Hotel San Jorge

San Juan|0.7km from Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico
Great, convenient location if U want to explore Santurce/Miramar by just walking. 4 blocks away is Ciudadela which has a 24 hr Pueblo, Planet Fitness, & Mercado La Carreta cafe. Directly across for Ciudadela is a food truck food court called Lote 23 (very tasty, interesting mix). Also don't miss Abracadaba brunch & local coffee spot 787 Coffee. Also couple of good Mex restaurants on Ave José de Diego. U can use this same road to walk to Condado beach 🏖️ area, approx 15 minutes. There are also electric 🛴 on the sidewalks for rent. Right next to hotel just down hill is La Casona (beautiful garden restaurant & fine dining). Just across street from this,on Avenida Juncos, is Burrillos Santurce; a really tasty & very good prices casual Mex 🌯 spot (order at counter & sit). 3 min walk.... Even though location is excellent, the hotel itself is definitely budget. No significant amenities, small rooms & even smaller bathrooms. Water pressure on low side. Rooms have flat panels & cable (didn't use though). AC as much nicer, quiet split type units, worked very well. Small rooms also much easier & quicker to cool. Kinda old, outdated & funky (but also a lot of character), but if U just need a functional place to crash, the room prices are very very good! $65-80/night vs $400 ?!? Also has 1 self serve laundry wash n dry machines. In lobby is a small cafe-type seating area. Free wifi, but kinda slow. Depending on room location, there can be noise issues. Rooms directly above the Asia di Lima restaurant's exhaust fan (on Calle San Jorge side) should keep windows closed btwn 4-11pm to minimize cooking exhaust odors. Anyway... would definitely stay here again; especially if the room rates ate below $80/day. And don't really need a lot of fluff; not on vacation to hang out in tiny room or hotel property. If U want the resort experience... Caribé Hilton, Vanderbilt, La Concha, or Sonesta or El San Juan in Isla Verde... but you're paying $300-800/night !! If U stay here, don't be shy! Get out & walk around as much as possible... you'll be surprised by all the off-the-beaten path cool stuff you'll find. A much more authentic 🇵🇷 experience!

Very welcoming B&B, very close to Ocean Park Beach, the most beautiful sunset. The hostess Margie was very enthusiastic and the breakfast was delicious. It was the most delicious breakfast during Puerto Rico. The room was very clean. Kitchen facilities are available, and the restaurant is stocked with tea, coffee, desserts and bread throughout the day. Very recommended!

Unfortunately, the high expectations I had for this place were lacking. First of all, I booked a deluxe room which included a TV in the room, sofa bed and was supposed to have its own entrance and privacy. As per the instructions on Hotels.com it stated that I should contact the property at least 24 hours in advanced for check-in details. I did just that and was met with a return message stating that I would receive the information prior to check-in on the day the reservation was to begin. Nevertheless, I didn't receive it until 4:15pm, mind you that the normal check-in times, as posted, are 3pm-10pm. Not only did I receive the check-in details about 1-2 hours late but also received a phone call with some confusing information. The lady informed me that my room had supposedly been ”overbooked” by the system and that my room wasn't available for my stay. That they would award me a room inside an ”apartment”, which is usually reserved for Airbnb and as compared to the deluxe room I had booked, included a larger space with a kitchen and other rooms which would be closed. I didn't really need a kitchen since I wasn't planning on cooking etc and was definitely skeptical and thinking how that happened since I had reserved the deluxe room days in advance and wasn't contacted for it at all. No other option was offered to me and I decided to go with it and give it a try... Unfortunately, upon arrival my skepticism was met with reality. All the access gates for the property are open, no locks, meaning anyone can enter the property at any given time. The only actual room which was open inside the ”apartment” didn't have all the amenities as the one I booked and the entire ”apartment” didn't have a single TV. Moreover, there were other people's belongings inside the room, ”apartment” and balcony, which in fact had a seating area but the cushions had been removed so it was useless. Another person's sandals, lighter and more surprisingly contraceptive pills were visible upon arriving. I found this to be unacceptable, specially during these times. I didn't feel comfortable and actually questioned the cleanliness and infection control, given that clearly no one had verified the lodging area and took care of the items which I previously mentioned. I felt unsafe at this time, not knowing if there was other people with access to the ”apartment”, given the fact that there were other people's items left in plain view. I contacted the property regarding the findings upon arrival and I didn't receive a response. I was confused about what to do since I definitely didn't feel safe and didn't know how to proceed since there's no front desk in the property. I never heard anything back and decided to vacate the property and seek lodging elsewhere. That meant having to pay for a hotel elsewhere and spend an additional quantity of money than we were expecting but it was a decision I made with my partner because ultimately we didn't feel safe!!!

Ahhh where to start? I had an amazing time at this hostel. I was always greeted in such a friendly way, and the rooms were always cleaned and well maintained by the excellent housekeeper, Edwin. He was so kind and gave great recommendations, and kept the bathroom and room very well maintained and clean. Dinelys and Nina were both so helpful and welcoming, especially since it was my first time in a hostel. I enjoyed my first time so much that I came back for another 4 nights a few days later! And thank God I did, i met some incredible people on my return visit! The rooftop is wonderful, and I felt very at home. The beach is a quick 6-10 minute walk away, and there’s plenty of food and shops around. Will absolutely stay again the next time I’m in San Juan! 🤍🤍

No breakfast at the hotel, the hotel does not have a kettle, but there is a microwave and coffee maker. We went for 3 people, and the room had a standard double bed. If there were 3-4 people, we could put a double bed on the wall of the room. The hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from the Atlantic Ocean, but the beach here is relatively large, and those who like surfing can surf.
