whole 4th floor had TP! To me having adequate TP is an essential thing. The bathrooms weren’t restocked until 10AM ish. And we aren’t even in peak tourist season. We mentioned the issue to the staff and they said “just call next time you need something” kinda hard to “just call” when you have already done your business in the bathroom and you need something to wipe with! They need to have staff check the bathrooms more frequently. -The kitchen is sad in the “equipment” department. One of the reasons we stay at hostels is to cook our own food. Maybe they are trying to push buying food from their restaurant. I get that they get a lot of traffic. But the cooking pan selection is -Terrible- nasty old pans that the thrift shop would discard. Janky handles, and interior coating mega gouged out. Don’t come here expecting to cook at least on level 4. -No way to make coffee!!! Again they probably want you to pay for their breakfast. But there is no option to make coffee. No coffee pot, machine, or way to make a filter pour over etc. Don’t bring coffee grounds expecting to make your morning brew. There was an electric kettle, but again no way to make coffee unless you brought instant. -The showers need a good bleach and scrub. The walls had black mold growing on them. Considering the fact that Kex was our most expensive hostel in Iceland (we paid 20,906 for a private double, with linens, and shared bathrooms…or $153 US) compare Kex to the Svjarborg in Stykkisholmer $90 US or Halfdan HI Hostel $63 US ( in both we had a private double & shared bath) but both were awesome and had a fully equipped kitchen with decent quality pots, options to make coffee, and plenty of toilet paper. I understand that being in the city we can expect to pay more. BUT I expect that price to include: -enough toilet paper -a means to make coffee -decent cookware. The good… -The location is great. Easy walking distance to the main shops/streets. And the ocean right across the highway. -Awesome “vibe” cool decor, lots of couches/lounge areas. -Entertaining/Social. In the evening there was group song trivia in the main area, and in another a live band. -Our room a private double with shared bathroom was large, and we slept well. (Note: I have never stayed in a “quiet” hostel so I always travel with a sleep soundtrack on my phone and a melatonin) -The staff was all polite In conclusion, I have traveled on 4 contine

GGuest UserCheck-in was pretty smooth. I was allocated the room just above the main entrance as such, it can be quite noisy whenever people get in or out of the hostel with the door slamming and some vibration felt! The bathroom and wc are fairly clean and tidy. Very cosy common area to mingle and make new friends. Kitchen has all the basic necessity. I especially like the small area right outside my room where i can have a light meal and nice view of the surroundings. Bought the unlimited bus rides ticket via the Klappid app for travel within the Reykjavik capital city and bus svc 12 is just few steps away. If time permits, you can even walk to the coastal area for sight-seeing. Overall, i am very satisfied with my 8 nights stay at Laekur hostel!

WWaWa_MacI think Hotel Holt is a nice boutique hotel with all you need. It’s small but all details and needs are being catered. Hotel management is running it with heart which you can see in many aspects. I think this hotel. We didn’t have the breakfast so can’t comment on it but overall experience is good. The price is a bit pricey but it’s okay as we are in city centre. Well located and just a few minutes walk to the Main Street. And the best overall, they have car park and it’s free….

SStefanI can absolutely sympathise with people who struggle to get in and check in to this hotel. When you book through a 3rd party app, you do not receive your room number or entry code. The check-in process is then an adventure of trying to shout into a tablet near the front door, for a call that lasts maximum 2 minutes before it disconnects and you have to try again. The layout is… odd… to say the least, but if you follow the signs you can eventually end up at your room (if you find some of the doors that work, not all do). The maintenance person who broke into our room while we were out forgot to lock the door, so we were at risk of all of our things being stolen, which wasn’t ideal. The room itself was nice, location is good and as long as you don’t need anything, you are getting what you pay for.

GGuest UserWe stayed for 3 nights b&b in April. We arrived early and our allocated rooms weren't all ready but the reception staff amended our room so that we could check in. We also received a room upgrade to a balcony room on the top floor. The room was spacious, good size bathroom and comfortable bed. There was plenty of wardrobe space but no drawers to store smaller items. There was just one issue with the rooms on the top floor, which was they were very hot. Even with the radiators turned off, the staff advised that the heat from the lower rooms rise and can make them warm. There are just 2 small top windows so didn't allow much cooler air to circulate. There was a good selection at breakfast with English and continental breakfast options, tea, coffee, water and fresh fruit juices. The restaurant food was also good and comparable prices to in Reykjavik centre. Good service from the breakfast and restaurant/ bar staff. We used the spa on one of the days and enjoyed this. There are seperate saunas in the male and female changing rooms, with joint hot tub (not jacuzzi), warm small pool and small cold plunge pool. There are seating areas in the pool area with drink service. Towels and robes are provided. The hotel is located outside of Reykjavik centre and about 30 mins walk into the centre. There are a few supermarkets locally, we didn't find any within a short walking distance but there might be some around. The hotel benefits from free parking right outside and we didn't have an issue with the space being full. This was a good location for us as a base to explore the island. The hotel was clean and well equipped to meet our needs. The only issue was the heat in the bedrooms, but apart from that we had an enjoyable stay.

GGuest UserThe location of the hotel is very close to the cathedral and the city center. It is also very close to the bus station. It is also very convenient to go to the major attractions. The breakfast is moderate and the service is very good. The towels need to be mentioned in advance, no extra charge. This store is worth recommending.
